A few more before I put the netting on. Just put netting on today on the south row after trimming up the lowers.

Anything? Ok. Here are 30 butternut trees I started. I have a stand of a dozen canker disease immune trees. I collected the nuts and buried them 2 inches deep in sand and let them overwinter in the yard. This spring I dug them up and potted them. I figured it didn't work, then a couple weeks ago they sprouted. Now I have to find people who want one.

Don't know where you at @ St. Phatty, but around here with no chicken wire (or similar), and no slug bait you have little chance.

They look good now though.

We've had major problems with bark weevils killing off the white pines, as well as emerald ash borers wiping out many old ash trees. Some trees have shown resistance so there's been somewhat of an initiative to propigate and distribute them. Over the years I've noticed less fruiting trees as well. Might have to start planting some more in the guerrilla fashion.

Yeah. Here too. Ash Borer killed 25% of the canopy in Ottawa. That's after decimating the mighty Elm trees. Elm street has no more elm.

Like the plants we grow, lack of minerals in muscle mass,causes cramps,deficiency
I've heard tonic water works as well Mr. B
:)

Another thing people tend to forget (me included) is that when it’s hot, or you are Working and sweating lots, you lose a lot of salt- so that must be replaced for the body to hold water effectively.

Experanced natures fury today. A dust devil came through the garden and took out the monster bush. A good 2/3rds of it. Not to upset about it. It would have been nice to see it in full flower but not trimming it....Would have been in the pounds. Still get to see what she can do just not as much of it. Also have cuts just in case she is a good one.

before and after pics...

@Littleleaf Whoa!

Well, at least you're 200% positive only the weakest growth was pruned... wish nature surprises you nicely at the end.
