Tribe, the malawis are a little slow out of the gate but apparently i have some of the shorter phenotypes. they have responded well to a topping and the smaller one was ravaged when younger by caterpillars. i'm glad it's bounced back and its special, it has a very powerful aroma coming from the stem already! good luck on your selection, these are lovely plants. i am very sorry to hear for your loss with the zamaldelica. i wish to grow this strain eventually.

My Malawi's look a lot like yours skinny leaves on both waiting for sex....

the malawi are vegging nicely. the seedling that got mauled by caterpillars(Malawi 2) is very aromatic and i love how the leaves look.

this lady here is Malawi 1. everyone seems to love being in the pots though they show very light yellowing tips since a few weeks ago. next run I'm going to experiment with less nutrients to see if there's any difference. the growth has been explosive and the only times they've been unhappy is when the roots made it out of the bottom and when moving the pots around. Malawi 1 is showing such nice branching patterns that I'm tempted to keep some clippings when i prune off some of the lower growth next.

she has coloured stems and an aroma that i can't still pick up on. wonder what she'll look like after the stretch because she seriously has growth shoots going every direction.

here are some shots of Malawi 2

found a little spider flipped a leaf over to start making a nest. this is the seedling that bounced back after getting almost entirely eaten by a caterpillar when it was only 2-3 nodes old.

she's got some big leaves as well and a very powerful aroma even when she was really young. really excited to see what she produces. :)

Started these 12/12 from seed and now on day 48. Seem to have two phenos of Malawi, one tall and stretchy and slow flowering and the other more compact and quicker flowering.

Malawi @12 weeks

Malawi @12 weeks

These are 2 of the 3 Malawi's I have - one was cut @ 10 weeks.
The two pictured are very different phenos, one is very tall and has massive branching - very strong I might add. The other is shorter and not much weight but the calyx's are massive and has nice aromas.
Both were grown from seed from Ace and allowed to veg for around 5 weeks to form a nice root mass in my 5 gallon pots.
I only use JR Peters and Pro-Mix HP, light are 315 CMH with supplemental HPS as the temps dictate.
I have grown many sativa's and what makes these different (for me) is they like the heat and they have great vigor.
The earlier Malawi that was cut at 10 weeks was very compact, good yielding, and from the initial smoke is devastating - comes on easy, stays around in waves for 5 hours plus and is gentle on the backend. After a good cure it will be even more amazing!

yep. i popped two PM Fem seeds and got two very drastically different phenos. one is short and stout, the other is already taller than me (breaks 6ft after 3 months veg)

the pure malawis i can tell are going to be -massive- by the time the august stretch comes. if only i could have them in something bigger than 15-20gallon pots.

My malawi seems to be a slow vegger right now outdoors. its around 4 foot tall, but im hoping she will pick up steam as the summer rolls on... my panama and bangi are showing great vigor and growing nicely.
