walking the dog in a t shirt and zero chill-bumps...:woohoo: so far, just like last winter- the cold was mostly over by Christmas, although it ran a week or so longer this year.

in these temps I don't travel @ night and I stay on main highways only, no shortcuts or secondary roads, that & I have roadside assistance in my auto insurance policy, @ my age I minimize my risks.......

-15 f at the Fairbanks Airport earlier this morning. At that time it was -7 f on my porch. Getting back some of my expensive inversion.

Supposed to reach a high of -3 to +3 f in the lower-lying areas, and in the +teens on the hills today.

Tomorrow may see highs of low +teens, following lows tonight that are supposed to be mildly warmer than last night.

Then Sunday is currently expected to be up to the lower +20s for most areas, and perhaps lower +30's on the hills. Followed by a week of some where near +10 for highs most of the next week in the lower areas; maybe a touch warmer.

A week for activity, getting machines fixed up, running any remaining fuel needs, maybe lighting the smoker to smoke some pork back ribs en masse.

-1F w/no wind making it feel like an actual 1 below zero.......

me & my dog Suzi (a mini doxie) just came in from a short walk, I hadda load her in the hopper on my walker (I'm half crippled ya know) on the way back 'cause her tiny feet couldn't take it any more, but she just hadda explore the length of the plowed drive :)

0 degrees f. on the front porch this morning at about 7:30. Currently 'bout 11 minutes past noon, and +5 degrees f. on the porch. Supposed to get above that by maybe 10 degrees in my 'hood today.

Ran bulk snowmobile fuel last night for my youngest son.

Today's chores include the shop that's over-due for any number of efforts, and then break down and thoroughly clean the core and pre-filters in the heat recovery ventilator early in the week, while everyone else is gone to work or school. Less moisture to build up in the air when the house is more empty

Still need to make a trip out into the bush via snowmobile, if the moderate and mild weather lasts, and a trip to Los Anchorage for stocking up on wholesale warehouse items no longer available locally.

Then finalize readying machines for a trip to the mountains for our ice fishing and extended meditation adventures, coming in mid-later March this year, considering the mild cold.

Is currently 20F here. Got up to 51 yesterday and 46 the day before. As a result the garage flooded a fair amount from the water with no where to go from snow/ice banks.

Going to be -2 tonight and -7 tomorrow night. I think most of the real cold is behind us.

Curious what the warm temps and rain did to the ice on the lakes.

Same down here. Temps rose, tons of melting and now its freezing again. Probably some dangerous roads out there tonight.

From mid December the lake here was frozen solid and everyone was ice fishing, driving trucks and 4 wheelers. Drove by today and it was just a bunch thin chunks of ice.

-8F
-18F
-23F
-12F....... low temp forecasts thru Tuesday, we're still making ice.

Ice out (that's no ice at all) on our lakes usually occurs mid April, but I've seen ice on the lakes during fishing opener which is mid May.

even thought tonight's low was supposed to be -8F, I've got 11 below right now, inside it's a balmy 75F, I likes it toasty :)

Here's what happens in Minnesota if you let your shitter freeze.

+19 f. on the porch right now, with a North wind, and likely to get a bit warmer yet, later today. Currently 3:20 A.M. Alaska time.

A North wind and this warmth is odd. A South wind and warm air would be much more typical.

Need to trailer up two snow machines later today, to get them to town.
