All the different rooms...........

Hey Sonoma I see nothing much has changed in the participation department, lol I bitch too much.I just shut down my commercial grow for awhile,2 lbs per 1K in soil is a realistic goal.I remember on Overgrow thinking that people were just plain lying through their teeth,I was naive.I wouldn't mind trying 600s when I start up again keeping the finished plants under 3 ft but damn everything is just so expensive.Ballasts lamps or any replacements for 600s are normally more than for 1K's.

Sonoma.........thanks for your help.....

Thanks again for your time Sonoma.........My suggestion for a "tutorial' on portable electrical timer boxes and relay setups as well as environmental control along with HVAC and useage of multiple 600`s for wider lumen dispursement in your rooms already shown had NOTHING to do with NARCS, but rather the difference between people being able to obtain the equipment and get it put together without knowing what the hell they`re doing and potentially causing electrical overload/fire cuz they had to make do without proper instructions......... DHF....... :joint:......IS......chill

Beautiful work! I hope some day my rooms will look as nice and clean as yours. I have been using 1000's my whole growing career. I have just recently been contemplating using 600's. I like to grow my plants a little larger. For me I find I get a better yield if I finish them around 4 feet (not including the pot) tall. Do you think using 600's and only growing to three feet max will give me a larger yield? I have tried in the past and it didn't quite work out the way I wanted it too. It could be because I was not experienced enough at the time, who knows. So, do you really think there is a large difference in yield using 600's instead of 1000's, and is it worth the money to switch say 20 lights? Thanks in advance!

Time is so precious.....

Time is so precious.....

NorCal- as far as the 14" fan....I have to put my hand on it to make sure it's on. I have 2-10" Can-fan MAX's for my light runs, 6 lights each run, and those are loud, but not as loud as the old 10" fans, but I wish I would've got the 14" for my light runs too.

The American-I only have as much time as I give....as for changing to 600 watt lights, well, 1000's work good too, so if you have them, use them until you can change over. Or, build 2 rooms, use the 1000's you have in one room, and the new 600's in another.

DEDHEDFRED-Electrical knowledge is key, I don't know where to start with that...but there are a few safe tricks. As a renter, tenant, owner, there are a few things to look for to gain easy power.
1. Clothes Dryer
2. Electric stove
3. hot tub
All of these things run on 30-50 amp breakers, and convenientlly there is a plug-in recepticle for each. I can explain more if anyone would like to know, but that is the easiest way to gain safe power.

bullseye-There are all sorts of ways to vent stealth. Where is your setup? bedroom, basement? I've vented under my house, into the attic, through the attic, through the roof, into a living space. Depends on the room.

TGT-it's hard to say which way works best, what works for some may not work for others, but 600's do cover more ground, and according to the lumen charts, they are better than the 1000's, is it worth it....I don't know, but I have changed 3 large rooms, because I thought it was worth it.

Neptune- thanks for keeping me on my toes.....

Here are the newest pics I have....All new plumbing, and started bloom cycle a couple of days ago.

Thanks all!!

great rooms and great information.

I have a question about venting as you mentioned above. You stated that you vented into a living space? I have a string of 4-600w lights that i have to vent into a semi-living space (closed off room, 10' x 10'). How hot was the room that you vented in? I will be pulling fresh air from outside to cool the lights and that air will have to be venting into the adjacent room. I considered pulling air from the room and venting it outside using a dryer vent; however, i already have a dryer vent on a seperate window on that same side of the house. Too suspicious with two dryer vents on the same side of the house? Let me know what you think.
Thanks for the help.

Nitetiger- it's time for you to come home, there's lots of work to do.

RamCTD1027-I would probably opt to vent the hot air out, since you have a choice. But, if you don't want another dryer vent, you can vent into a room, but it will get into the 80's at least, unless you live somewhere cold. Another dryer vent could be suspicious if someone was real observant/nosey. But, you could install the dryer vent down low, and lean something against it, or plant a bush to hide it.
The main factor with that will be smell. No matter which way you pull the air, the smell will get through, so dumping smelly air into a room is better than into your neighbors yard. However, if you sealed the lights and ducting, so they were air tight, theoretically, smell wouldn't be a problem. I have yet to see a light run that doesn't pull air from inside the room(smelly air), and believe me I've tried. hope that helps....

thanks....

Careful, you'll end up with a guy that looks like he hiked 3000 miles show up at your door :D

Or at least wandering around looking dazed muttering "Sonooooomaaaaa......"

Sorry, but maybe in your scale of a room, but that isn't true for everyone. I have a 6" with filter, a 4" with filter and a 10" with filter. 6" is for lights, 4" recirculates and 10" is for general venting. I don't have any smell issues... also, pushing air will keep smell out of your light exhaust.

no apologies necessary....Pushing air isn't the best way, pulling cool air over the lights is more efficient. By pushing air, you are causing far more friction, and with friction comes more heat. However, pushing air is a less likley way for smell to get through, because you'd be lucky if the any air came out the end of your duct. If you push air through your lights, you are undoubtably pushing hot air through any leaks in the ducting or hoods and into your room. Now, if you are talking about a small setup 1 or 2 lights, or a cabinet, then the difference would be nominal.

I don't advise pushing air through your ducting!!!

Not trying to hijack the thread, but more on the venting...

If I Push air from the adjacent room through the string of 4-600w lights and then through a scrubber and out the window through a dryer vent, do you think there will be any odor problems? This is a sealed room so the ducting is sealed as much as possible and there is no other air entering/exiting the room. There is a scrubber/fan in the room scrubbing/recirculating the air in the room also as well as a handful of fans blowing air around the canopy.

Thanks again for the help.

I would pull air, but I think that will work great, but a dryer vent through the window could cause suspicion if it's in a visible spot.

go for it! :headbange

hey sonoma unreal grow rooms..

ye old push or pull.. ive heard the way i have my filter set up is backwards but its working well and quieter so cant see a reason for change just yet. I Suck air from or above lights in flower room through duct, muffler into fan blowing through a Boxed carbon filter ducted outsude. After playing with different filter, fan, muffler and duct combos this what suited my room best with the least sucking air noise.

does pulling air from lights be it cooltubes or vented shades not shorten the life of your fan , a guy brought a warped fan back to my local hydo store he had been pulling hot air from 3cooltubes thruogh it them bulbs get awfully hot ?

Nah, he dropped it or something, those fans are made to move air. Plus, with continuous pulling, the air going through it is really not that hot.
