I don't understand how a village can ban a plant/flower/product that currently is legal by law?
Do you mind sharing the names of the villages you mention?
Thai residents need a license to grow, but the flower itself is not illegal unless found on a person less than 20yo - or pregnant women.
It was Buriram and a few other Isaan provinces that tolerated growing early, but I don't know the names of villages that still don't allow it. It was something I heard anecdotal, most likely in the south.

How do Soi Cowboy and Nana Plaza exist when such activity is illegal? Earlier this year it was found that a noodle soup kitchen was a front for a casino and nightclub. Thousands of Chinese knew of the place, but somehow the police didn't? But luckily they eventually found it and seized the 30 luxury cars in the garage...

- After reading up on this thread - seems like there is much to take into consideration before deciding on going ahead with a 4/20 cup in Thailand - not least the potential outcome of this coming election - and how it might effect the legality of staging such an event here in Thailand - I wouldn't want to do it - if it risked seeing the inside of a jail cell again - and as for putting a 4/20 on in the USA - that might be difficult with my record - although the feds did finally drop the charges againt me for international seed dealing back in 2018 - after they failed to extradite me from the UK - after having me detained in the Philippines for 2 and a half years - in the Camp Bagong Diwa detention jail in Manila -
Important to look in the rear view mirror as we go forward, to see how things once were. We are like minded ppl here, so it's easy to agree, but need to keep things in perspective. In many countries the locals are very sensitive about foreigners making money, Thailand is no exception.

Yes - I agree - and that was partly the idea for putting up this thread - to feel out the differing opinions around potentially staging such an event in Thailand - since quite a few of our members live here and visit quite regularly -

Looks real nice there. Can't say I'm not a little jealous. I can only automate for a week though, so hopefully an EU destination can be found. Somewhere accessible, that people might want to visit for other reasons.
Try Alicante Spain .
Has this great social club with sea view called Oasis.
Great place great people, great food cheap and if you visit off season is even better .

Good part of Spain, with it's own airport. They don't list destinations though. They give 10 ways of getting there, but non are flying. My reservation probably needs the complaints department :)

I imagine Spain will come out as the top choice. However, I'm from the UK, and they, like France, have had to see our battle ships since brexit.

Portugal, with a night crossing to morroco by inflatable? lol

Beach life - at the moment - the ladies are in the spa - and I'm at the bar - right on the beach sand - looking at a calm sea - here at the Pimalai Resort on Koh Lanta - 4 inch breakers - lol - have to have a Bier Singh - *Singha beer' - to quench the thirst - after a spliff of 'Oreoz' from the Green Merchant coffee shop in Bangkok - opposite the front entrance of The Shangrila Hotel' - down by the Chaopraya River -

The beach is not crowded at all - ya - a few western tourists - but mostly clean sandy beach - can see maybe 10 foreigners from my view - at the end of the bar - at 3.30pm - hot afternoon - people are basking in the aircon - maybe? - taking a siesta -

Went to breakfast this morning - it's just a short 200 meter walk away - and while we were gone - the local monkeys (grey macaques) decided to break into one of the villas - a monkey home invasion of sorts - and trashed the place kinda - they went for the dragon fruit and tangerines in the fruit bowl - then got into the kitchen and chewed thru the bag that held packets of powdered multi-vitamins - and a bag of salted cashew nuts - got that all over the place - luckily the morning cleaning crew showed up and shooo'ed them away - before they had time to totally wreck the place - then tidied/cleaned up the mess - someone forgot to close the main sliding doors - and only closed the flimsy sliding screen doors - which the monkeys ripped thru - with ease - to gain access - oh what a palava! -

Similar situation happens around here. Only they take you with the trash :)

What did you have? I'm starving. Do they have proper bacon over there. You know your in paradise holiday hotel when every global delicacy (including pop tarts) is there on an all you can eat buffet. Except decent bacon.
