Here's the deal... I'm not sure how many people have the same cut. I'm sure it's out there, but I know exactly who I gave it to, and that list is small. The guy who gave it to me in 95 hasn't had it in 15 years. When I gave it back to chemdog in 2006 it seems that he hadn't had it in a good while, and I heard that he didn't have it long after that...So how and when did the original cut get passed Around? I know it was stolen from my friends house (RIP) around 2000 in cottage grove, OR... I never forget anything. I'm sure some of the NY crew has it still. I was told "DON'T ever give this to ANYBODY" and I'm a man of my word. So that's what's up. I gave it to 5 people over all these years

Hey Good Ole Dog...I can answer that question...You gave Sierraskunk your '91 Chemdawg cut roundabout 2006...I think I was the ONLY cat Sierra gave your cut to...I gave it to ONE person, JoeBrand, the fellow who sold the original Chemdawg nugs to Mr. Chemdog. JoeBrand was running with some shady cats at the time, including a fellow named BageledJ...BJ gave it to everyone, more or less. Long story short...Everyone, on the internets, who has a legit '91 Chemdawg(SVA) got it indirectly via that chain of people...for better or worse.

I dropped off the internet for a few years back in 2008-2011...when I dropped off I believe your cut was still being held tight...but when I got back I ran across a few cats claiming to have the SVA CD'91...the funny thang, none of these guys would tell me where they got the cut...clearly there was some shadiness that had gone down and these cats didn't wanna get caught up in the drama (y'all know who ya are ;) ). After I reassured these guys that I wasn't gonna start shit...they spilled the trail of beans.

Even still...to this day...there are more fakes out there than legit...plenty of breeders breeding with faux cuts...is what it is.

Does it take longer than usual to get 91 Chem to root? I had a couple chances at 91 Chem and the cuts never rooted. Then the guy sent me a rooted clone. I vegged it took cuts and never got any of them to ever root. I gave up and just flowered out the mom and went on my way with other stuff. It was great weed for sure. It is the only one to this day that I never could get even one cut to root.

We used to smoke the kindest of Ganja when I was growing up in the 80's in VA. They were all from the Super Sativa Seed Club.
My favorites were:
Beatrice's Choice
Nigerian crosses
Afghan Crosse
Northern Lights #5
and of course the SuperSkunk

I loved the SSSC catalog. They used to rate the strains with how skilled neville could ride his bike after smoking a joint. They also had great copy writers that could really make you want a strain. There would be a sentence or two about how strong something was. They had a Nigerian strain and the description was deadly sounding. Like dizzy and passing out scary potent.

They had a strain called pluton and all it said was DEBILITATING. LOL!

Everybody always has somebody that they share a cut with. It really can't be helped. You yourself said you shared it with 5 people good ole dog. Just to sell it to somebody meaningless to you stinks. But sharing it with a brother or closest of friends can't be helped if it was somebody who had your back or somebody you loved as a brother or an actual lover at the time.

It has happened with many a cut.

the cuts need backing up, The hoading thing is all good but what ya gonna do when you lose it, get busted, robbed or just some shit just happens. I'm glad I passed my cuts around, and have needed them back,
I think they should be passed out to everyone, you still have to grow it well, which is what really sorts the men from the boys.

@npsecta, very nise, seems the'91 has the give a way rounded out club head cola.

I agree. It's time to go back to naming strains based on what it's in the genetics and quantified. People deserve to know what they are buying and consuming and even what it's used for.
exactly, whats its used for is my biggest concern, dont misunderstand im all in on knowing the genetics and keeping stuff "clean" .. but the biggest part really, as i see it, is people buying A but getting B because of labeling.

Passing it to everyone will be like throwing pearls to the swines bro.

Do u imagine Don Perignon passing his cepage to everyone so that they can grow and make Don Perignon in their respective garden?

Hell No !! And thanks god this is not happening. :)

We shouldn't worry bro, SkunkVA is a man who kept a clone for 20 years, seems like he knows what he is doing, and he seems to doing it well :)

It depends what Don Perignon's motivations were. If he cared less about business and more about the greater good of the wine drinking community then maybe he would have.

I understand the protected origins argument if you're talking about ensuring a certain standard of quality, but the analogy cannot be used when comparing legal grapes and non/semi legal plants. Should one feel they wish to drink DP, they can go purchase a bottle. Can't pop down to the shops and purchase a hoarded cut can we?

Peace

A little hoarding never hurt anything. When things get out they get stupid with the high volume of fakes and spin off cuts and half assed seed versions, just look at GSC or OG how many different types of those are there now?

At least with a tightly held cut like c91 if you have a good source can you pretty much count on it being legit. It looks like it has some real stand out features that would make it easy to identify.

Outside of the internet weed world probably not many have even heard of it so there can't be too many imposters floating around. By looks a lone it would be a hard one to fake.

I'd like to see good ole dog make some well thought out crosses, not too many c91 hybrids available.

Agreeed HIH. Maybe responsible sharing is what is required a la GG4.

I think it's the hype that spawns fakes, not the sharing itself.

Yes responsible sharing is good, altho I think after a while and enough hype things get out of hand and untraceable. I think it's almost to that point with the cut you mentioned, Im not going to name it because I don't want to derail another thread with that cut.

It starts off with best intentions in mind but if not kept in check it gets crazy then people hop on the bandwagon just to capitalize on the name and somebody else's hard work.

I think Good ole dog did a good job with his cut, it's pretty easy to determine which breeders are using the real thing, so it makes it easy for people that want to get a hold of crosses.

U can purchase the buds, just as u can get a bottle, if u have the links or if u know the clubs, for those who are in legal or medical state for instance. Same with certain bottles of DP, u don't get them just like that in shops! They are wanted bottles and some wait up to ten+ years just to get one.

Same with the Elite clone. If u do u work, one day it will reach you. If elite cut is all over the place then its not elite anymore, but beated out.

The fact that they are rare its what make their value and the value of their flowers.

A la GG#4? Excusez-moi but I just read that a club is selling 12 clones of gg#4 for 2000 usd !!! Pretty fucked up if u ask me. I prefere the cut to be hoarded a little, than the cut end-up in the wrong hands.

I kind of agree and disagree, I too believe that when you do good work good things will come to you.
but,
Most elite cuts have only become elite because lots of people grew them and rated them, then passed them to their own close friends/circle.
if they had been greedy and kept it to themselves none of us would of got to try it.

The one thing I don't agree with, is other's making money off of your shit especially when they obtain the clone by saying one thing then just straight hoar it out, straight bad karma.

Take the GG#4 clone for instance, when it was passed friend to friend everything was cool, soon as they sold a few all hell brakes loose, mainly down to the HTCC win.

I think you are right about the hype causing the problem's. As before High Times everyone only passed the clone to close friends now there is a chance of making some fast money and boom out go the morals.

That's what I meant by responsible sharing.

2 grand trays of cuts aren't the result of it being shared in the first place, but a result of the hype from a major cup win.

Peace
