yeah the short time i did use it , i added the + size first at half the recomended dose & then just enough V&B to get to my desired EC .
after a couple rez fulls , i noticed the residue on the bottom & had to clean out my rez & pumps & lines so i didn't get clogs , i also didn't notice much change in my flowers so i just stopped using it all together . it was almost like a sand in the bottom & it can't be good for my pumps !!!

oh wow, thats crazy. sounds like theres some type of binding action going on there.

i was just messing around this last time with the koolbloom dry, and used it only, no other nutes. i took it up from 1.2up to 1.8 ec without burn or curl i wanted to see if anyone else tried this. my cindy99 exploded but shes a piggy, i might try it again, but i also have another single scoop formula im going to be trying with a few girls coming up soon.

oh with the koolbloom dry i was mixing in epsom salt until i got to
0.6ec in 5 gallons of RO, then adding 5 of the big side of the koolbloom scoop(think thats 1TBS) and it was usually about 1.8

Hello!

This is *quite* a thread :D Lots of information here, really awesome. Like many folks, I am searching for good performance and simplicity (I work a lot).. I was looking at the KISS method, and ran across this method.

I typically mix my tap with RO to get about 200 ppms (Hanna) and then go from there, I don't really want to go all RO, and my tap can creep up in the high 3's.

If I end up with 200ppm water and grow in coco (LED/HID mix), which product would work for me? They have a +size product which I'm assuming is a PK booster.. seems like a mixed review on this?

Also.. I've seen Golden Tree mentioned a few times now, and the *smell* of it :D Has anyone used Golden Tree in a rez?

Don't mean to drift, I guess I'd be tempted to try V/B, but not sure which to use..

Thanks in advance!

I was advised that if your water is over 50 ppm to get the HD formula. I guess the tap around here is pretty good, my tap comes out at 113 ppm/ pH 7.6 and a tsp of HD gets me to 620 ppm/ pH 5.9 which should be perfect since I'm gonna use it w/ pots of straight Coir and straight ProMix..... I might add a lil perlite or coir to the latter.

Thanks! I'm looking at the HD formula at their site now.. I'm about 70 coco/30 perlite.. I used to do the same with Happy Frog. Habit, I guess.

I mix ro with SoCal aka HARD tap and use the HD. I'd say just go for it and try a pound. IMO V+B is the perfect match of convenience and quality. If I had more time I might consider doing another non- V+B regiment for flowering.
I've seen good results in my garden and even better results from others gardens for flowers done with nothing more than V+B.
Maybe I'm just attached to habit of switching nutrients at 12/12 flip
I've had to switch back to another brand a couple of times because my local store didn't keep enough V+B on their shelves. Didn't want to mail order it. My plants showed no.downturn when I've bounced back to Dyna-gro and then come back to V+B

Talked with the VB guy a bit ago and he says that he'd been pushing for them to rename the HD to COCO formula due to the multiple sources of cal. Have a bunch of the RO formula to get through first but will be giving the HD a try next time.

I ran through a Lb of the HD last year. Pretty much the same results as the regular. Maybe a wee bit more colors in the finished product.

.3 EC talk about stingy with the nutes. I ran mine normal 1.5 - 1.6 at peak. No issues. That's in DWC with hydroton. Cant say for coco.

Peace

Yes... I meant to say as the starting point before adding v&b, that was what he was asking about. I shoot for 1.1-1.3 overall in most cases which ends up being around 3.5g/G with my water source.

gotcha. My well water is .3ec. I run my HD at 1.2-1.3 in bloom.

How are you guys using HD feeding in Promix.......
a) weekly
b) feed, feed, water
c) feed, water, feed

I'll be starting out with 2g/gal on some cuts and seedlings in a couple of weeks. I'll probably add 20% - 30% coir for aeration and some diatomaceous earth for pest control/silica to it as well, deciding between MycoGrow and Photosynthesis Plus for my mycos.

Back in the daze I grew a beastly plant in a 5 gallon Home Depot bucket of vermiculite and perlite using MG.... it turned out pretty good, starting wondering how the HD would respond to that type of medium. Found a giant ass bag of it cleaning up the other day that has barely even been used.
I feed my promix using HD feed/feed/water with great results. You will have ph up a little since it's made for coco after full strength mix you will be at 5.8ph. Used promix bx with 15% perlite, dolomite lime and earthworm casting. Good luck

Thanks Jay, wondering if I go with 50/50 promix/coco would I be able to use it w/o adding pH up? I know coco likes it around pH 5.5 - 5.8 and soilless around pH 6.0, when I mixed some up and had my buddy check it it came out to 5.9, that should be good for straight ProMix shouldn't it? I have some Armor Si that's 0-0-4, I got it for the EJ nutes I run from time to time, it raises the pH pretty respectably for me. I don't want it to interfere with the HD any, never used a pH up product before.

HYDRO: Coco Question

HYDRO: Coco Question

Anybody?

Thinking to modify my sprouting technique

Current method is to insert cracked seeds into Starter cubes. Once I see roots out the bottom I transfer to a ~ 3" net pot, then side fill with ornamental rock (see pic). Since the rocks don't wick, the cube stays pretty wet, risking root rot

New Idea

Line the net pot with coco coir, including the bottom and snug fit the cube. This will then go into my bubbler. Also, will apply a cap to cover the sprout from light

This will require minimal cc, but will increase heat/humidity a good thing at this stage

Once root system is developed each plant will go into a 2 liter air pot (4liter cut in half) this time side filled with polished ornamental rock.

The rock provides cooling, with lots of channels for roots to branch out
