A couple shots of Malawi pheno "F" aka frost freak. The first two with out flash and the lights on. The last one with flash.... lights off. These are offhand shots with a point and shoot, one of these days I should break out the tripod and get some steady shots.
A day shy of 9 weeks 12/12.

I planted 12 seeds and labeled them A-L.
3 were males, saved some pollen from all 3 mixed together, two were shorter 1 very tall, still have the clones.

I did pollinate a few with some black lime reserve pollen.

9 were female six were short and 3 tall .... the taller ones stayed greenest and are later maturing... shorter ones tended to be "early" and yellow up.

All same size 2 gal pots FFOF and same food. 1k MH and 1k HPS

Shorter ones tend to smell very fruity some more than others, hard to put a finger on what the tall ones smell like so far.

My faves at this point of the short ones are F,D,C,I,J,A Of the tall ones K,G,L.

Have clones of all vegging now but I need to cull most... probably keep 3 or 4 after testing...lol

I had to bend them all over so short is a relative term, the tall ones would have really reached for my ceiling and lights.

Thinking of chopping F and maybe a few others starting at 10 weeks unless convinced otherwise.

K,G and L are probably going to be 12-14 weekers.

Looking forward finally getting to try my first Malawi run and I still have 13 seeds left.

Stay safe
BM

Hey BM,
nice plants you have there!
if it smells fruity sweet and little lemon that it is the New Killer (shorter flower and smaller)
if it smells like old oil or petrol... old wood it is the old killer (need longer and taller)
I have them booth and i'm in week 10 from switch 12/12 and week 8 in flower...
The best is if you count from starting flowering... then you get the right timing for harvest 10-12 weeks flower time... don't harvest to early was the advice from everyone who grow a Malawi.
I really like the smell from the old killer Malawi... it is so special and i can't get enough every time i visit my grow room... i felt in love with Malawi...

Hey BM,

What a nice "little" plant you have there. :good:
I won't try to convince you to wait a little longer but that looks like a 11.5 weeker plant to me.
I might try to look for some similar genotype in my futur malawi session but since I bought standard seeds a while ago it s gonna be tricky. As dubi mentionned the new killer genotype is found only in femmed version. Anyway "standard M" looks good enought to me.

My plant is a 15 weeker. It comes down tomorrow, nothing has happened for the past week apart that fading took place nicely. Now it's time to go to chapter 2, the cut down and drying process.

It went like a breeze all along those 103 days. Easy strain to wotk with, heavy feeder (my pheno at least) You cannot see but she was able to starve in an 80ltr container.
Now i ll see in a few weeks/month how strong that stuff is.

Thank you Maxi,
big nice bud's you have!
Looks ready to go... did you read the cob cure method by Tangwena?
I give that a try because it looks promising also for long time storage...
well done

beautiful shots everyone in here!
Was wondering if yall minded sharing your base (soil/coco/promix/water) and what nutrients you had success with. I most likely grow them in organic pre amended soil and up-pot as they grow/need nutrients, with added teas and bat guano. Always like to see what other people are using and how its working for them tho, especially since i havent really grown many long flowering sativas before...

I've got 4 in coco, I'm just feeding half strength maxibloom so far. They haven't wanted or needed much else. We will see if they get hungrier the further they get into flower, but so far they acting very much like tropical sativa in the food department, but not in the vertical growth department. I was expecting a lot more stretch so I flowered them after only 6 weeks from seed, I am hoping the rest of my screen will fill out :/

Hey Getmo, I myself grow pure sativas with promix bx w/ myco and biofungicide, calcined DE, and a sprinkling of osmocote and biochar. Supplemental feedings with GH 3 part series around 450ppm. Things go well when I dont over do the osmocote . Im not at all an organic grower obviously, but check out my thread in my sig if you want to see how the opposite side does it. :tiphat:

Looking good everyone.

I grow in a neutral soilless mix with or without chemical and get great results.
I just use organic teas now though. Feed the plant as required and all is well.

MOK 8 has a mouth watering sweet fruity mango smell.

Another has a very nice fruity skunky smell.

No odor control needed and the smells are heaven when your nose is into it.
The fruity resin sticks to the nose and lingers a long time.

Grow On :canabis:

I have noticed a low odor as well, even when I am super cropping or pinching/pruning there is very little odor. I'm not complaining though, I am due for a filter change soon and squeezing this last Malawi grow out of it will save me some money.

Hello Tangwena

Been smoking the pineapple Zamal the past little while and it is quite nice.
Very nice strong effect and a bit different from Malawi. Really enjoy it though.
I find it to be the best of the Zamal and others think so too.
Keeps me up all night if smoked before bed. Malawi is similar in effect, but much more intense.

My seeds are done and have to check them out. Mixing the Malawi and Zamal I would do for sure.

Good Day :tiphat:
