A walk through Hempy's Garden

do you typically add 5gal for every 5gal of nutrients you mix, is that what you're saying? do you do it like that and try to adjust the ppm after everything recirculates, or do you recirculate 5/add 5gal and then flush every other week?

i have an almost identical setup, and your results are looking stellar, inquiring minds want to know. big ups mate!

Hempy, how do you like your MegaGarden?

Please tell me how tall, typically, your plants are when moving from veg to flower?

I have heard that they usually about double in size from beginning of flower to end...is this true?

I love the MegaGarden. It's perfect size for the old Mills Pride C13 cabinets. I can always start extra plants then pick the best to go into flower. Ones that don't end up as the next round of clones.

I usually pull the plants out of the veg cab when they are about 30" tall. Once in flower, depending on strain, amount of light and distance, they can stretch from 1' to almost double in size to 60".

I'm only running two 600w's on movers and they don't drop down on the plants so I get a little more stretch than I want in strains that are stretchy.

My Royal Chronic strain was a beast for this, they would grow so tall I'd have to top them or they would hit the lights! On the other hand, my Lifesaver and the Purple Urkle I ran barely stretched at all.

My RO reservoir dumps 5 gallons at a time, so I usually think in 5 gallon units. I have the top part of my res marked at the 10 gallon line. I start each run with two fills (20gal total) of the res with a good flower nute regime. I then add water as needed for next 3 weeks.

It's at this point I usually pump 5 gallons out of buckets into the res, mix in 5 gallons of water and let it flow back into system. Then I add a 10 gallong top off of an extra strong batch of nutes and let 'er go.

Top off with water for 3 more weeks then do another recirculation and then a 10 gallon top off of nutes with some bloom boosters. Add water as needed for the remainder of the grow until harvest. After harvest, the entire system is purged and scrubbed clean.

Since I've switched to the Floranova line, I don't bother with PPM anymore. I don't have any pH issues and the plants have always looked healthy. I am absolutely thrilled with the results I'm getting. Even WITH that bug attack, the one Royal Chronic went completely bonkers with trichs. The frostiest bud I've ever pulled from the garden and I am positive it was the change in nutes. I also learned that the Royal Chronic LOVES really strong nutes.

Cheers!

Here's a shot of my last Royal Chronic. I don't have the cut anymore, lost in the Bug Invasion, but I still got 50 seeds from my experiment.

Thanks for the quick response Hempy!!

I'm considering a Mega Garden for my veg & want something simple as I am a total noob to growing.

Any mods to it you would recommend?

Peace,

Joe

Nope, it's really the easiest ebb n flow system you can get.

The only tip I can give in using the MegaGarden would be to mark the level tube at each gallon. When I first got mine, I got out the Sharpie and poured 1 gallon at a time into system making the level tube after each gallon. This way I can quickly see how much needs to be added when topping off.

Cheers!

That Kill Bill was from seeds I got for crafting a banner for Rez, in fact it might be showing up top right now. (it's the black and purple one)

I had given some beans to the pup to grow out and got a cut back. That was from that cut. 'Pup picked a winner. Unfortunately I didn't get to keep it.

I'm always around, I just don't find chat useful anymore. Too many posers and hosers.

Cheers!

hey, Hempy I know no one has posted in this thread in a while, but hell I wanted to ask a few questions about waterfarms! So I have 5 home built ones from the kit, and I wanna grow 1-2 plants in each one, I don't have the rez attachment or anything, my questions are.

1. Will 2 plants consume the whole rez in a waterfarm in a day? assuming you didn't veg em longer than a week or two.

2. what kinda cycle do you use? for watering.

thanks man

My first single water farm grow had a hand full of bag seed grown in it. Had at least 8 plants in there at the same time. They all obviously didn't get huge, but I don't recall the bucket losing more than half it's water in a day. I suppose it depends on the humidity. You lose more water when the air is dry due to evaporation.

I'm not sure what you mean by watering cycle. Because I use a reservoir, I just keep it topped up. There's no recirculation to worry about. Just keep the unit topped up and watch your PPM and pH.

Cheers!

hey quick question would you go with a zune mp3 player or sansa san disc 16 gig??

what are your thoughts on a cheap mp3 player..im reallly not into the ipod thing...and playing video & mp3s would be awesome...the zune scares me as i cant even get video clips from my PC to my phone via a san disc 2 gig card... where can i go to learn about transfering media(video especially) through a removable card?

I've no need for portable music players. When I go out, I like to listen to world around me.

If I did want one, I would make sure it has no DRM. I'd want to be able to transfer files to and from my PC without need for additional software, Windows has file copying ability built in.

Aside from that, with killer quality headphones, it better kick some serious bass butt. Nothing I hate more about 'personal' music players is the lack of ability to feel the music as well as hear it.

DRM = Digital Rights Management i.e. You buy the song, but you don't own it and they will control how, where and when you can transfer that song.

Stay away from the iPod or the Zune if you want to retain the ability to do as you please with your songs.

^^thats exactly what i am tyring to avoid!!! screw VISTA!!!! ok gotcha so look for any mp3 player WITHOUT DRM!!!!!

so with a zune player if it ried to transfer the 25 gigs of hip hop/drum n bass i basically didnt buy...it simply wont transfer right??? it will give me errors?? that is totaly fucken WACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!

im happy buying the sandisc sansa..its not DRM!

to clarify my question :)

I mean I have heard that many people don't keep there water farms on all the time many of them run cycles like ebb and flow.

Do you know anything about this? do you use it? am I crazy?

btw, thats crazy you could fit 8 in there haha I always figured 1-2, Ill have to try that.

thanks for your time

Ig

Awesome garden Hempy, i really like your setup. I just ordered a General Hydroponics WaterFarm Controller Kit and there is 8 buckets. I'm allowed to have 15 plants legally so is there a way i can add on 3-6 buckets? I already have the 3 part gh nutrients, and planning on trying the lucas formula this time around, because my last grow was all leaves and no buds. I also ordered a continuous tds/ph monitor so that should help me a lot. So you still use 2x600w? i have a 600 w hps and 2x1000 watt mh.
