Update

Hi folks,

It's been a while and I figured I'd post an update so here goes..

Over the summer I fought in the dreaded Mold War. I lost quite a few colas before deciding to shutdown and scrub up. I took the opportunity to do some more sealing, painted with mold resistant paint and put Reflectix on the walls.

I've redone the lighting in my cabs with Tek-5 floro lighting. There's a 2' 2-lamp fixture in the Clone Zone along with a new DIY bubble cloner from my bud SP.

The Mother space has a 2' 4-lamp Tek-5 and together with the one in the Clone Zone the temps have dropped dramatically. Below you can seem my 2yr old hierloom Mrs Lemon Lifesaver along with my Royal Chronic cross as well as a cut of Purple Urkle and Trainwreck from my bud SP.

The plants in the Veg cab stretch a lot less under the Tek-5 than they did with the 250w MH. I've got another 2' 4-lamp fixture here.

Here we have my Royal Hawaiian x Chronic cross I call Royal Chronic at about 20 days of flower.

I'm not really going to bother with a grow log on the Royal Chronic, but as you can see from an earlier post, I have more seeds from my crossbreeding experiment. I did this mostly as a test to experience the process rather than create a breeding program, I'll leave that to real breeders. I'll probably post from time to time and eventually post a photo of the end result. Who know's, one can always get lucky when they roll the genetic dice ;)

Cheers!

Welcome back Hempy!

Would love to know how Royal Chronic compares to its parents in ease of growing , taste and yield

As far as ease of growing, I had the damnedest time trying to clone Chronic and gave up. The Royal Hawaiian has always been very easy to clone, easiest strain I've had. The Royal Chronic seems to be the same a RH, cloned easy and grows really fast.

I'll be sure to post on the yield and taste when the first plants are harvested.

Cheers!

Royal Chronic Update

Royal Chronic Update

A quick update on the Royal Chronic...

The Test Buds
I've harvested and sampled some buds from the first test grow. Here's a pic:

The buds were not large as the plant was restricted to a small container for testing. They were also grown in a soil-less mix from SP.

They have the familiar smell of Chronic cat piss at first whiff, but upon bruising, reveal a deep stink not unlike the Royal Hawaiian.

The taste was not appreciable due to it not having had proper cure time. It tasted a little earthy but a bit harsh with a slight menthol-like burn on the lips and tongue.

I found the high to be quite pleasant and found that it relaxed me right away so much that I suddenly had the urge to use the bathroom.

The Hydro Buds
Here's the most recent photo of the oldest and largest Royal Chronic in the Garden.

She's just passing 9 weeks and easily could use 2 more. For reference, the crossbars on the cages are 12" long.

Anyway, back to the Garden...

Keep it clean and green!

Hey man, good to see ya around! Looks like you've been busy with the green - sure looks nice. Love the way you've built out the cages - haven't seen those green cross pieces around, gonna have to go look for some.

Be safe and happy :D

The cages are Ultomato Tomato Cages (you can google up a dealer). Each package comes with 3 poles and like 9 crossbars. I bought like 15 of them so I could make square cages instead of triangles.

It's great because I can just unsnap one side and swing out of the way for access to the plants.

They really help hold up the branches with big buds as well as keep the plants within their allotted space in the garden.

Cheers!

I believe you can get them at gardeners . com. They have several kinds of tomatoe cages. I used them last year with great success for tomatoes and peppers.

Nice grow Hempy!

Here's the first Royal Chronic that's been grown in my hydro system.

It's a freakin' monster! I had to lop that part off the top of the plant so I could get to the rest of the branches.

The next strains we have coming up are Trainwreck and Purple Urkle. Following those will be some Kill Bill.
