All the different rooms...........

thc43- sounds like it's working for you, if it aint broke.......

best with the least sucking air noise.

if you have sucking air noise, it's usually due to leak somewhere in the air line.

bullseye-I agree with nitetiger, most quality fans run forever. Some people use the wrong size fan, but even then, the thing will still run. Some rooms, like the one pictured above, don't pull fresh air (cool air) through the light runs, but pull straight out of the room, so by the time the air exhausts, it's about 90-100 degrees. Hot, but never hot enough to ruin a fan.

Still a good thread. For anyone looking for the be all end all thread with everything you need to know, this entire website has it you just have to search for it, do a little work. If you don't have the time to search this place you will never have the time for a grow. There are old threads that have tons of useful info in them. No question is a dumb question but many have been answered before. Good luck to all with your grows.

Sonoma - K+++

I can't believe I've never come across this thread.

Check this, can you tie a 2.5 ton ac unit with a 3 ton blower into the hoods - say 8 600's or 8 1kw's to cool them down? Pull the return air right across the lights? Or will that put too much of a strain on the ac unit/blower?

Great thread Sonoma.

A step by step tutorial would be time consuming, and I don't know how many people who patroll this site would benefit from it much more than its entertainment value.

That said, I would like to see some kind of an outline for setting up one of the rooms you have shown. And not for the "how to do it" type of advice, but the what not to do. In the future I'd like to run a room on a similar scale, and when I do I'd like to know some of the bigger problems you could have avoided on your first large run.
Ways to cut costs in the first run? What you can't do without, what you can? etc...

Garden looks good...

Strainwhore-I think you could do that, but I don't think it would cool the lights much more than if you where pulling air from outside the room. I would use the 2.5 ton to cool the room, instead of cooling the lights.

Germanator-I think you are right. I like the idea for an outline, that's less time consuming, and probably more helpful. I'll work on that.

Ways to cut costs in the first run? What you can't do without, what you can? etc...

There are so many factors that come into play when doing this, so it's very hard to say, but......

Big problems...
1. general location
2. people involved
3. actual room location
4. electrical (lives are at risk with this one)
5. venting and fresh air
6. plant selection/source
7. pest and disease control
8. water and nutrient quality
9. Temperature control
10. people involved (sometimes that means you)

Those are the problems that first came to mind, but I'm sure there are more. Also, those are the things you can't do without.

I'll think about the other questions and get back to you.

6. Already something I would not have thought too much about untill the end. I think in the case of selection... going with something mold resistant/heavy yielding/indica, the 1st run...or simply going with genetics you are familiar with.

Any advice along the lines of #4 will be greatly appreciated. There is a ton of do it yourself wiring information on IC but that is not what a non electrician wants to read.
