Its overgrowing big time, but there are improvements from last grow. The most noticeable is making the ballast remote, and stored in the cab's attic where the exhaust fan cools it. This makes it easier to get the plants closer to the bulb, quicker, and it seems to keep the humidity higher, as lately, each pot is getting less water and the soils retaining moisture much longer than last grow. Ambient humidity is a mere 3-4% higher than last grow on average, so it implies much more efficiency...

Especially the temperature fluctuation....Which has remained constant with last grows, although the CFM has been reduced from 70cfm last grow, to 40cfm this grow.
However, this could be argued by the fact that there is more green is in the cabinet than last grow, much, much earlier on!!!! More green means lower temps, higher humdity because of lower temps, and higher humidity from shading the soil.
Anyway here are the shots. Im getting scared, they are fucking monsters at this stage.

Notice above that the two plants in a pot are much shorter and wider than the plant in a single pot? Could this be because the roots are restricting growth to an extent? Possible. Its happier thinking its because the mother pheno of the two in a pot was a shorter, faster flowering Pheno with multiple genetic traits.

Okay im a lazy stoner and all but this is a good example of LST. It should have another string around the toughest top node by now, but what the hell, let'm grow and run wild, im taking some clones anyway...
All plants recieve the same amount of LST, that is, as much as they can handle at the same time.
Oh yeah, I cut the PBP grow/bloom 50-50 for the first time, tapering the transition.. Dont matter much as I have the regular PBP Bloom, not the "soil" PBP Bloom. Fed 5ml's into a quart of water as usual, and each pot took a half quart nicely. Again, once feeding starts, its fed DAILY until the death is near...
Plants are within 7" from the bulb. Still much room is below the pots, as they are stacked on many books! Man this is such a tease...Waiting...patinently as they take thier time to look all pretty and shit...Praying they are virgin females for my taking... ah women, aint any different with the human ones either...

Hey guys,just wanted to throw up a few pics of my plants at 31 days of flower.Strain is Hawaiin x skunk.Grow area is 2'x3'x3'.Plants were FIM'ed,LST'ed and flowered early.This is my first real grow and I am ready to harvest these stinky biotches!!!!

Before I grab one of these 150W HPS ballasts can someone in the know here tell me if it sounds OK?
I can get one for around $70. Yeah, it's 220volts which is what we use where I live.
Any clues would be appreciated.
I'm really thinking of doing the Barrel of Green thing with a 150W.
Again, any thoughts from the more experienced growers here would be appreciated before I start buying stuff.
I'm still not totally certain I want to go the HPS route - I've been thinking of doing an all fluoro grow using T5's.

coffin - those look like they need another 3 weeks before they'll be ready to harvest, but they are nice looking now too!
bule - Take the clones now if you want - I really doubt it will hurt the chances for females - I however usually wait until they show sex then I just clone the girls that way

unless i am mistaken, flushing involves nothing other than giving plant plain water ? how do you work the timing of this ... do you start flushing before trichs have achieved the desired colour ? if so, how long before ? how often ? how much water should be given ? if i harvest one part of the plant before the rest should i stay with straight water all the way after the initial harvest ?
Alright, so I got my cabinet painted and built. (Just for reference, Krylon spraypaint on this material scrapes off pretty easily, so be careful.) The inside dimensions are 28"h, 26"w, and 17"d. I think this will be enough for me to grow plenty for myself and my girlfriend. It works out to be 3.06 sq ft, so it's right on the 50w/sq.ft, and there's a total of 7.16 cubic feet in there. I plan on using two 86.5 CFM fans pulling through some Sterlite carbon scrubbers.
There will be 150w of 6500k CFLs from the time they come above the soil until they're ready to flower, at which time they'll be replaced by a 150w HPS! I plan on rigging up a very basic reflector for the HPS, see how the temperatures are, and if I need to, set up a cool-tube or completely sealed off ventilated hood. The floros will be adjustable and removable, and the HPS will be in a permenant location.
My last bag had 8 seeds in it, and I hope to germinate four of them, and keep up to three. As you can see in the picture with the cabinet open there are three Sterlite containers in there, each a little over 1.5 gallons. I know this is small for flowering, but I'm working with limited space, so hopefully that will help control them a little bit. I'll start them in Solo cups and transplant into the Sterlite containers. Depending on how many females there are, I might invest in a larger container. The Sterlite tubs are only 5" high, so that leaves me with 21" to the top of the ceiling. I plan to use no more than 6" from the ceiling down for my HPS.
This leaves me with 15" from soil to the light. I will most likely have the hood be air cooled and sealed off, so the buds should be able to get within a few inches of it. I'll definitely be putting a screen in here, I don't know that I'd be able to go very far without one in this cabinet. If I give the plants 10-12" between the soil and the screen, I definitely think I can have a successful harvest. If I can harvest an ounce from this, I'd be very happy. Anything over that will just be great.
I know that these are really tight dimensions, and will probably cause a lot of problems for me, but I feel that I'm up to the challenge. I can devote a lot of time to this project, and I'm sure I will. I figure if people can have successful, even productive and efficient grows in computer cases, why should this be any different? I should get underway within a few weeks, I'll be sure to keep everyone updated.

Green Grow - You are right, all flushing involves is giving your girls a large amount of plain water. Generally speaking, it's done for a few days in a row, a few days before your harvest. There are two reasons that growers flush their plants, the first has to do with plant chemistry and the growing cycle, and the second with bud taste.
During the normal growing cycle of many plants, cannabis included, distinct changes take place in the plants chemistry. Similar to the much talked about biological clock in women, these changes signal the plant when to start their varoius stages. One of the last chemical changes that the plant naturally goes through is the removal of minerals from its foilage. In reality, it just stops the uptake of new nutes. In a hydro system this becomes very apparent if you keep an eye on your bath and the PPM readings. This change signals the plant to complete it's seeding process by drying and preparing to drop it's beans. Part of this process is the decaying of the glands which can be seen as they turn from cloudy to amber. Flushing your plant will remove all of the minerals and force this process to begin, much like going to a 12/12 lighting schedule will force flowering. Growers that for one reason or another are in a rush to finish will flush their plants to accellerate the process. The down side of this is, that left to their own schedule, the plant would have continued to produce a small additional ammount of THC.
The second reason many growers flush is for the taste. Keep in mind that we are basically force-feeding these plants. As such, many folks think that residule minerals in the leaves and buds can alter the natural taste of the bud and in some cases may even be a health concern.

Good eye Pipedream. A sliding keyboard shelf was supposed to go there, but it was a waste of space so I left it out. There is a piece of molding that screwed into it, so I'm just going to superglue that onto the front. There will still be about a half inch, but I'm going to get some weatherstripping today. I'm still a little unsure about how I'm going to keep the passive intakes lightproof. I want 4 4" circular holes in the back, I was thinking of just making large rectangles out of posterboard and taping them to the back, with one hole on the far side at the top, and the passive intake at the bottom on the other side, with about 6" between the two holes, I've still gotta play with it a bit.

Section 1 will not be used for growing, it's just a shelf that I accidentally painted the sides of. Section two is where the molding will go to lightproof the growing area.
Tomorrow I need to find myself some promix, I plan on just doing a 70% Promix and 30% Perlite, and I'll probably be using the Foxfarm line of ferts. I still have to order my lights though so I probably won't be underway for about a week
Alright, I just placed my order for 3 of these fans from svc, which is a great computer parts and accessories site. That was a few pennies shy of $30 ($12 shipping.)
From 1000bulbs.com I ordered seven 15w 6400k CFLs, three 15w 2700k CFLs, a 150w HPS Ballast, 150w HPS bulb, and a mogul socket, which all came out to be a few pennies over $100 ($21 shipping.) I didn't go for the e-conolight model because it doesn't have a capactior, and I figure if I'm gonna set up my grow I might as well spend a little extra in the beginning and have everything go smoothly and be set up at maximum efficiency.
I also superglued the molding onto that open spot. I'll have to pick up some weather stripping to make the whole thing lightproof.
Left to do:
-Drill ventilation holes
-Apply light-proofing
-Design aircooled hood
-Order tempered glass for hood
-Wire up ballast and lights after I receive them
-Put CFL mount together
-Start growing!

Growing can be discouraging until you get the hang of it.
Dont give up, you can make it happen. I dont have the place to grow, but its all about the stealth operation Your off to a good start by being here... light one up and enjoy. There is much to learn, dont be afriad to ask questions.

sounds good, currently my plants are 3" from the bulb. All with just a fan blowing across the bulb, between the tips. A lot depends on your ambient temps aswell.
Im sure you could do even better! Nice job on the paint, thats one helluva pain during construction. One step at a time. What do you have planned for a sterilite scruber? I was thinking of building one with a computer fan for a stealth dryer...
For vent holes just remember to calculate the surface area of the hole, and not the diameter's total. 8-9 one and a half inch holes equal a single 4" hole. Something weird like that...

As my friend stated, it "will start to loose its webbed leaves and they will grow regular after a while.." But so far its the trippiest looking ganja plant I ever seen. I looks under the infuelnce of LSD.
Love, well, go figgure I had my hopes up for the girl and what does she do?
She goes and grows some balls. I took a look at all the branches and there are many female pre-flowers with white hairs. But damn it, there were two balls I scrapped off with my finger nail, located at the third highest node...
Perhaps it was just a freak occourance and she wont go full blown hermie...
But if she keeps straying to the darkside, then ima jus hafta choke a bitch, like its a gay bashing and she's Richard Simons.
