Advice, tips or tricks for building and running a sealed room needed.

Shit is gonna be sweet..swizziiiit. I ran a sealed room for a little bit, only 3500k, but still a grow. I have been checking out the pics of this set-up, and i wanna know, do you have passive air exchange in the roof of your barn. I see you put insulation on the roof trusses. A cieling below that with insulation on the top. Then you can put air exchange holes with screens in the gables. If not, like me your gonna have problems with negative pressure and big time condensation in the building. A giant dehuey will solve this, but then it has to work almost all the time. Having the ceiling/roof set up like a house is the way to go.(I learned this through trial and error). I would paint everything white, then go the orca route, then when shit happens(bugs, mold, whatever) the walls are already white if ya have to take down the orca.Man your making me wish i still had my old spot and set-up:comfort:. Keep up the great work:thank you:

Hey man just wanted to say that your grow is looking very professional, great craftsmanship all around. Was wondering what your plans were for the floor? Be sure to run some type of sealant along the edges of the floor and wall as this will stop any water from wicking up into the drywall. Same goes along the top of the walls and corners. I didn't notice where you were from, if its a warmer area leaving the concrete bear will help to passively cool the room, but if its a colder climate I'd def suggest putting some type of insulation and flooring system down, radiant heat using PEX piping could be run under a raised floor and is a very efficient, uniform way to heat the space. And I was wonder if there is an open attic type space above the ceilings? It wouldn't be too expensive to run a 1/2 copper line above the rooms and have drops to install hose connections, with the amount of water you'll need for that many watts, I imagine a few hundred bucks now will save you a ton of time down the road. Just my 2cents. I'm an apprentice plumber, by no means a master yet, but if you have any heating/plumbing related questions I'd be more than happy to help. Cheers

Hey there coldcanna. I'm gonna have pond liner on the floor coming up the walls about 6 inches so no moisture problems there. Also got the ceiling as well as the walls covered in panda/Orca so it is sealed up pretty damn tight.

I don't have water running to the barn so no fancy irrigation or anything like that going in.

Hey 3rd have ya got that new mini split yet? Anxious to get your opinion of the install. Also wanna hear more about the new lights. Like how much heat they put off.

A/C should be here Friday I believe. Still haven't plugged up a light yet, hopefully today or tomorrow though.

Yeah the roof was redone last year with a steel roof and a ridge vent was put in so it's breathable. If need be I'll put in an additional shutter/fan combo.

I imagine it will be a process getting this spot dialed in completely but that is the goal.

Thanks for the positive words.

Not sure if you found this or not. This has gotta be the only true plug and play unit I've seen.

Yep, that's the one G. I'm hoping it is better quality than the Ideal air/ Frost Box type quick connect units.

Yeah, that video is what convinced me that even a pot head could do it lol. We'll find out soon enough. I really like the fact that it seems to come with everything needed, pad, tubing bender ect.

Oh yeah, 5 year warranty on parts as well.

Got a little more work done today. Panda on the ceiling and every, I mean every, seam taped with either Orca tape or high temp foil tape. Shit is as sealed as a frogs bottom.

Nice sealing job bro, well worth the hassle for sure.
I installed a 12k btu Friedrich quick connect for a friend last year and can tell you that it's ridiculously easy to install. Seriously. I was at that friends house last weekend and he's had zero problems with it. The quality is superior to Frostbox. In fact, Frostbox was such crap that they're no longer made. I think you made a wise choice with the Friedrich, well worth the coin.:ying:

The room's are taking shape real nice 3rd. Think I would have used white pant on the ceiling tho, But then again I'm sure you had help. I can never find help unless it's to smoke the fruits of my labors. Darlin would try to help but the poor thing just can't. She does make a good trimmer tho :D
I still wanna see how cool those lights run, Maybe fire them up before the ac is put in to see how much heat they really put out.

Tomorrow

Oh, I did use white paint on the ceiling, then I covered it in the panda. The paint was more for the mold/mildew prevention, the panda just is icing on the cake.

Hey Devoted1, I wish I had a really easy method but I don't. Definitely have help if that's possible, I couldn't imagine doing it myself. Luckily my wife was able to help.

At first I was going to try to wrap the room in two pieces, not cutting at the corners. Way to difficult for me to keep it level. I ended up cutting each wall piece separately and then stapled with a staple gun. keep the staples in a row so it will be easy to tape over them.

We did the bottom of the wall first and then went back and did the top half of the wall. Of course the first sheet we did was the worst and they last one was the best. I guess it just takes some getting used to.

Hope something in there helps you out.:tiphat:

thanks bro, it does help a lot!

Glad to hear.

looking good in here! you will be up and running in no time!!! :)

Thanks Adrift, I hope so. AC gets delivered tomorrow and should be in by the end of the week. Just picked up 16 air pots(3.4 gal).
Let's see what 4 per 1K can do.

Got some lights up and the controller wired up.

Also started covering the veg room in panda.

Just waiting on my indoor room to finish up so I can start moving equipment out to the rooms. Should be able to start trimming here in a couple days and get things moving.

I would love to be shocked.:) I've been getting 4-6 zips a piece off 4 under 600's so it does seem 8 under the 1K should be feasible. Maybe not the first run or anything but eventually.

Do you do a lot of topping in veg? I've meant to ask you to get a good pic of one of your ladies on flip day.

Is this close to the size of yours or do you go bigger?

I am used to cleaning up the bottoms pretty good.

Thanks PK, can't wait I am so close. If I can get anywhere close to the level you and Adrift are playing at (albeit on a smaller scale) then I will be one happy mutha.

Thanks for stopping by guys, hopefully we'll be getting some green in them white rooms soon.

Once you get this barn dialed in .... Its gonna be EPIC !!! Your plan is solid & it works great ! Adrift style plants work great as we're both finding out !!!
I'm freakin jealous as hell brother !!! :tiphat:

I'm really liking the 4 drippers per 3 gallon smart pots . if the drip rings didn't go for 8 bucks a piece ... i'd be trying them .

Thanks dans. I'll probably be hand watering the first crop or two while I get used to the new pots. I like the idea of four droppers per pot.

My mini split should be here today. Super stoked to finally get it.
