dolomite lime or garden lime "sweetens" the soil by stabilizing PH and adding calcium and magnesium - both secondary nutrients that cannabis loves.

here's a link with various soil mixes - many to chose from and most include dolomite lime.

Something simple like

Promix
Perlite
wormcastings
bone and blood meal
dolomite lime

in ratios you can find in the thread

http://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=10001

again this can be found in the ICMAG OFFICIAL ~DIY~ LINK-O-RAMA

I use a 3 part mix from walmart:

Perlite, Black Gold Organic Soil, and Black Gold Wormacsitngs.

I have yet to add dolomote lime to my mix although I think the OB1's might me needing the extra Cal and Mg. But isnt PBP supposed to provide a substantial amount?
I know PBP has a PH stabilizng formula....Anyway, the leaves on Stativa pheno #2 are the first to yellow! But its also a Purple/yellow which seems like a MG def. While its the furthest behind in yeild, it also looks to be the first one ripening. I cant believe that it supposed to finish first, so I am led to believe that I got really lucky never adding Dolomite lime to my potting media and sustained no problems:
But the OB1's might not like the same potting media as the Nuclear Cloud. They might want a more stable PH and more Mg. The leaves are purple/yellowing on Pheno #2. However, they are nearing the end, and most plants like to start "leaf drop" around this time. That is the dying and falling of fan leaves...

What do you think Suga? Given they are about day 55 or close to...
Ill take and post pictures tonight after "lights on".

Bonsaigower,
you asked where have I been...
College! After many years I am going back...One course I am taking is a horticulture lab class. So while I may be away from The Club, I am reading my botany books, and studying the details about plant life.

You know... I think I want to be a horticulturist professionally. Nothing about professional ganja growing, but as a real job. I really love plants, and if it wasnt for my love of Ganja, I would have never found enjoyment in gardening and science.

Earlier I was thinking about starting a thread/daily log of what I have learned in school. There is some interesting shit that I am learning, and applying to my ganja growing! Fucking rocks :sasmokin:
But school is so demanding that I dont have the time to dedicate to such a thread... Ill just share what I learn here and there, along the way, as ICMAG progresses into the future of Ganja cultivation.

Peace,
Bom Bulenath!

Hey guys,

I bit the bullet today and went into our local head/hydro shop. I was looking for GH FloraNova Bloom and picked up the Advanced Nutrients Sensi Bloom A&B. This is what the med patients are growing with. I didn't pick up any of the other bloom enhancers that go with this product line.

Here's my girls at day 27 or week 4. There's a dolomite lime, blood and bone meal in the soil and I've been using general purpose nutes all along.

What strength should I start with? Are AN nutes extra strong or anything?

hi, 150ers ! just thought i should check in with some pics of the current grow ...

bule ... good on you for going back to college . i have gardened on a very small (and crude) scale for a few years now, but since starting my ganja hobby i have enjoyed ALL aspects of gardening much more .

red ... the plants look good . dont know anything about AN products though.

some pics ...

just playin around with the "crop" feature for the first time ...

group shot ... both nigerian nightmare, the one on the left was a cutting , the bushy one was used for cloning practice and it was also bonzai'd ...

at the time of these pics they would have been under 12/12 for 2-3 weeks approx.
the grow is going well . :yummy:

Red - Those ladies look mighty fine to me. They seem very happy with the way they have been treated so far. That being said, I wouldn't be in any rush to make major changes to their diet. Whatever you do decide to do, go slowly.

Bule - Old friend and kindred spirit, I'm so glad you've found a rewarding path to follow. I know how tough it can be. I dropped out of college after one year, and didn't go back till after I was married with children. By the time I finished my Masters, I was well into my 30's. Although, even that seems very young now. HANG IN THERE! You'll be glad you did.

Green - Isn't it nice of them to always think of us growers by placing a "Crop" option in their software? Although, it kind of reminds me of the "Brightness" control on my TV. I keep turning it up, but most of the shows and people I watch on it are still dumb as shit!

rasta - All of the years I spent growing up, I always thought my Mom said some pretty dumb things. Of course, I never realized she was getting me ready for growing as she so often said "Everything in moderation". Its really one of the best pieces of advice I can give to any new grower.

Well, here it is, all done and ready to go..... this is my version of a cross between an EZ-Clone and a High-Pressure Aeroponic Growing System. Each of the sites are a full 3 inches across, and a couple of inches apart. The idea here is to keep a supply of clones going that are fully rooted and have alternating nodes. They will go from here directly into my cabinet, which will be kept full time on 12/12. This should greatly help with my effort to maintain a perpetual harvest.

Comments, thoughts, suggestions?

Thanks Pipedream. I'm trying my best to keep these girls on track.

The nutes have been off just a bit throughout this grow. I tried using fish ferts for the first time and miss read a N deficiency for high pH. The plants were growing great after the flip to 12/12 but I had them too far away from the light. When I moved them up, the growth was phenomenal and sucked the N and P down. I got it back with a change to 20-20-20 gp nutes. They look really good right now so it's time to mess them up by changing to a better nute. I should have bought this stuff before flowering but you know how it goes.

Your cloner looks really great. I didn't recognize it as an Aeroponics design. Really tricky!!!

hey pipedream - a friend of mine on another site told me
Tell Pipedream that the best container to use for his homemade aero-cloner is a fortyeight quart ice chest.
The top lid seals and is completely water proof. The poly the chest is made from will last forever and it is easy to drill the one inch holes for the cuttings in the top of the lid. I wish someone would have suggested it to me before I tried all of those sterilite containers that you will never get to seal right. Trust me on this one and he will save himself a lot of time and wet messes.

I'm sorry I didn't post that earlier for you.

Bulénath - the burmese loves the mg - I always give it 150ppm of epsom salts. The sativa #2 looks to be very burmese dominant. However it didn't look like it was missing anything in the picture at day 45. There is some purple in the burmese and my one ob1 sativa did turn all leaves dark purple at the end too. Since they are at day 55 I would just let them go - don't mess with success - maybe a little extra dolomite next time -

Here's my ICE at 76 days of flower - end of the day tomorrow in the morning before lights go on I am going to chop her down and hang her up - checked the scope and all cloudy - a few amber -

I put the seed into paper towel some 87 days ago - 10 days veg including germ time and then into 12/12 and here we are.... under 90 days from seed to bud.

Hey everyone, I havent been posting much but Ive read through it all. Looks great everyone and thanks for all the info. You all help so many people that you dont even know about.
My Cab is almost 100% running now. I was waiting to get some clones from a friend and had a few seeds from my last hermy plant(long story) so decided to start them, see what happens til everyhting is 100% running. One of the main reasons I moved out from my parents was to take care of some plants and learn as much as I can. Ive realised I can save so much money living back with them that I'm prbly moving back in 2 months or so. I may or may not have a PC case going then, yet to decide. Hopefully a friend will be moving in with my current roommate into my room and wont mind me keeping my cab there and Ill still be coming by often.
Anyways, Im striving for a Mother/1clone system with a 4X perpetual harvest, I guess thats on hold until I find a good clone or maybe buy some seeds. Ive been really busy lately with various things and havent had much time.
I just put my largest plant into the flowering room and have 2 small ones going that arent looking very promising. Ive slowly introduced some fish emulsion 5-10-5 I believe to the flowering plant, I think my soil was too hot when they were seedlings, thats why the younger ones have a poor start and lost leaves. As I said I probably wont even keep either of those Im just trying to learn from them, why not? Anything you think my flowering plant needs in terms of nutes that would help the most right now?

Heres some pictures I took today.
BTW anyone know why the HPS frequency messes with my camera phone so bad? The split cab pictures is kinda trippy...

My 19 days old plants, 6 days 12/12.
I still don't know sex of any plant

Anyone knows what is going wrong with that yellow one? It has the best smell from all the plants and it is probably the most sativish pheno I have.

Bulenath...that's such awsome news about school. Good to hear from ya and see what's on the go. I too would love to do horticulture school and am considering it still. Good for you Bro!

Sugar..I'll keep that in mind when I grow out the Burmese strains as well. (Cal/Mag seems to be an issue around my garden anyways...lol)

This thread is a great addition to the forum. A lot of people don't have the space or personal smoke requirement to grow big and this thread helps helps them figure out how to go about getting the herbs they need without dedicating a whole room to them.

This thread rocks

grunwald - I'd check MyNameStitch's guide to figure out what's the issue for sure, but I am betting it is either genetic (some genes show variagation) or it is a calcium deficiency.

HerbalHitman - thanks for the kind words and stopping bye

rasta - your babies seem to be coming along alright - did you get the yellowing leaves straightened out? I assume that's all bag seed, right?

JasonK - looking good - the HPS does that even to my cannon camera. I just turn it off for picture time and use some CFL's to light things - that and most of my full plant pictures are taken when the plants are outside of the cabinet.

Hey all - Does anyone out there use an "electric seed starter" either the mat type, small incandescant bulb style, or other? If so, give me an idea of how well it works and about what they run money wise. Also, will it work in a fairly cool environment?

I'm ready to pop some beans, but the temps, where I am, are really too cold. Even in my home the sig-oth never puts the thermostat above 68. And down in the basement where they'll be starting off its even cooler. I picked up a birdbath defroster at a rummage sale for 50 cents, and If all else fails I put a light-dimmer on it and try to use it under my starter tray.

Of course, if you have other methods that have worked well for you in the past, I'd love to hear them too.

Thanks as always, Pipedream

hey pipedream I have used the mats made for putting under a tray of seedlings and they will run $30+ .... worked ok but ended up drying out to quick.

My seed germ method now is as follows;
I put seeds in paper towel wetted with distilled or RO water plus 1 drop bleach as a antifungal - then I put it in a bag which I blow air into then on top of the router.
when seeds have popped I place into rw cubes soaked in above ph balanced mix.
I gingerly place seeds into cubes and put into my cheapo wick cloner - and use my veg cab for seedlings it is lit by cfl and I have a small computer fan for ventilation. the pc fan runs an adapter that has a selectable voltage - by turning it down I can get the temps up to where I want (10 degrees above 65 ambient).
