Yeah, that's what I'm thinking. My well water fluctuates hardness seasonally and we have been getting drenched this spring. I had been using heavy 16 for the last few months and was not having the same issues. On the positive side, plants are stoked. Just having to clean out my "y" filter every few res fillings.

I'm still using Maxibloom/grow at 3-4 grams per gallon along with a couple other things, getting good results i think but would like to switch off from GH since they were bought out by scotts. How does V+B compare to Jacks + CalNit? Cost wise, health of plants etc... I've narrowed my choices down to these two.

Jack's is way cheaper I got like 25 pounds of the Jack's and 25 pounds of cal nit for like 150. That being said I use V and B now.

For my Rez. V+b costs like 10$. Jacks costs me under 2$.
I can also achieve almost identical ratios using jacks. Formulated on cannastats

I also went with jacks brand calnit. You can get it for half the price. I payed like 45 each for 50 lbs each..
They had generic calnit @ 80 lbs for like 25 or so. I didn't want 80 lbs lol

Yeah, jacks is much cheaper but V&B gives me better results with my setup. Cost/benefit goes to v&b as well. Additionally it is easier to dose as it is a truly stand-alone product.

turns out i dont have to order online as the local store carries v+b now as of today. they were all out of tap/hard and only had HD and ro/soft formulas though. im good buddies with the owner and i received 1lb jar of the HD forumula to try out. pretty excited and still have my tap/hard order coming soon but now i have the HD to try out as well. one of the guys kept calling it "high dosage" ..wondering how the HD compares to the tap/hard and if it plays well with coco and 0.4 ec tap water. (.5 scale)

edit: i'll keep using the maxi in veg since it's working well for veg and damn cheap. thanks for the info dans.

Switching from V+B RO / Soft to HD mid flower totally screwed up my crop. I will never touch the HD again. At least not switch to or from it mid cycle.

V+B was better four years ago than it is now IMHO.

Just my experience and I was used it for a few years. I would now just use Maxibloom instead.

i read that PH tends to swing more on the HD than the other formulas?

Hello All, Thanks for all the great contribution to this thread. I've learn so much.

I have a question.

I am currently growing White Rhino and this strain require more nitrates then other strain. Should I add a nitrate buffer to VegBloom Ro/Soft?

If I do, What nitrate buffer work best with VegBloom Ro/Soft?

Would Calnit work or should i just look for the N only?

The plant doesn't show any N diffiency but I have others recommend that I should add more N because White Rhino Strain can takes good tolerance on the increase N.

Or should I just leave it alone?

Thanks all

If it's not askin for it. Why give it?

Also. Maybe your pheno isn't such a hog.
If it's askin for n it will be clear as day. And it's an easy fix.. but you'll be good. This stuff has plenty of nitrogen

This thread is incredible! So much info..
I'm pretty much following Dans guidelines to the tee.
Bringing my RO water up to 0.3 EC/150ppm with CalMag and the rest VegBloom RO/Soft.
Currently in week 3 veg, seedlings are on their 4th node.
Feeding 0.8 EC/400ppm all the plants look good! I'm feeding once a day until i get enough run off to test.
My pH seems to be spiking slightly. I'm feeding at 5.84pH and my run off will not come back below 6.14pH
I am only using Cal Mag, RO/Soft, and 1ml per gal of GrowMore Jump Start which helps lower pH and is just a vitamin/hormone booster
I have not let the coco dry out at all and have not fed higher than 5.90pH
Anyone have any insight?
This thread really helped me convert over to the KISS style. I went from 8-12 bottles of Advanced Snake Oil, to the Veg+Bloom diet! Thanks for sharing all the tech Dan, Stoner, and everyone else! :dance013:
