Tthat was my first grow when I using cfl's add to the hps, its good method because those cfl's are blue spectrum, the day light, so summary light in my box is similar to natural light..

my yield isnt perfectly dry yet, dont forget about it :abduct:

that's cool. as i said, the bulb tends towards blue but also contains most other parts of the spectrum, supposedly imitating daylight.
let's see how i can do in half the space of what you got!

ah, just got a call that it'll take another 3 days until i get my light...what a long journey!

Hello fellow 150ers

Haven't posted in a while and wanted to add my 2 cents.

These are the seedlings that couldn't fit in the mother section so I'm going to try them at 12/12 and see what I get. One girl at least, I hope.

Q ..nice clean cab. I too use added cfl to get a fuller spectrum. I'll be lurking your next grow fer shure

Suga and Heady. a closer look shows the seed is trying to move but it hasn't moved since yesterday. if it ever pops I will most definatly label it "OB1 The Force" or "OB1 The Hard Way" the other two will be OB1 and OB1.2 of course.

Peace

Hello everyone!

I thought that I would share a few pics of what's going on inside my TV stand.

150w TV stand.

BMR mother/clone (left) and Blockhead clones rooting (right).

Two BMR and Blockhead @ day 21. (Blockhead in the center).

BRNEYDBVR that tv stand is beautiful man! say anyone i was wondering especially seeing brneys' setup could you do a perpetual harvest in something like that and what would be an ok harvest average with 150wts.?

Chronic- Yeah... those fans seem to be very popular with the cab growers. I picked mine up for $1 each.

gittinright- Thanks...It seems to work pretty well. I havent tried a perpetual harvest, but I guess you could do it.
As far as harvest averages.....Depends on a lot of things. Some folks due fairly well because they know the strain well. (i.e. they've grown it before and know how it feeds..etc.) Tons of variables to consider...

Hopefully someone will give you a better answer than that!! LOL!!

LOL how dumb can one be? just got my 150w hps and started to "update" my cab. can you imagine that i realized that i had been running on a 100w hps for all the time? thought i was running a 70w...well, now i come to remember that when i got the light some 2 yrs ago i decided that 70w was way too small. yet, the lumen still roughly double: from 8500 to 14500 now...well, i'm off to do some construction work...cya later!

I'm thinking of going all cfl's to get a better spectrum and keep the temps down.
I had a 400watter and the temps in the summer was a beast to maintain so i'm economizin to somethin smaller, it's still a vision no stone chiseled yet.

gittenright a 150 cab can produce 1.5 oz or more per plant scroging in a perpetual setup with one plant harvesting per month. and an hps with the ballast outside the grow area will be cooler than an equivalent amount of cfls. I've run both 400 and 150 hps and there's a huge difference in heat.

I agree 100% with Suga on so many levels!!! My 430w even with an oversized 6" Vortex has radiant heat that could be a problem if I don't watch ambient room temps. I move alot of air with that vortex and the glass under the lamp is only slightly warm to the touch but when I move my hand 2"-4" under the glass I could almost burn my hand. Move it 6" away and everything is fine. I'm interested to see what the 400 does in the summer months but I have no fear whatsoever about my 150 tent. it barely goes a degree above ambient temps.

Peace to all the 150 watters

hey guys. my blueberry plants sprouted! hehehe. it took em like 3 days and they still werent out of the dit so i was like wtf. so i scraped away some dirt and i guess when i watered em it pushed the seeds down more. they were like 2 inches below the soil. so now they are out of teh dirt and soaking up the light of the cfl's after about 2 weeks ill turn the 150w hps on them. has anyone here grown feminized blueberry from dutch passion? also has anyone grown cotton candy/nycd/sage from hemp depot? if so can u post a few pics pla? lol thanks

Today is the first night for my 13 days old plants. I transplanted them to bigger pots and I did FIM 5 of them. When they will show their sex I will select 2 female plants (I hope) and will transplant them to 5 galon pots and do LST.
Please correct me if I do something wrong.

EDIT: Yes, they was 13 days with light 24 h a day.
Before transplanting and fim (11 days old):

I was looking for a replacement bulb, just to have one on hand in case my bulb burns out. Home Depot has 150 HPS bulbs for medium bases and the bulb seemed really tiny. I've seen the medium bases too and they seem smaller than the one in my security light.

What do you call this base? Where do you find replacement bulbs for it?

Hey Red... I'm not exactly sure of what size exactly you are looking for but...if you have a light bulb supplier anywhere near you that would be your best bet. I'm talking a place that only sells light bulbs. They won't even look at you twice if you call and ask for a specific bulb. They might ask what it's for but don't think it's a MJ question...what they mean is, what kind of product is the light bulb going in. Simply tell them it's for the old security light hanging on the back of your garage or something. chuckle and say I wondered how long that bulb was going to last. You'll find they have the best price anyway even if you have to order it special if they don't have anything in stock. Interesting part is if you get him on the phone you may find you have a few choices of lamps to choose from. Tell him you have a big back yard so what is the brightest lamp you could get. Act clueless when he talks lumens and grateful when he tells you what one to buy....lol. if you don't have one of those stores around check back in and I'll have a few more ideas.

Take care my friend and good luck

red_greenery - you must have a mogul based HPS. The 150 is available both with mogul based and medium bases. Higher wattages are all mogul bases. I'm suprised home depot didn't have both for the 150 as I seem to remember seeing both. If you have trouble finding the mogul one you could just get a medium based socket and switch. There's no difference between the two as far as ballast requirements - it's just the medium base is smaller (that and I believe the mogul may put out just a tad more lumens.)

Thanks Bonsai and Suga, I thought this was the Mogul. That's worth knowing that I can put a use a medium base and bulb if I can't find the Mogul bulb.

I'll keep looking for a replacement bulb. The medium bulb is $27 bucks too. I hope the mogul base isn't much more expensive.

Hey I got a question. Has anyone run 2 x 70W bulbs off a single 150W ballast?

Bad idea and it won't work. By connecting two 70's in parallel you effectively cut the resistance presented to the ballast in half. As a result, there won't be enough current to strike the arc across the gas gap in the HID tube. Additionally, the igniter will not be able to restrict the demanded current and likely burn up.

Of course this is only my opinion as a Full-Time Grower and Part Time Electrical Engineer. So, to paraphrase Dirty Harry, if you feel lucky, go for it. (only kidding - don't try it) Safety above all.
