No it is not ppk yet ,ppk units almost done .
All plants in Promix HP in 5 gallon plastic pots .
I do hand watering right now every 3-4 days
Also i set up ebb and flow 4x4 table with 24 plants/clones with same jacks ,just running little experiment on side :)

ok, i would just mix it at 5 spoons of each per drum but maybe make the spoons slightly rounded instead of perfectly level.

every third or fourth watering use plain water in the drain to waste.

this helps keep salt build up under control.

good luck!

Thanks for the assist, MM. I completely spaced the extra drain holes! That should definitely take care of Mr. Farmer's puddle problem.

I already have the extra drain holes in the buckets and they are located over the open area in the lid that the bucket sits on.

That is why I am puzzled...

Thank you
No other additives need for flowering ? I meant like jacks blossom booster ?

well, it's highly debate-able but you should at least try a run without any additives so that you can then compare the results with a reference point.

i personally don't use anything but i might at some point in the future.

This is good advice, and a good way to test all the "stuff" you hear about on the web. So much of it is just meant to sell you stuff, or is promoted by someone who hasn't carefully compared it.

One can be a skeptic and a minimalist in the pot/hydro growing world and do quite well.

agreed, I used to be a bottle buyer myself and as I started eliminating bottles my quality and yield actually began to increase (as well as the $ in my wallet), until I was down to base only-where I should have started to begin with. Since then I have found a couple products that do make a difference, but they are very few. Most ppkers have figured this out and other ways of simplifying things.

When I first started I used all sorts of bottles and additives. But then I switched to jacks and things got a lot simplier. But my guys noticed a difference in taste. So when I switched back to canna aqua and only a + b used with fox farm organics. Big bloom I believe but it's the only bottle that is organic. My guys like the quality better. But than again my guys r very very picky. Ppm is also at 600

Round Two Dilemma

Round Two Dilemma

Just finished cutting down the ladies and cleaning up the room for round two. I plan to transplant this evening but I've hit a slight snag. Due to sticking with my legal plant count, I can't keep mothers. I took clones off my ladies the day before they went in so these things have been in veg for a long time. My veg area wasn't set up so I had 12 plants in a 4x6 tent under 2-600 has horizontal lights. The plants are ridiculously tall...much taller than I want and much taller than I can tolerate with my room head-height.

Besides the obvious solution of getting my veg setup in check, which I will be doing next week, what can I do with these ladies? Should I just let them go wild and try to tie them down? Should I top them down a good foot or two? What does everyone recommend?

Mix your jacks an additional 360 ppm with your 130 ppm water. It will subtotal 490 ppm. Then add the calnit an additional 240 ppm to a grand total of 730 ppm. Do me a favor...don't look at your ph at all. Trust me. At this point, walk away.

Are you using a ppm and ph pen while you mix nutes? What size reservoir are you using to mix in (how much water)? Using volume to measure these nutes is easiest. For example, I mix two tablespoons of jacks into a 25 gallon tote of tap water. I mix it up and then add two tablespoons of calnit. That's it.

Hope that helps!

I just received my Jack's nutes and started replacing nutes in my systems following the direction above.

The first system I filled with 80ppm tap water and added Jacks/Calnit in equal volumes until I reached 680ppm. The pH landed at 6.32.

The second system I filled with a mix of tap & rain water @68ppm and added Jacks/Calnit to 670ppm. The pH landed at 5.62.

You said "don't look at your pH". I have been so "pH driven" for the last 5 years that I am having a tough time not reaching for the pH Up & pH Down....

Are these results normal? Am I overlooking anything?

Thanks again for all of the help.

Totally normal. Sit back, relax, smoke a bowl and watch the plant grow.

:) Thank you!! I needed a bit of reassurance. This runs so very contrary to what I am used to. I had quite the argument with myself this morning:

"You better adjust pH or you will hurt the girls!"..."No ask first"..."But the pH is too for off!"..."One day won't kill them. Ask first, then adjust if necessary."...."Ok.. But I am not happy about it.."

Thank you Av8or!

BTW: What does Av8or fly? I do love to fly but never moved beyond small GA aircraft. Would give my left something for a ride in an FA/18 or the like.

Hahahaha yeah brother, I've had that same argument with myself. But I yielded to D9's advice and voila, my plants starting growing a lot better than when I was chasing ph.

I flew Chinook helicopters (my avatar pic) and kingair 200's for a minute in the army. Only turbine time for me. I'm going to be building a light sport soon, though. Flying advanced airframes is great but I still prefer low and slow GA flying. A Murphy Rebel is what I'm thinking of.building. we will see! For now, I'll just grow more weed.

Editing to say that you can keep the fighter jet stuff. It bores me. Do an internet video or picture search for "chinook pinnacle landing." That's more what I enjoy. Precision and balls.

WOW!
That is some amazing piloting!

I looked at the Murphy some years ago at the EAA Fly In @ Arlington. Very kewl plane. Used to fly my Lazair up there. My idea of "low & slow": http://www.pilotmix.com/lazair

Thanks again for the direction on the nutes. The pH thing is like a conditioned response. "pH too high....Must add pH Down...Must add..." :)

U have some choices here. its best if u know ur plants n how they will stretch or react to topping. If they are already too tall, id play it safe n top them. I generally don't like topping, but u will regret it if u overgrow ur canopy by 2'.lol it makes for a horrible training job n very reduced yields.

I actually like to over veg my plants n use defoliating n super cropping to keep them from stretching too much. then topping would be my third option. as an example with a indica dominate plant, with a target goal of 4' finish height, id ideally flower them at about 3'. with something like my stretchy sour diesel, id flower at about 2.5' to get to 4'. and in both cases if they are growing healthy id have to super crop n deleaf to slow down stretch n keep them in the canopy.

on ur next run heres a couple ideas for the veg. u can wait to take ur clones till about 2 weeks into flower. that way u save 2 weeks veg n don't over veg too much. or what I like to do is reduce my veg light hours. but the trick is not to give too much dark period so they don't go into flower. I use a slight variation on the 12/1 schedule. so my veg light hours are 12 on, 5 off, 2 on, 5 off. this gives 14 hours of veg light per day n only 5 hours of straight dark period. Keeps them a bit more bushy, less stretchy, n flower seems to set in a bit quicker.

I have a hell of a time with timers but I'll try it, thanks MM.
