african duban goodness?

com'on, lets see that dank native durban pics. with africanseeds.com gone, is there any other true durban seed sources in africa?

lets see some sticky dp

Here's some Durban Poison from local stock I'm growing now.

Dried and busy curring:

Young DP bud:

Another young bud:

Same bud 2 weeks later:

Some Malawi gold just for interest sake:

Thanks Dunkirk, Well as for my thoughts on the strains, I’m pretty happy with the way they turned out. I harvested one of the DP’s that was ready and she’s very sticky, covered in crystals and quite pungent smelling, a bit like fuel but sweeter but when she’s touched it releases a rather stinky skunkish smell too so I can’t wait to smell her when the buds are cured :canabis: Besides the smell, DP is very tough and wit stood 3 days of –3 weather at night due to a huge cold front a while back. Both girls were easy to grow but a bit hard to train to stay low as they just want to grow into huge monsters, and fast too! Not the most potent strain but very nice and pure, trippy high.

The Malawi was also an ease to grow, no problems with her except a bit of drowning at one stage when the pot she was in wasn’t draining well but I soon diagnosed and sorted that out! Apparently Malawi doesn’t start producing descent amounts of resin until late into flowering, so I’m still waiting to see as she’s about half way through flowering now and the buds are beginning to fatten up a bit also quite a good amount of trich’s already :D

The Malawi only packs on its resin in late flowering as you say, and it doesn't get very frosty, but the potency is still high.

Thanks for the info African herbman. Look forward to hearing how the Malawi turns out, nice to hear about the ease of growth!

My little Malawi’s fattening up nicely now especially after I did some heavy lower bud-sit trimming.

Here’s some of the same pics I’ve posted in “Revival of the ultimate sativa thread”

Main cola when I last posted:

Same cola now:

African Herbman ummmm looks soooooo good! I just got my Malawi Gold and Durban Poison from the Seedsman. Their ad says they are "wild seeds" from SA breeders, not Dutch crosses from Holland. Do you know anything about that?

Gonna be scary for me trying to grow those out. I'm afraid they will go out of control. I need to learn about keeping them small with pot size, LST, etc. I have time since I cant grow them till january since I just began a grow of other strains.

Thanks for pics!!

Nice buds there African Herbman. Now THAT looks more like the dp I have seen here in RSA...as for the Swazi.. I have yet to get stoned from Swazi. The little swazi bud in the picture looks very different to the suff you pic up on the streets. The word "Swazi" in RSA has become somewhat of a joke. What is sold as swazi is basically "jatt". Jatt is the name we give the poor quality weed for sale in South Africa.

Hi Oblidio49, the Malawi and Dp seeds could very possibly be the real deal.
I think it’s fairly common practice for any serious seed banks to send guys in to collect prime seeds from good breeders in certain countries, so if that’s the case the seeds you receive should be of good quality.

It’s not too difficult to keep the sativas small, you just have to get a bit rough with them some times, the plants can handle it since they are weeds after all lol.
I think it’s easier on the landrace sativas more than hybridized strains since the landrace sativas are wild and used to the struggles of outdoor growing and can be manipulated more without fear of killing them.
Malawi gold is known for growing big, but look how little mine is. Her size is the result of germing late in the season and flowering as soon as she was naturally able too, and I LST’d her around the bottom of the pot in a coil pattern so all the side branches grew upward.

cheers

Some of the best zol i have ever had was swazi.....there are some great great treasures to be found in the swazi genes. I was lucky enough to grip some swazi on a trek and it was a chocolate pheno...darker in colour and smelled like choc w/ cure...it was insaaaaaaaane! unfortunately most of the street zol is full on jatt, they keep the good stuff for themselves..cant blame them hey..

Yea, that swazi was grown by a friend of mine. If I had only seen it when it was dry I would of thought it wasn’t swazi but I saw it while it was growing and it clearly was.
I know what you mean about the name swazi being a joke, there’s too much cheap mass-grown, heavily seeded, sweat-cured crap swazi being sold, giving the real swazi a bad name. It’s unfortunate since swazi is pretty killer smoke if you get the right stuff.

RAGGA MON, that’s a nice looking plant there, do you know what it was? Do you still have seeds/crosses? I love those thin leaves.

Regards everyone,
Ah

I also have some seeds from some stuff i picked up outside jo'burg that put me on my ass. im about to give these another crack indoors this time...ill keep ya updated w/ pics and all.

Yo Ragga Mon.

Lovely plant there m8. Best local zaan I ever had was Ciskei. Yummy, tell you what. Was that bud grow from seed? Stunner, gonna kick some ass. There are local strains (RSA) thats knocked me flat before, I am searching for some to grow. Think I found something sick... This thing is in a greenhouse, and a very dark type of green in the leaves. nice and tall. THICK stem. Its gonna be a monster yeild on Nitrosol for the summer vedge ahead. Fingers crossed for dank shyte

Hey guys, check these plants out.
I found them on the side of the road and thought they looked interesting so I adopted 4 different phenos of them so I could have some variation.
They look like some deep African strains to me because of the growth pattern.

The one is very indica looking but judging by the other ones and its growing pattern, I think it is full-on sativa, it may thin out as it grows. Cool looking leaves though none the less.

Fatter leaved pheno:

Leave of same plant:

Thinnest leaved pheno, notice how well developed the side branches are for it’s height! (All the plants are wilting a bit because of being transported around a lot but are recovering):

What you guys think?
Cheers,
Ah

AHM...
Yo bro,
I think the top 2 dont remind of anything African I have ever seen. The bottom one definitly a looker of SA herb. Whats up with the plants atm? How'd you get them to that stage without flowering? Indoors? (lol@ the riccoffy tincan) How old are the pics? I had a male with leaves shaped almost like the top 2. It was grown from a seed I found in a bud grow from mj I purchased in Jozi earlier this year. That strain is sold as "white ice". The leaves remind me of that. (def not sativa only). Bottom line: i am speculating here.. what ya planning to do with them ?
