Pimp My Cab! (mills pride U2)

Pimp My Cab! (mills pride U2)

Please give me your opinions on this U2 design. This will be a TV stand. I will have to buy a flat pannel LCD 32" for the finnishing touch. Oh yeah and some cool decals and stickers ill splurge on, cause it gota look smooth.

This is looking down on the attic.

I only got 18" from floor to cealing/glass sheild, yet im confident it can be done with an Indica dominant strain. The cooling system is a great concept:

Air rushes around the relfector, even entering the vent on the reflector's side! It's also being cooled by a passive intake on the roof, which vents the hot air almost directly into the carbon scrubber. Becasue the fan is on the right, I need to compensate by having a 4" hole on the left to even the negative pressure. Above the 4" hole is the remote ballast mounted by L-brackets, being cooled by entering air below. This will set the basis for an 18" flowering chamber.

If this is, in your good opinions, possible, then everything rests in the hands of one hope:
That I can remote ballast the Floralux without fucking up the reflector.

That looks great, I'm sure there will be plenty of people that will say you can't have such limited height but if you're dedicated and keep it under control I have no doubt it can be done, I'd love to see it!

Also, here's a very detailed construction log of a U2 cabinet on some other forums, it's a great read, you might be able to pull some useful info from it.

Bounty,
Thanks for the link, just ran through the whole thread. He did a good job spliting the cabient. Its going to ge a nice read.

Are all the HomeDepots not buying from Mills Pride anymore?
All the ones here (entire state capital) are discontinuing them! So I just put one of the last U2's on hold. Its settled. If anyone finds information about removing the Floralux ballast, let me know please.

Been checking out blower fans... my goal is something small and kind of cheap
http://catalog.orientalmotor.com/vi...1083/mb-series-centrifugal-blowers?&forward=1

I am thinking: If I bought the 63 CFM model, it should have way enough pressure to exhust a small cab thru a carbon filter? The light (single 150w) would be getting a seperate system, so heat shouldn't be a problem..

The blower seems like it would fit perfectly in a corner of a cab, and yea.. exhust.

Lol. Ok, back to my semiquestion: what would a carbon filter do to a fan such as this? Would the cfm be changed much? And if so, is that enough air flow (er change over, idk) for a 18" x 18" x 31" space.. ??

Bulénath - I think your u2 setup is workable for sure - separating the light section from the grow area does have it's advantages for sure - but if you can't remember mine worked pretty well with the lamp in just in there and the ballast on the back - if your ballast is queit then it can be on the back

one suggestion I would consider using darkroom louvers on the back of the cabinet instead of doing the floor intakes.

here's a link to a thread on them with a couple of good links.

http://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=23249&highlight=louvers+darkroom

the 4" round ones aren't completely lightproof - maybe for light coming in but when the lamp is on in my cabinet they glow. a single 8" square one should be adequate for the u2.

nuglet if you're just using the 63 cfm blower to exhaust the cab through the scrubber that would work ok - blowers can push effectively through a scrubber - I prefer the professional models - again assuming that the lights are exhausted separately during operation.

odor control/fan

odor control/fan

Hi all,
In my constant vent/odor control quest, I came upon this:
Fan/Carbon Scrubber Combo
Anyone use one of these? Are they effective? And what is the noise level? I don't know if you can attatch a flange and use to vent. The descript sounds like you just run it in the closet/small room where odors are present.

mycall that fan looks like it would work outside the cabinet to kill odors, but from what I can tell it doesn't double as an exhaust fan. In other words it doesn't look like it will pull ar out of the cabinet and push it through the scrubber and out. FWIW my setup which is a 134CFM dayton blower + a 94cfm carbon filter was not much more and it works excellently for over a year now.

so how rude of me not to share some pictures....

here's the new c-25 400watt hps cabinet - 265cfm dayton blower and ballast in upper section carbon scrubber on the back of the cabinet.

here's the sash lock I decided to put on the front.

and here's the growing chamber with (5) 2 gallon dwc buckets in there. got two of the ob1s about 6 weeks into flower, two burmese pure one male one female, and a wh trainwreck from clone of last grow about three weeks into flower. the burmese are just a couple weeks into flower. soon I'll be pulling out the male and putting him somewhere else to release pollen for a few burmese f2s and also a back cross to the ob1. After that I may add another two plants - the cabinet is sized to fit 6 total buckets.

here's a few closeups of the indica pheno of the ob1 (my fav) boy is she stinky :D and sticky too :D :D

Thanks BigFAtJ

Thanks BigFAtJ

most of these pics are from OG where I was lurking :lurk:
I had just joined up and was learning all I could before I started my grow then it went down :badday:
well now we have IC thanks Gypsy
.. I am now able to say I have a couple of learning grows under my belt and am ready to share and learn, I am not a 150 user but you all have my respect for what you can get out of the 150 your all great and innovative.

Here is some BIGFATJ's SSScrog pics.

start with a coat hanger

bend it into a square

add string or plant tie's or what ever you have that won't cut the plant. (no fishing string ect..)

cut some ties about 2 to 3 inches long or use garbage can liner ties.

cut some dowels, plant stakes, ect.. about 9 inches long or longer, you want the screen about 6 inches or more off the top of the soil, (everyone has their own choice this is just what I recommend, but I'm still a newbie)

now cut some ties about 2-3 inches long or use garbage can ties

now duct tape time, dowel's and ties I use usually 2-4 ties per dowel.

finished product should look similiar to this

most people recommend having the screen on and let the plant grow to it rather then putting the screen on afterwards..
now remember it's your plant, so if it really stretches at begining of 12/12 then it should look like below pic, otherwise if it only stretches a little then let it fill in more, it's all a learning expirence

alright now the plant has stretched and top is green and not much light get's below, this purpose is to focus on no more popcorn buds and to maximize your grow so trim the lower half, (only what will not reach the top of the screen, use for clones, don't need clones, do it anyway and give away yes give away, remember OVERGROW the world, keep it stealthy becareful of who you give to or just plant outside city hall LOL then can we laugh at the city :pointlaug and ask if we can take the property that's it's growing on. DON'T DO IT JUST MAKING FUN)

alright now it's been in 12/12 for a while and it's about time to harvest (again noT my pics give the thanks to bigfatj where ever you are)

now if you didn't read bigfatJ's ssscrog then let me tellyou, if I'm not mistaken he had over 1gpw, on a couple of grows, yes over 1gpw (I could be mistaken but don't think I am) most were just under 1gpw but better then most people do. from what I've seen most get less then .33gpw

well I was in the construction field for a little while and couldn't enjoy our favorite herb except during the slow periods, but it's been work year round and travel so I couldn't :badday: but with construction demolish, if you find something that is going to be thrown away then you can keep it I found

these were 3 feet long by 1 ft wide, hmmm I cut it down to 1ft by 1ft and am starting my sssrog.

pics of my garden will be up soon but sorry it will be under the 400 watt site (please don't :bat: ),
I have learned alot from the 150 club thank you, keep up the GREAT WORK.

suga hope this helps since you couldn't find it and hope this is what you were looking for to share?

great grows everyone..

Hello everyone..... I've just recently started posting here at IC mag. (Been lurking for about a year) I did some lurking and very little posting on O.G.

Finally manage to put together a TV/aquarium stand grow box. After many, many late nights up reading and learning..... because of some unfortunate events...the need for stealth was in order. So I settled on the Mills pride U1/U2 cabs with optional top.(about an inch thick) This combined with a 5/8 inch plywood back........its stout. (but not super heavy) I screwed the cabs together and used lots of black/white paint and chaulk, LOTS of foil tape, 1" screws....to much to list. LOL.

AMBRE.....thank you for your inspiration for this project.....and you didn't even know it! You simply answered another person in some thread. BUT IT WAS MY ANSWER!!! The light bulb came on and away I went.....to one of my favorite stores... the depot.
Thank you, Manu'
(Pet one of those cats 4 me....I know theres bound to be one within arm's length!!!) LOL!!

P.O.M.H.- Followed your rubbermaid grows very closely. Nice job on some of your improvisations. Glad you finally made it out of the box!!!! Hope the cooler temps will help you out (along with everyone else).
May you and yours be well.

The BOX:

Ventilation is handled by a Dayton 134cfm (power sucking hog) it pulls air through 4 darkroom louvers. Yep, I said four. 2 on the flower cab (U2)--- 1 on the clone/mother cab (U1) and 1 to go between the two.

F.Y.I.- Darkroom louvers glow....I painted mine several times black/white/black/white. After putting a/c filter over all the louvers.....It's all good.

I have a 150w remote ballast in a cool tube. The Dayton sucks air through the louvers, into the fan, blows through the tube, past the lightbulb and out to a stardard sized carbon filter. (homemade-durbanpoison) Will work but I think this will have to be reworked to be a little stealthier.

The suction is enough to keep the clone/mom cab airflow that i dont need a fan in there (have cfl's in there) .....but I have a small 4" fan in there.... but I think its overkill---just extra heat that I dont need. I have 3 of these (fans) in the flower cab now. prolly gonna have to take one out (plant and fan). I'm worried about an overgrow....this has taken longer than anticipated.... theyve been veggin' a while...like 5-6 weeks.

The Goods:
I originally germed 2 Female Seeds Ice. 1 popped up grew 2 sets of leaves and promptly fell over and died. The other one never germed at all, scuffed and gave it three weeks..... Germed the other two.....along with a few BOG BMR (4) I figured since I'm new to this indoor. I'd f*ck up and one would die. None died..woo hoo. Made a rubermaid tub for a buddy and gave him the ice plants (about a 10"tall) a month or so old. So, I have that on the side. =) He took clones and has his screens on and is ready to flip to 12/12. He's under 6 42w cfls.

I've done the same.......I was originally gonna do this hydro...Sugabear II style.
SUGABEAR II - Thank you for sharing in this thread...it helped me more than I can put in words. I hope that by me posting my box....that it will help someone else the way that you helped me. Hope that new cab of yours is working out fine.... I have a C-24 (that actually has clothes in it) LOL!!! But it's gonna have a 600 hps in it eventually. Thats another story!
Sending some positive vibes for ya, bro. Keep it green. (but I know you will!!!)

Got a little anxious...... and this one will be in dirt. 8x8 pots. I have PBP g/b - LK - blast off - clearex - hydroplex - nitrozime- bout half gal. of guano super tea. But I NEVER us all of these together. In fact I only mix my nutes half strength. This dirt also has some ferts in it......so It's easy on the ferts. Even though this is my first grow...I find that just proper PH water and they do great...half strength PBP grow, LK, little epsom salts and thats once a week. I purposely let them get rootbound in 6" pots to try an slow em down, but their in the 8" (about 2 gallon) containers now. They have modified SSScrogs on em. Bout 6" high screen (give or take) I need as much room as possible with the low headroom of the U2. Gonna flip soon to 12/12... want some frosty nugs for X-mas.....but New Year's is more like it.

BULE'NATH: They make great TV stands!! I have my 32" on it and it fits great...along with a small beta aquarium (2.5 gal. I think) but the TV is not LCD or flat screen.......yet!!!! Heh heh.
I'm interested in your carbon scrubber....might re-configure my box after this grow....that might be something to look into.
DEFINATELY beef up the plywood on the back. You'll be a happy man.
I bought the thick white top and cut it to size....
Looks wonderful.
Good luck with all you do.

Gonna try and get some pics up soon......still very nervous about this (posting w/pics)....but want to share my love for this beautiful plant with the really cool, family oriented, righteous folks here at IC mag!!!

Sorry about the novel......I got baked and I'm a little long winded. But I have alot to say...Damn it!!!

Thank you again, Gypsy and Dutchgrown, and the crew at the boutique and the cats at seedbay. (Including the behind the scenes people...This means the I.T. people)
Because of your dedication and love for your work.....you allow use to do what we do......

Without you guys.....This would not be possible.

DON'T EVER STOP DOING WHAT YOU DO!!

Be lucky and be safe.

BRNEYDBVR,

welcome aboard! so glad the thread was of help and inspiration to you. The U2 is a great cab and I really like the idea of using the U1 and U2 combo with the counter top they sell for it. It's the perfect solution to the U2 not having enough room for a veg chamber - buy the matching single door cabinet and viola! so do you have the blower in the veg side?

About posting pics - this server is located in a-damn and is therefore out of the reach of LEO and anyways your IP address or any info about you is not stored when you upload the picture. The only thing to be weary about is that the camera does leave a trace on the original picture - if you edit the jpeg with notepad you will see a bunch of control characters plus in clear text the name and model of the camera and possibly other information. A quick edit and resave under a new name in an picture edit program (paint for example) will take this out.

Also if you're really sketched out a few pictures of your setup empty would be much less incriminating and we'd sure love to see :D

Speaking of pictures - here's one... Oregon90 x burmese pure at 45 days flower

I took some pics and put them on my desktop but can't seem to upload them to the thread? Went to user menu, chose upload pics.....got 5 pics but cant do anything with them. I'll have to try again tomorrow.

I'm digital camera illiterate. SCREW IT.......I'm gonna smoke a bowl.
