not sure if this is available at all lowes or just the few around my area (central va, us) but i picked up a few (5 to be exact) 70w hps fixtures that were discontinued.

Regent MD70HB

the black one is the one on sale. the white one is not. they included a bulb and i paid 2.60 a piece for the last four i picked up. i picked the original when they were at 13 something. i went back and the 13 something price was on the shelf but it rang up 2.60. must have missed the price change. but anyways for anyone who's handy can get one or two and modify them. might be worth a call to your area lowes and check and see if they carry item number 74021 and get price. heres a pic of receipt

that is a super bargain FA ! i will be snooping around Canadian Tire and Home Depot to see if they are likewise blowing out these models.

carlos, remoting a ballast is really not that difficult if you just remember that all you are really doing is lengthening the wires that go to the ballast . sugabear has a link that shows how to do it, if you want a visual reference. i just made a sketch of the wiring on the one i bought and referred to that during the conversion process . if you stay away from the lights which have an automatic on/off feature then that gives you one less thing to worry about .
dont be afraid to ask questions if my explanation doesnt do it for you .

best fan for small cab

best fan for small cab

Hello All!!
I am looking for the best ventilation for a small cab. I was set to get a 4" vortex fan, but then I read Bulenath state (many pages back) that he wasted a lot of money buying a 4" vortex for a 150 hps system. I wanted to use it becaues I have a large can type scrubber, and it is important to be as quiet as possible (I also want to buy a solid state speed controller- so I can turn down, to quiet things down). I have read this entire thread a couple of times, and just don't know what type of fan is best. The cost of fan is not an issue. Any help would be appreciated!! Thanks in advance.

hey 150 watters how's it going?

mycall - fans are an area of debate. the questions you need to ask are
what is your price range?
what is your desired noise level?
what are your ambient temps?

many here run computer fans without a problem. I've been running a 134cfm dayton blower with a 94 cfm can filter and it has worked flawlessly, but it's not super quiet. it is a little less loud than an air pump - which is just fine with me as i also have air pumps running.

so a 4 vortex may be overkill but with a solid state controller you'll be able to quiet it down abit. how big is your space?

htgsupply is very good - they upgraded my ballast on the 400 I ordered at no charge instead of delaying the shipment if you go with them you'll be happy.

that is the only 150 I have seen that wasn't over priced (200) and I have never seen a remote ballasted unit. I thought it was perfect for people not wanting to do the diy thing. but i should say the diy thing is really very easy.

keep it green and keep it safe

Thanks Sugabear!
I am just setting up my cab, and it is quite small- about 31"hx24"Lx12"W. I don't really have a price range. I made the scrubber following instructions from DurbanPoison (4"inner 6" outer- can type 14" long). Ambient temps in the mid 60's F. Noise level should be quiet, doesn't need to be silent- I am not sure of the db I am looking for. Btw the scrubber and fan will be on the outside of the cab. Any ventilation advice would be appreciated!! Thanks again.

mycall - with your small volume of air - less than 6 cubic feet - you will want to turn air over quickly. 110-140cfm should suffice.

Ok, so I'm going to order a 150w hps from e-conolight.com today, but I'm thinking about getting two... and using them side by side. What do you think?

hum i am not looking right know to buy a 400watter maybe in the future i will ya insidesun. has some real good prices but i hear good and bad some say they are good others say they are cheap and ballast brakedown early in life and also there shipping is bad. is this ture folks? this is what i see reviews.also you might want to look at htgsupply.com they seem to be better on top as better ballast and reflectors they expaln better about there lights on there website then any other site i seen. i talked to the owner when i was asking about his 150watter they sell and man he try his best in helping you out he takes his time to answer questions about his lighting systems and product's they take it easy but thank you for the info buzzed day peace :joint:

yeah buzzed day - insidesun is not worth the hassle when compared to htgsupply.

a quick search on insidesun will yield many bad complaints and a few positive remarks. One bad thing is enough for me to look elsewhere.

the htgsupply guys are really very nice - they totally hooked my order up and gave me more than what I paid for. And the ballast is super quiet too which was a nice suprise - I can't even hear it over my airpumps and fan.
