500 Gallon Raised Beds in the Foothills 2015

At some point you are going to want to gusset the corners of those wooden frames. The constant wet/dry process over a year or two will wiggle those nails out, or split the wood around the screws.

Gusset is when you use another piece of wood (3/8" sheeting in this picture) to cover the corners, and tie the individual pieces of wood together. Also helps to hold in the fasteners (nails, staples, screws).

Amazing job this year, makes me want to go back to full season plants again.

Peace

thanks for the advice on the beds. some of the corners had come loose and had to be rescrewed in the beginning of the season. so you're basically nailing another piece of wood over the corners to keep em in place right ?

last few days we have been thinning out the inner suckers and it was overdue because i found pm on some of the lower inner leaves. we thinned them out and plucked off any leaves with pm. i mixed up a full strength batch on GreenCure and sprayed them all. so the lesson learned is clean up those inners before issues arise..
and no signs of pm when i checked today :dance013:

Thanks for the pics..gorgeous...I'll be thinning today.

Look at the trunks on those. They're going to flower well. Bet the trees helped keep the heat down. Thanks for sharing!

Looking really good there Stank! I enjoy seeing all the pics on your instagram feed too. Hatch, I've never used actinovate but have Greencure on hand for if PM shows up. I had a round last summer that got eaten up with it that I was fighting til the finish. The Greencure definitely works and gets rid of visible PM pretty much instantly and it doesn't show up for another week or so. With PM being systemic I feel like Greencure is merely a bandaid and not treating the cause of the problem itself. The main thing is to discover what's causing it and address that just like Stank here did with removing all the lowers and inner sucker branches for better airflow. My case was probably not having enough airflow, growing in a cool humid crawlspace in the summer, and skimping on beneficials and amendments for that cycle. I won't cut corners like that again, lesson learned. Apologies for preaching to the choir regarding much of this info Hatch as I know you know your stuff, I just wanted to chime in with my experiences. Same to you Stank, didn't want to steal your thunder. Keep up the good work and regular updates, I got to get my Bhodi tree fix!

yeah its a constant battle to stay ahead of pests and its so much easier to spray and inspect them now since they dont have clusterfuck branches all over down there lol

you are correct.. more airflow is def the key to prevention of pm

Those plants are looking awesome. Where do you get such high cages? Also how many hours of direct sunglight are getting now? What are your plant spacing from center of each pot?

i was getting my remesh at home depot before they did a recall last week. the plants are getting at most 9 hours of direct light. there is 12ft spacing from center of each pot.

Damn why the fuck would they recall remesh? I got 6.5' trellis netting , imo nets are easier/better that cages for the second third layers of support

What are the inner cages made from? Cuts of remesh? I'm trying to figure out how to roll and build them for next year. #10 or #6?

Stank, things are looking great for you. The Ancient is looking like is it filling out a bit, very tall for sure. That love triangle is a looker for sure.

My Ancient is just over 7 feet, looks a bit lanky but big, fat leaves and a very fat stalk all the way up the apical meristem. Twice as thick as the PPG13HP.

Your PPG13HP is mental! On the stem rub, is it sweet or sour skunky rubber?
