I've been following the KISS tenants for the last couple years and things have never been better, V&B made my life a lot easier and my plants a lot happier... I setup a PC Dripper system recently and needed to start using something to keep my emitters clean, as I am starting to see reduced flow rates and a bit of algae on pot surfaces. Was about to go to the old standby: drip clean but am going to try Z7 instead. Do y'all use with every reservoir? Seems like it's cheap enough... was using pond zyme but the barley that the enzymes are suspended in doesn't dissolve completely and tends to clog my 100m filter.
What kind of pc drippers did you use?

That's why I asked! One of the best growers I know runs flood and drain with coco/ Canna Coco A+B
I definitely understand your point and agree with you Dan, at least for my experience level.. It's probably not worth the risk

I have seen flood and drain work very well with coco, Resin Rider has been killing for years with f & d. I honestly like drain to waste better but just sayin :tiphat:

Pressure compensating drippers indeed. I get them from dripworks. I did the pvc manifolds back in the day and they worked great, although I always suspected that the pvc allowed enough light in to worry about algae. I went low tech and did a 1/2" poly line system with pop in drippers and spaghetti feed tubes recently and it works great! Couple of the drippers leaked a bit initially but sealed themselves up after a couple days. Also took about 1/4 the time as a full pvc/grommet style manifold.

Oh, I'm using the 4gph drippers. I had to settle on pc drippers due to tables being slightly different heights.

Differing heights is my issue. I am going to order extra drippers so I can swap em out in a pinch. Hopefully I should be able to have a life and not be watering every night.

It's the best... took chores from a minimum of an hour nightly to 15 minutes some nights. Veg is still all hand water but flower is dialed. Next room will have all plants at same level so as to be able to use open ended feed tubes. I put individual valves on all plants when using open ended so that I can tweak each one individually if some are using a bit less water, but really with the nutrient regiment I'm using these days, a bit extra runoff isn't going to break the bank.

I just got my dripper system set up, I went with the flora flex caps/open ended tube system on 6x6 pots, 2 per site. Man, life is good... Automated feeding and Vegbloom..
My only concerns now are pH and IPM. :dance013:

It's kind of weird, when the plants were in solo cups i fed at 5.8 and got 6.1 run off (a good swing) after transplanting and moving under LED's it's the opposite. I started feeding at 5.8 and my run off was too low (5.6)... Started feeding at 6.0-6.1 and get 5.8-5.9 run off.
Is this normal? Or am I not feeding frequently enough?
I just transplanted out of the solo cups 3 days ago!
Here's some pics for you guys!
(currently only using CalMag+/RO/Soft/GrowMore Jump Start/Recharge) 400ppm/0.8ec

If everything is looking good, don't fix it til it's broke. I let my reservoir do the drifting and don't worry about runoff ph as long as there is a bit of runoff and everybody looks happy.

yeah you'll never get an accurate reading of EC or PH from the runoff of coco . a slurry test is needed & even that can give false readings .

just read the plants ..... they'll tell you if they're unhappy or not .

Okay cool, I'm definitely seeing more consistency now that I'm feeding multiple times a day.
I've pH'd my run off almost every time since my 2nd grow. Looks like I'm not going to have to worry about what's coming out anymore as much as what's going in, and how frequently...
Man, I've learned so much from this thread... :tiphat:

Take a look at DJM's thread "coco tree's" for the ultimate in coco growing knowledge dropping. It's in the coco forum and is a sticky I believe.

Dan you don't run a circ pump or airstones in your res right? Is everything you're using synthetic?
Since I set up the drip system I've only had calmag+ and VegBloom in the res, stirring it up occasionally by hand. I go thru it in 3-4 days before having to refill. Everything is looking great I just don't want to run into any kind of issues. I usually run microbes and an organic based root/hormone booster. Are those okay to run in the res?
I was considering getting a little 75-100gal/hr pump to put in the bottom that goes off for a minute or two in between waterings and when the lights are off.. Just wanted a second opinion. Thanks for all the shared wisdom!

I use the life plus from V and B. But it mucks up my reservoir, so I use it as a root drench once a week or so.I think a pump to keep things mixed would help.

yeah the organics are fine , i do the same with my veg . i use vitamins & amino acids by microbelife .

a pump is also fine to keep things mixed , but it will drop your PH alot faster & you'll have to adjust alot more often .
