african duban goodness?

mudbutt,
She’s coming along nicely, getting nice and fat but is still putting out fresh white hairs, she just doesn’t want to stop LOL.
I can’t confirm that Malawi gold has got thcv, I do believe it does though due to what I’ve been told by so many people. Apparently a lot of African strains have thcv or so I’ve heard.

Here’s a pic of her I posted else were in the forum, I’ll get some more up as soon as the camera’s charged.

Ah

those look like little clones or something like that..

so that´s outdoors grown?
and the final smell? im guessing its not gonna burn up like dank..
if you know what i mean.. some whitewidow or something like that smell like factory made candy when its done.. this will probably have more of a plant smell/taste to it? or am i wrong??

Hi everyone, sorry for the very late reply. Been on holiday for a while.

mudbutt, yes it is outdoor grown. The smell has got a nice sweet, fruity kind of smell along with that classic pungent sativa smell when alive. I don't know the smell of the cured buds as this is the first time growing it for me. I will post a smoke report when the buds are done curing and will let you know how the final smoke and smell is like.

highonthechroni, yea it is a bit leafy, I use a tea made from "Ecoland" bat guano and molasses for flowering along with small amounts of other things as the plant needs them such as Epsom salts etc.

Nice one... Please tell me more about molasses and why the guys feed it towards the end of flowering?

Stunning little bud. Bet it kicks like a mule.. i am flowering a bagseed sativa atm.... Smelling like pine needles! I love the smell.... I think SA sativa is some of the best I have had sofar.
What is happening in your garden atm?

Ticktickbong, thanks man. I think a lot of guys use molasses because it’s a good organic source of phosphorus, got some good carbohydrates, helps improve soil etc etc. There’s a good sticky in Growers forum – organic soil, worth a good read

I agree with you about SA sativas, got some really good gems here, so much unlocked potential out there.

At the moment I’m nearly ready to harvest my little Malawi, got a bunch of DP’s growing outdoors to try find a good keeper or two, 2 Swazi’s growing and my 4 unknown sativas are doing well. I plan to grow some really good local sativas like rooibaart, Malawi Gold, the Swazi I posted pics of in an earlier post etc indoors as soon as my closet’s done and I’m planning on making some awesome crosses from my landrace genetics.

Here's some pics.

Swazi male that autoflowered, using for breeding:

Hey AH!
nice pics boet........may i suggest not breeding with this male. Autoflowering is not a trait that you want to pass onto your offspring. could lead to a huge mess when you are vegging and especialy indoors brah.
one,
ragga

Thanks guys.
I used that Swazi male to pollinate a very early flowering unknown female, it’s just a stupid cross I’m making just to see what comes of an auto flowering male and early flowering female. The male will be destroyed afterwards.

You guys are right about not wanting auto flowering traits in offspring, all my usual intentional crosses are always done with very strict selection of genetics, phenos and only the best seeds make it to germ. All deformed and immature seeds are discarded.
Using this male for breeding is just for shits and giggles really.

Here’s one of my babies after having a shower of Seagro fish emulsion and molasses foliar feed:

I went and visited the place I found my plants on the side of the road in Kempton and there is about another 8 more growing, some really nice looking ones too. Pity I can’t take them, not enough room. If anyone wants, I’ll let them know where they are if anyone wants to adopt a couple.

LOL! I would love to know where they are happening! What a healthy looking plant! Is this a plant you "picked up"? If it is, then there is someone in the area that’s smoking foreign strains(non sativa). That is definitely not a typical SA plant. Agreed?
Thanks for the explanation regarding the molasses. I picked ap some from SPAR at the weekend.. Tastes yummy.. my grandfather used to feed it to the cows that had calves..."Makes the milk sweeter" he what he used to say.
Maybe you should go and sex them plants in the bush and kill the males off...? I bet it's another skyfer's guerilla plantation...wicked.

Ticktickbong, I’ll draw you a map of the location of the plants and PM it to you as soon as I have time. I’ve been very busy and haven’t had time to draw you up a map.
You should go have a look as soon as possible as the plants are getting a bit big, so it’s only a matter of time before they get pulled since they’re in full view.

And yes.. that plant in the pic is one of the ones I picked up, it was the only one to show such broad leaves. It’s such a f***ing confusing plant, broad leaves like an indica, but same growth as sativa (node spacing, lanky etc). I topped it recently and smoked the cuttings (just to see if it is sativa or indica) and it has a very sativa high, very much like swazi. The high was weak from the new leaves but it was enough to tell.

I harvested my Malawi today, decent yield from such a tiny plant, here’s some pics:

Cheers,
Ah.

Hey what’s up everybody, haven’t been posting for a while so I took some pics today for anyone who’s interested.

Toped my broad-leaved un-known plant to keep height down and promote some good branching.

Well, that’s what’s happening up my end…Ticktickbong, did you get my PM about those plants?

I don't suppose a plane ticket and accommodations are included with that offer ? :nono:

I'm curious what comes out of your auto-flowering male crosses. I always like the idea of growing out plants with the less desirable traits, there always could be some latent crazy genes that could produce some real winners in there (or not :)). Regardless, it's always fun to experiment.

Are there any reliable sources for us North American's to get some African beans?

m1....

adehadee, Thanks man, I’m glad you like!
mallyone, LOL, unfortunately not man, unless I win the Lotto anytime soon ; )

The female that received the auto flowering male’s pollen died because I had to do some last minute watering before I went away for the weekend and in the panic I must have looked past her cos when I got back home she was extremely wilted. She hung on for a few days after I watered her but unfortunately didn’t make it. It’s no real loss though, just would off been interesting to see what came of it.

As for reliable sources of African genetics, I honestly don’t know, but I’m in the process of doing some landrace crosses with some really special phenos I’ve been collecting. So I might be able to swing some beans your way if you really want. This will be a while still but I’ll PM you if I make some plans sooner ; )

Here’s a little update of the garden, hope you guys enjoy!

Stunning garden bruv. really healthy looking babies there. (i have been on leave, hence the belated reply..soz)

I have recently picked up some bagseed and found a fatleaved plant or two in there. Local bagseed of course. These plants are all indoors though. I know its secon prise, as we have the ideal conditions for mj to thrive. where I am the soil is particularly good for them it seems.
In the meantime the females from this grow are smaller then her predecessors(from the same supplier). All in all I think you will have a decent yeild there. I have now started looking at growing differently with so many different varieties in our bagseed here. I have seen some extremely thin leaved sativas that doesnt even remind one of proper mj!!

Are you only growing outdoors? Wish I had the space and time. I have only one baby in my actual garden atm. A baby Nirvana Bubbalicious... tiny little stragler that I am hoping will swell sooner than later.

What are you puffing atm?

@Mallyone: there are so many african seeds around just in my circle of friends that you could start a real forrest anytime. could drop a few in the post, but I have quite far to go to send and receive pm's. Why dont you visit weed.co.za I will find tyoyu there, and take the query further.
I believe I will need to have posted 50 times before being able to send or receive pm's here. All worth the wait with so many admirers around!

Many if not all the guys on the southern tip of Africa should have plenty beans spare. These usualy end up in the trash can after a cleaning session. I have decided to save all the seeds I get in contact with from about a month ago. They are mainly sativa by the looks of the plants that sprout from the seed.

I have now encountred a very potent sample plant female. Looks like a DP, stone is very trippy and perhaps a tad too much for a one-person-one-joint scenario. Being a heavy hobbyist, even I find a full spliff overwhelming. The greatest thing is that there are 4-5 clones from this mommy, and I have some G13 X NYCD pollen waitng in a pill container. An offspring girl should be quite a cracker!

Meanwhile I have found a new plant of interest. Clivia. Also medicinal, but just a very pretty thing to see in ones garden.

Please send new updates?

Ticktickbong, thanks for the compliment dude. All my plants are outdoor for the moment as I’ve never had an indoor setup but it should finally be up and running by next week. I got all my lights, timer etc this weekend and the “rig” is almost fully assembled. It’s going to be an all fluoro grow at 402 watts in a +- 5x2x5 foot cabinet.
I just finished the last of the Malawi gold last weekend, and I was unfortunately relatively under whelmed to be honest. So now I’m puffin on the last of my compressed Kenyan bud at the moment.

Here’s a little update:
Surprisingly all four of the plants up picked up on the side of the road have shown their sex, (does anyone think this may be auto-flowering, or are the nights still long enough now to effect the more photo sensitive plants?) three females and one male. I will us the male to pollinate all the females so I can have seeds for future growth when I have more space to grow them out properly.

Please excuse the crap pics, the camera was on some sensitive setting I couldn’t get off.
Male and female in one box (I would have separated them but the female was too weak to handle it at the time)

Really nice pics AH, wanna get my hands on a gardener like you, ;-). The nights are a lot shorter now, and we are looking over way over 12 hours light per day.

Sunrise: 05:29 Sunset: 18:16

Could perhaps be from transplant!????

Why not just let the females go instead of fertilising them? Or use them as testers in your indoor setup.

Peace.

...or simply chop the male down if you dont need him. I may know someone with interesting pollen in the jhb area if you would like to let her seed a bit. he would send you some in a little bag if you asked him.

I dont skiem the plant has issues...to my mind its normal for plants to show teir sex during vegging, no?...to my eye those plants look old enough to show sex... what say Lowrider about this one?

Like Lr said there, maybe use them as testers in your new indoor setup. I hope your setup works well man. Theres nothing better IMO than not having to worry about who will check your plants and who not.

Good luck with the hookup man, its quite a moment ;-) Its an accomplishment and guts of note.

Regards

Thanks guys, the reason I want to fertilize the females is so that I can continue these genetics after the plants have been harvested. I think they’re Swazis, and very nice looking ones too, so if they produce well in flower I would be stupid not to continue these good genetics by making seeds.

Ticktickbong, thanks for the offer, that pollen sounds interesting, do you know what strain it is from?

Cheers,
Ah
