Sorry. I haven't been feeling it lately.
A lot of shit has happened, some good, some not, mostly it was a long, slow grind that we all know as harvest. Inbetween there were flashes of other stuff but for the life of me, don't ask me to put it in any sort of order.
Dogs stole wifey's dinner a hour or so back. Hey, it was her fault, she left it where they could get at it so..... she ain't happy. In truth the dogs deserve that dinner way more than she does. At very least the dogs keep the rif-raf at bay, and she doesn't. More on that later, it still needs to have a spin put on it.
Say hello to Winter.
Or at least what passes for it around here. Ten named tropical systems this year (so far), and while each has missed, more than half have dragged rain up and over us. But between those storms, it was trying to get nice. I'm on the record as expecting a nice dry Winter.
It won't be so nice as to be able to pull a save. No, that ship has long sailed. The photoperiod is working against us. Growing in Winter is a far different animal than growing in Summer. It turns out two extra hours of daylight make a big difference. Even if Winter is totally sunny each and every day, your going to just get a quarter of what you would from a Summer plant. A Winter plant finishes on average about 55 days in the natural daylight. That same plant takes 80 days to finish over Summer.
Long story short, In Winter it takes twice the plants to harvest half of what you would get in Summer. Add to that Winter is our rainy season, this makes it a good time to shut down, and take a break.
But......
Since I am having such a good time this year, we ain't gonna do that. Only smart people qualify for time off, I need to keep banging my head into the wall for the rest of this year, then straight into the next one.
Ok. I know who my thief is. Dude's name is Clyde. I can tell you his last too, because he used to live in the area fifteen years ago. How do I know?
Story time.
I went to the store for a second. Mile there, mile back. Didn't wake up wifey, just left. No more than ten minutes later, I get back to find wifey in the driveway. Before I can say a word, she says;
"Either there is a male dog in the yard, or we are getting ripped off"
Think about that for a second... I'll wait.
Both of the girls were in heat. Right about the time where they are receptive. She has used the collars to pull the dogs from what they should be doing, and they are bouncing around on the other side of the gate, waiting for me to.... do ....something.
No male dog there.
Fuck.
Grab the controller from her, and off we go. Pass the plants, sure enough they've been hacked at. Dogs are waiting for me at the fence, up and over, off they go, me stumbling behind as fast as I can. Come to the top of the rise and there they are, about 100 yards ahead. But all they have to go to the next fence is about 20 feet. With the dogs on them one guy hurries up and hops the fence. The other guy had a limp, he tried to pour on the coal, but didn't move any faster. But he does get there just before my dogs get there, and makes it over.
I'm thinking these are Hawaiian Homes punks. We gotta get across the main road, but the dogs are gonna get them. They still got a long way to get home. As I get to the fence a white Toyota FJ swoops in and picks the fuckers up. Then I notice the male dog. At my feet.
On the other side of that fence is a big older German Shepherd male, and he is looking at my girls like.... Hmmmm. And they are looking at him like... the same way. Time to go home and see what they did. Later that day I retrace my steps to fence without the girls, and the German Shepherd goes nuts. Try it again, same thing.
See it yet? I didn't but this is when things started falling into place.
On my third trip down there I met the Brother in law. Explained what happened, how his dog didn't bark, then I described the guy with the limp and he says that's Clyde. Dog knows him. Next time I should just shoot him. But the house is unoccupied, and Clyde is an icehead. You know what that means.
Today I wake up, slap the collars on the dogs, turn off the alarm, and start the coffee. Just as I'm starting to sip it, in comes Red, with a blue gardeners glove in her mouth. She drops it at my feet.
WTF? That ain't mine! This won't be good.
Run outside, alarm was on, how did this happen? Into the gulch.... everything is there. Grab the controller, follow her path, on the other side of the baracade is a big area of pushed down grass. Trail leads down back over the fence to the house. I didn't hear it, slept right through it but we had visitors last night. I do remember them hopping back into bed wet sometime last night.
See what I mean. I ask you. Between a worthless wife and two kick ass dogs which of the three really deserved that dinner? Nuff said.
My crystal ball tells me Green Harvest will fly the BI on Monday. Seems logical, they flew here this week. Then on Friday morning two of the choppers that flew here buttoned up and headed over there. I watched them go.
The last two plants on the Summer (south) side of the gulch have been taken, all of the weeds pulled and clover has been planted. That is now put to sleep for the next six months. I have yet to open the Winter (north) side up. The center of the gulch is fully planted.
On to the esteemed Peanut Gallery....

soserthc1.... what an armpit. Life is tough. Gotta look into renting that pig for a month. Which do you think costs more? Renting the boat, or renting the broad? or is that some kinda package (no pun intended) deal?
Arthritis_sucks. Wow. Unless you got something more in flower than you are showing us, I'd say O'ahu rips are desperate. Correct me if I'm wrong but you got nothing worth stealing.... yet. If you don't have kids I'd consider sitting the cage on insulators and running household current through it. Better yet a dog or two.....
