Hey Pipedream

So how do you phase in the transition from 24/0 to 12/12? Over what period and in what steps?

Oh and I love your cabinet - you've probably got beter things to do, but there'd be a market for pre-built cabinets like yours!

bong~ 36 hour darkness then 12/12. Im on day two of flower but I decided to try this out to see if it could help. As for right now, I can see the +diff. in the health(nice transiton of lights) of the plants.

This is before I broke its neck...

After...

The decapitated head of the plant stuck in soil right next to the body with just a little water. It wansnt looking too good this morning. I have not checked it tonight though.

Here it is after I trim everything off but the new growth.

Here is the other plant...

Hey everyone, I am planning on upgrading from my fluoro setup to a 150w hps setup from e-conolight.com.

How does everyone like this setup?

Anything to look out for?

bongoman - Here's how I do my transition from veg to flower.

All veg done at 24/0
Phase One - 21/3 for 2 days
Phase Two - 18/6 for 2 days
Phase Three - 15/9 for 2 days
Then, 12/12 for the balance of bloom.

And........I always do a 2 or 3 day total darkness period right before harvest.

Pipedream - What does the gradual change of the light periods do, anything noticable? I've heard of the total darkness for the last few days before, but not the phasing into 12/12. Sounds interesting...

Also, I just got my carbon scrubbers built today. I used some 1"x2"s, some Foil Tape, and some screen. Very simple setup, mounting them in the cabinet will be the tricky part. They're all measured out right, I just have a feeling I'm going to need more than two hands.

They're each going on one side of the cabinet, at the top. There will be room for a 120mm PC fan between them and the top of the cab. The dimensions of them are 12"x7.5", with a surface area of 10.5" x 6" on each. The carbon is about 0.75" deep. Hopefully this works out, we'll see in a few days as soon as I get my HPS hooked up and get to test out temps and ventilation before I get growing.

Also, I picked up the material I plan on using to make my hood, I'm still unsure as to how I'm going to design it though. I'm open to any ideas!

Hey BoB91. Thank you much for the compliments!!As I'm findin out with this first grow ,the less you mess with them the better they grow.I think if you give the plant the basic things it needs to grow ,it's gonna grow!

Your plants are lookin great man.Good luck the rest of the way,and good luck with the soon to be new born!!!!!!!

bounty29 - The gradual change from 24/0 to 12/12 is one of the two methods I use to help limit the amount of stretch the girls experience. It will work on almost any strain, however, the more Sativa influenced it is, the more the benefit is realized. The other thing I do to help keep the ladies short and bushy is to keep the day and night temps as close as possible for the entire grow. This will keep your internodal lengths as tight as they can be.

What kind of light do you veg under Pipedream? I've got 150w of 6500k CFLs, I'm hoping that will help limit stretch and keep the internodal spacing tight.

Generally speaking, I do everything under my 150w HPS. However, if the box is full and I need to veg for a while, I will use CFL's. I have two different CFL's that I use. Both are made by "Lights Of America." The first is a standard 42w unit that just screws into any medium base socket. It gives off an equivilant 200w of light. The second is a 500w equivilant that they sell as a security light. Its much brighter, however it does require a matching ballast in order to run. The first type of CFL can be had in any discount store for about 8 bucks, and the second type comes with a housing and reflector and can usually be found on-line or in a Home DePot type store for about $20.

Suga and Pipe thank you both! Made clone box and cuttings 12 hours ago, pics soon!

Coffin, very nice plants!

Bob, looks like your plant is recovering well, ill smoke one for her...:)

xxthexonesxx,
many 150hps growers use that light. There is a ton of really good information here about the econolight, some within the backpages. Would tell you more but I never used one. Stick around, youll find out what you need for sure:)

Bounty,
your using 10 x 15watt CFL's right?
That should keep the internodes really tight...
Especially having one 15watter per plant. The plants should make it within an 1/8" from the bulb by the time they are ready to flower...Meaning they are not too strong or hot...

Hey guys,

I'm getting ready to build a new bigger cabinet as I want to grow more than my usual two plants. So tonight I'm going to pick up a c-25 wardrobe style cabinet. I plan on doing 4-6 plants in there. If I go 4 it's going to be with a single 150 hanging in the middle of the 4 plants in a vertical scrog. If I go with six it will be something different and I'll probably add another lamp (most likely a second 150). Anyways so I gotta get it going soon as I need to shoot for harvesting by thanksgiving (11/23 this year).

In my current 150 cabinet
Right now I've got a bushy mom of the Woodhorse Trainwreck I just finished growing. She just started 12/12 last night.
I also have two seedlings of oregon90 x burmese pure at around 2 weeks from germ that also went into 12/12 last night. Both are on their fourth set of leaves.

In the veg cabinet;
I have a couple of cuts of the trainwreck that I'm going to put into DWC bucket tonight and put into the 150 cab with the rest of the plants.

In wet paper towels I have;
My last two burmese pure seeds - if I get a male and a female I plan to make some F2's as well as back crossing an oregon90 x burmese pure to make some (oregon90 x burmese pure) x burmese pure, if I get only get females I'll probably select a male oregon90 x burmese pure and make some burmese pure x (oregon90 x burmese pure) - If I don't get any females well I'll just cry :(

I also put two more of the oregon90 x burmese pure seeds in there just in case both of the seedlings I have growing now are male.

So I'm going to get some more seedlings going and I will throw them into flower quickly. As long as they get into flower by the 25th or so I should be fine.

Anyways... so I plan to get the cabinet tonight - assemble it as much as possible. Then early next week I'll transfer the fan, carbon scrubber, and light from my old cabinet to the new cabinet - hopefully this will go smoothly as the plants will not have a home until it is done

I'm really thinking of doing the Barrel of Green thing with a 150W.

Again, any thoughts from the more experienced growers here would be appreciated before I start buying stuff.

That barrel of green is interesting. I will have to check out, Prandas? grows with it.

I went to the website and clicked the link to DrPot.com. Check this out. a quote from the Dr. Pot site:

Dr Pot is NOT A REAL DOCTOR

I just about fell out of my seat I was laughing so hard.

Do people really think there is a Doctor named "Dr. Pot"??????

The barrel of green is something I'd definitely like to try in the future. Not my first grow though.

So I was putting together my cab yesterday, and I realized I had a large design flaw. Now I'm not sure how my light setup is going to work, if I'm goign to use a reflector, or what.

The two large black circles are 120mm 84cfm PC fans.
The orange circle is a 150w HPS.
The blue line is a sheet of tempered glass.
The dark gray lines on the bottom are carbon.
The curved light gray line is a reflector, maybe just a baking pan or something cheap.

Will this keep heat away from the plants? There is about 24 sq in of exhaust space, and there will be about 48 sq in of passive intake in the bottom. I originally planned to have an aircooled hood completely seperate from everything, but that's not possible now. Will this be better than say, having the carbon filters be two seperate chambers and the light just out there with no glass? I've still got to get through veg before this happens so I don't need to do something immediately, but I'd like to figure it out. Hell I haven't even planted the seeds yet, what am I worried about :badday:

Wellllll, I had to pull both plants and pack everything up. I just found out that my friend, who was just at my wedding, who was also one of my hookups before I started to grow just got arrested. There is a long story to this and unfortunately I cant go on about it but my freedom of my wife, her child, and our unborn is just not worth it. My friend does not know that I grow but we live in the same area and I was constantly at his house so I can not take any risks. So now I can not grow where I am anymore which sucks really bad. I was really liking this hobby.Next year after our baby is born we are supposed to move to another state so until then no more noobish growing for me. Can I still lurk and say hello every once in a while? I dont think I have really learned enough to help anyone but I would still love to lurk and learn!
:fsu: :badday: :badday: :badday: :badday: :badday: :badday: :badday: :badday: :badday: :badday: Oh well at least I have some of this for now....

oh man bob,

that friggin sucks big time. you're making the right decision. I imagine as soon as your friend goes to trial and his case is resolved you'd be safe, but by then you'd probably move anyways.

Well please do hang out and lurk and post and what not - all our welcome in our little corner here. Even if you're not growing you can share your thoughts and learn from others.

That's terrible bob, but smart move on your part. With all that at risk, it's just not worth it. I can't imagine losing my family over growing, it's so hard to understand why that's even allowed to happen. Is it worth it to tear a family apart over a few plants? How can the people that enforce these laws sleep at night?

Good luck to you in the future, and stick around if you can!

I wish I had more to show or say but thats it for now. I'll be around following your grows guys and gals. :joint:

And never forget to.....
