a ppk for a 6 plant limit

How far from bottom of 3.5 i need to drill hole for float ?

Just drill it above the water line. If you're using a float with an adjustable float then you just adjust it after you drilled your hole somewhere above the line.

If you're using a float valve that isn't adjustable then the easiest thing would be to go get an adjustable one lol

I have my 6 site system in my veg room running with 4 plants. I and will be moving the first plant into flower in a few days. Then I will fill the 3 empty spaces over the next 10 days. Then move another into flower and fill the empty space with a new baby. 10 days later I will move & replace. I will repeat every 10 days until the 8 sites in my flower room are filled. Eventually getting to the point that I am harvesting a plant, moving a plant from veg to replace it and moving another baby to the vacant spot in veg.

Lather, rinse, repeat....

One thing that I am lacking: I am currently running the same GH nutes that I ran in my RDWC. I need to get the Jacks Hydro nutes ordered.

I have been shopping for the Jacks and was put off by the $55 shipping on a $90 order from JR Peters.

Other sources are charging $170-$200 plus shipping for one each of the Jacks Pro & Jacks Calcium Nitrate.

Has anyone found a source that is reasonable and does not kill you on the shipping cost?

Thanks

FJ

Order directly from JR Peters, the manufacturer itself. Shipping cost on any package that weighs 50+ pounds isnt going to be cheap.

I had this dilemma, as well....but then I did some math and decided it was worth the shipping no matter what. For your system, a single order should easily last 18-24 months. You know how much weed you can grow in that time? A lot. That's how much. I only wish my local shop carried it. Of course, if they did and word got out how cheap and great this stuff is, they'd never sell another ounce of the pre-mixed stuff that seems to dominate the floor space in every grow shop. Just my two cents.

I too, thought the same thing about the shipping... but then remembered how much I was paying for the other shit I was buying. some to the tune of $100 QUART! av8tor is right.. don't sweat the shipping. I, ultimately, after a couple years, threw the GH and ??? cant even remember the brand names any more ??? Advanced?, etc.. in the trash.

I'm with mrrite.. go to JR peters: http://www.jrpeters.com/Products/Ja...ecialty-Crop-Formulas/5-12-26-Hydroponic.html

and

calcium: http://www.jrpeters.com/Products/Specialty-Nutrients/Buy-Specialty-Nutrients.html

if you do not have the money for shipping, buy a pound of each from them, shipping is much less and no tax.

if your not a big time grower you may find the 4lb tubs better. available from evilbay sellers. those fit in a small box easily. thats enough to make around 3 (or so) 1 gallon stock solution milk jugs. one gallon lasts me a bit more than 1 grow. So 2-3 grows easily from the 4lb tubs for a regular joe recirculating gardener.

oh, and I'll add that I've only ever used Maxibloom and not sure why anyone would chose anything over Jacks. not to be provocative but its just that easy with RO/DI. forget stressing over PH and trying to maintain it in a volume of water that is just too small to ever be chemically balanced correctly.

(same applies with fish tanks, smaller is actually harder to do well, best to have a bulk res to add enough volume to buffer things)

I'm not a big time grower and I got the 4 lbs tubs. Nothing wrong with them either way but unless I'm really strapped for cash when my 4 lbs tubs run out, I'll be getting the 25lbs bags. The big bags cost 90 together on the JR Peters site and shipping to me is only like 35 bucks. The small tubs are 54 together plus 15 shipping so 70 bucks total. At less than double the price I get over 6 times as much. Unless it takes someone a REALLY long time to use 8 lbs of each then it'll always be better to buy the bigger bags.

one way to hold the shipping costs down is to only buy the jack's part from jrpeters and buy your calcinit locally from a farm supply store.

i used yara liva brand calcinit for years and it was around 30 bucks for a 50 lb bag.

all greenhouse grade calcium nitrate is the same 15.5-0-0+19% ca.

greenhouse grade simply means water soluble and that it won't clog injectors.

just remember that one uses 38% more (in volume) of the jacks vs the calcium.

I first went with the 1 lb bags, then the 3lb bags then 25 lb bags years ago and although not finished with the first of the 25 lb bags, 25 lbs of each, sittin on the shelf.. it doesn't go bad.

yes, I grow smaller

I found a local supplier for calcium nitrate today. It is the Yara brand and sells for $27 per 50# bag.

Link: http://www.yara.us/agriculture/products/yaraliva/2475-yaraliva-calcinit-solution-grade-15-5-0-0/

Would you all recommend this as a good alternative to ordering cal-nit from JR Peters?

Anything I should be looking at as far as variation in application or dosage?

Thanks.

I used to use this brand also. As a direct replacement to Jr peters. So dosage and everything was the exact same for me.

How did I miss that??

Another question:

I wonder if any of you have seen an issue similar to what I am seeing in my flower room PPK?

The one in my veg room is fine but the one in the flower room is putting water in places it is not supposed to be...

Both systems are "retrofit" from my RDWC systems.

The veg buckets are sitting on top of 5 gallon buckets with netpot lids. The flower room has the buckets sitting on the flat lid (1/2" Starboard) over holes cut a similar size to the openings in the netpots. The lid sits on a 50 gallon stock tank.

I am finding solution puddled in the middle of the lid and around the buckets. I am having a Hell of a time figuring out where it is coming from. I have gone over the plumbing thoroughly and am convinced that it is not coming from the watering loop.

See the pics below and let me know what you think?

Edit: Yes, I am having heat issues in the space. My A/C died on Thursday and I am waiting for a replacement.
