Thanks guys, guess more are interested in tracking database than I thought. Thought I was the only geek nut.

Well if there's interest, I used to program Access databases that interfaced with the real world and displayed data in forms like Velvet. Difference is you would have to have M$ Access to open the database. I may tinker this weekend and post something up just fer fun. I think Velvet is on the right track but I think they come up short on things like adding strains, and the English version blacks out the harvest info portion. Wet & dry weight, bag appeal and smoke reports should also be represented.

Thanks Toke, that's what i was thinking also. Adding new strains to the data base and tracking. I was wanting something i could track all my crossing and breeding project to keep all info in one place and easy to access. I've got M$ Access and would love to give your work a whirl. Shit, i might have to dig out my college text book and write something up also. I did a few project while in college and they where along these lines. Let us know what you come up with.

Thanks fer the kinds words, bro - if you don't think you're doing good now, take my word for it - you will. Once you get stuff set up so it's easy for you to work with and get shit dialed in all you need are the genetics. Right now I'm in a tweaking stage and struggling with yeild. Everything was repotted into 4 gal pots and that slowed things down a lot, but they will take off and join in the show.

Hilljack, thanks fer the kind words, but it's all just really in the genetics - I just care for them. I'll get the hang of this old cam soon.

BG - this is the database I use. The first entry field "Strain" if a selectable list of all strains listed in the Velvet app and cross referenced with the old OG Strainguide that I managed to archive to an old drive. I matched and cross referenced the old guide to two online currently, one is Dutch and the other is from DrugsForum.com because I liked the added editable smoke reports.

I'm still plugging away with the strain guide table that populates that Strain field, man ther are a lot of strains.

I'm expanding on the Flower/Harvest section with any smoke reports I can paste in. I'd also like to add a Speedbump section for weird problems or strain dependant flukes. Anyway, here's a shot of my M$ Access database:

Velvet is online at http://www.velvet.ht.st/ - click on download, it's freeware. It gets your interest up but you begin to notice what it's lacking, that's why I created my Strain Tracker database in M$ Access and constantly tweaking and modifying my tables and queries.

I can also import real-time real-world sensings from various interfaces, opening the possibility of real-time remote monitoring of a grow environment. It's even possible to embed webcam objects. Any Access users can be added to my buddy list to be updated with screen shots to build their own, or just watch the thread as I add and update them.

My spreadsheet Perpetual Planner guides and monitors the current grow by telling me when pots were put into a stage, how much time they have left in that stage, which pots get proper organic nutes (I'm using 4-stage guano kits of Mexican guano, Peruvian Seabird guano, Jamaican guano and Indonesian guano), and the location of each pot. The Strain Tracker archives it all for me for future reference and comparison checks are just a mouse click between strains and grow conditions.

Once I complete the Strain Tracker it will have every strain from two Strainguides built into it, and the information of those strains such as grow reports and smoke reports as wells as breeder specs and pedigree. I'm running a DWC shelf this grow and will start to incorporate and tweak for hydro also. Hell, might even work on incorporating the old OG Growfaqs info into it, as often as I have to keep checking back on it.

Great to see some interest in the same things!

This month's update I guess. We harvested Chemdawg the first week, TW the second, DW the 3rd, and SAGE the 4th.

Now waiting on Swt#3, Chemdawg, Deepwreck, and just rotated ECSD, Skush, DSD, SSSDH, AK47, Schrom and Trainwreck into flower.

Next cloner batch is all ECSD and Trainwreck for March's run. Next up are in veg:

The military once gave me enough thorazine to tranquilize an elephant and still needed 6 MPs to get me down.

Those of us with serious pain have a high threshold, instead of buzzin' and cruisin for a day we're lucky to just make it bearable. Me and the missus toke at night to ease the effects of fast approaching old age, never during work hours, but sometimes it does get a little hard to function on our days off.

Hey buzzed day, I hear ya, all with a little help from our friends.

Hey Core, how ya doin. Yeah, the Velvet isn't very user friendly or intuitive and lacks a lot of the needed information to compare strains. The Access database is working out nice, just a simple table using a form to enter and edit data. Next will be a base query to supply sorted and formatted data to a report form. I've got the strainbase info on my strains into a table, need to link it and redesign the data entry page. I'll post screenshots of the design layout and table relationships so others can throw one together if they want. Great for tracking strain nuances like those that thrive on Indo guano and those that would rather flower out with Jamaican. I'm thinkin PH tracking will come in handy for DWC, we'll see after I get that added to the main table.
