bluntman - Since your seeds will only produce female plants, there is basically only one way to produce a seeded crop that will supply the same. Ideally, its done with two or more females, but it can be done with a single plant as well. You'll need to force one of your plants to turn hermie, and thereby produce male flowers. Since the plant was 100% female to start with, it will only be able to produce female genetically coded pollen. As a result, if it pollinates itself or another true female, all resulting seeds will be female. It best to do it with two or more plants as it keeps the gene pool varied and produces a healthier result. There are several ways to stress them to turn, the two most common and easiest are light poisoning and treating with aspirin.

Folks - Well, the weather will soon be breaking and it will be time for me to crank up my system to full speed again. I've decided to move away from seeds for a while and work more with clones. To this end, I went out and looked at the EZ-Cloner. After getting a good look at it I decided to build my own. So far I've got the internals pretty well done, and need to work on the top next. My issue is, this thing is leaking like a bubble-bag from around the top when it runs. If any of the 150 members have built one of these and faced a similar problem, I'd surely appreciate some suggestions. Then the last thing I'll need to do is come up with a source of clones. Not an easy task in my area.

hi everyone!
two things... worst news last week: sorry, we are out of 150s for another 2 weeks. good news today: just shipped your stuff. so finally i'm in with the 150w. pics come when i finally get to install it...thursday i think.
just started week 4..if i'm not mistaken that means i should start with pk13-14 according to the stuff's label. it says to raise the dose every week. now i was wondering if that means top up with the bigger amount or is that implying that i change my (hydro) res every week, adding the given amount of pk?

Bonsai - Nothing as of yet. I was kind of hoping to be able to retain the snap-on, snap-off functionality of the top. That may not be an option now, but I'm not giving up yet. If all else fails, I may just stand the entire system in a larger tub and cut a "pass-thru" for the collected water to drain back into the main unit. That will be a LAST RESORT though.

have you considered Heat shrinking?....that way you could cut it with an exacto knife when you do need to take it apart?

well im going to be vegging under 180w cfl and flowering under my 150 hps.....but i have a newb question do they make 150 mh conversion bulbs i could use in my hps i know they make t hem for 250 and up but i havnt seen one in 150 form yet? if so where could i buy it?

Today I have checked the weight of yield, its 180grams, over 6 oz, but this stuff isnt perfectly dry yet, it need 2 days to be well dry..

rasta - I have never seen a 150 watt conversion bulb - the only ones I know of are for running a 150 hps in a 175 mh ballast.

pipedream - how about all weather stripping around the edge of the bottom container so that it makes a tight seal when you put the lid on? is that where the leaking is coming from?

Hey Suga! good news maybe.

Heady the third OB1 might be trying to pop through the soil. a close inspection and I can see the shell of the seed now...hmmmm that's movement. Still praying to the ganga gods. time will tell. that's 16 days so far...crazy huh? they were all swimming with Tails on the 18th of February and planted in Peet Pellets that morning. one popped out of soil in 3 days and the other took a little over 7....if this last one pops it will be aprox a 20 day germination...holy kadoodle!

Well worth the wait I have no doubt

wow bonsai that's crazy - are the temps cool where they are? I never do peat pots - strictly rw cubes for my seedlings and I just barely stick them into the hole...

anyways if you get all three all the better - what a saga those three beans have been - first you lost a few - then you found them - then they all germed right away - and now this! did the other one shed it's shell yet?

pipedream- thank you very much for the response. i do want to keep the blueberry strain going and make my own seeds. so if i only grow one plant at a time i can stress it and make it polinate itself therefore i would get fem seeds? or would they carry the herm trait? what is light poisining? interrupting its light cycle during flower? and what is asprin treating? thanks alot for ur advice bro. i also have some fem nycd/kottonkandy/sage seeds from hemp depot.

hey bluntman - you really want to get a stable mom and then take a clone - treat it to cause male pollen and self it to the stable mom around 3-4 weeks into flower. This way the seeds have a good 30-35 days to develop.

I've not heard of aspirin but if you search you should be able to find methods on using colodial silver or STS to induce male flowers.

Another option Soma talks about - he called it "roderizaltion" or something basically he took the plant way past finish but kept it healthy until it put out some male flowers - using this pollen to pollenate another plant earlier in flower results in all female seeds.

The resulting seeds are usually refered to as S1 generation.

When I was there I put the seedling tray up on some poly batting as insulation from the cold shelf and it looks like it did the trick. That is really something, 20 day germ. I can understand the slow pace due to temps but I'm surprised it didn't rot or damp off....I think the 25% humidity helps with those issues.

The Ganga Gods looked down from the heavens, saw that all was good, and smiled. For this they presented the third bean, the lost bean, the killer bean!

Mark it as 'the hard one' and let's see what she becomes.

hehe thanks suga! so what ill do is take a clone..herm it and then let it impregnate one lucky lady? sorry if im asking dumb questions, this is my first time growing an actual strain, not bagseed. will it herm if u interrupt its flowering pattern? turn the light on it for a couple hours a night till it shows signs of stress?

Last two or three days temp was little bit to high in the RedBox and some of leafs are little bit curly. In few days I will fim them all and after few next days I'll transplant them, add some nutrients and swich for 12/12. Any comments?

Hi Pipedream - that's an interesting cloner design. I've seen a similar design for a DWC growbucket. It had an overflow tube like an inverted U shape that maintained the level in the manifold without overflowing the plant cups. I think there's a hole dilled at the top of the U to prevent siphoning.

oh wow Q_ba! that's some awesome yield! have you ever grown in that system w/o using the cf's to add to the hps?
that makes me curious what your extra yield was...got a cf laying around right here and am thinking about sticking it in. it's not a warm white tho but some freaky "enhanced spectrum" bulb supposedly also having some funky sides of the spectrum included....may be worth a try..

well, today i'm gonna built me a micro grow micro active carbon filter...let's see how that works using a 70cfm blade fan! don't need much air movement, just enough to rid the cab of smells...i'll post up pics of that when i find that it works...don't get the carbon until i also get my hps (one package), so the promised pics of my stadium scrog come in a couple of days along with some other picturesque goodies.
