Hey, Dudes and Dudettes,

Greetings from the beautiful " ******** Institute for Rehabilitative Sciences". It ain't so bad here. No smoke, but the legal drugs really rock. Lots of Oxycontin, Percoset, and Neuradin (sp?). It deals with the pain, but keeps my mind slightly fogged. The computer is in the open lounge area, and they tell us that communications are monitored. I think they feel we'll all be on porn sites before our bodies can handle it. If things go well, I'll be out of here in just a few days and back home. My wife tells me not to rush it as she's sleeping better now than she has in over 30 years.

God you guys & gals have been busy. Lots of posts to catch up on. It will take me a while as we only get about 10-15 minutes of on-line time each day, and my mind constantly wanders. I'd love to send you a pic of a new grow, but this is the best I can do for now.

Take care and and I'll be back full-time as soon as possible.

Hey PD,
I went through the same surgery in 2001,
you'll be back up to speed in no time.

I've been away for awhile but I'm back and just about ready to get my show on. It's good to see this thread is still kickin' !

Hey all.

Got home this weekend and It's good to be here. First thing I did was to open a vacuum sealed mason jar of Jamican Sativa I harvested over 5 years ago and roll my first doobie in over three weeks. Even though I'm dealing with the pain with legal meds these days, I missed the stone associated with the herb. Once my head was in the right spot, I settled down to read all of the back posts on our thread and all of the great PM's everyone sent me. If anyone ever tells you that, well-wishes from people you've only met on-line really don't mean anything, it's a crock of shit!!! While I may have never seen your face, or you mine, some of us have been posting and PM'ing with each other for years and I consider you friends. As such, each message put a smile on this old face at a time it was needed. THANKS!!!!

Its great to see so many new members here and how well everyone's grows are doing. Checking out all of the great pic's has got me itching to get my system up and running as soon as possible. Once I'm a bit more mobile, I think I'll start by doing a redesign of my carbon scrubber to make it a bit more compact, free-flowing, and easy to change the medium. I'll be sure to document the entire process and take some good pix to post. If it works out, I'll be able to move my box back into the house from the garage and grow year-round.

stevr59 - Beautiful Harvest, Enjoy

Artie - Good looking start. I know what you mean about watching the plants. Years ago when I started my 150 Box, my wife always remarked that doors were open more than they were closed. They still are.

User Name - Sweet merry-go-round you got going there.

overgrowin - I hope so. Four laminectomies & two disks carved, not too much fun.

sug - Warmest regards buddy, and all due respect and thanks for keeping the club going strong!

well I offically joined the 150w club today, I just upgraded a 100w hps to 150 today, quite a bit more lumens and another few inches of penetration, should work perfectly in my small cab. This puts my total watt/sq ft at 58.8 from about 40w/sq ft, this should net me at least 30-50g more.

has anyone used the 150w e-conolight without taking it apart? Just using it as is, with the bulb and ballast together in the original container?

Just curious as it would seem convienant with the reflector and glass cover already in place, as long as you could keep it cool enough with a fan on it.

i have used the econo without taking it apart, just get you some glass cut (home depot) I think it was 6 bucks. It has done a pretty good job but now I plan to build a hood for it.

Corinado - Yes, several members have started off using the light right out of the box. It will work OK, however, it takes up a little more space than it needs too, and the lens tends to block a bit of light. As such, once they use it for a while, they usually modify it to better meet their needs. The two big advantages to modifying it are the ability to remote the ballast to control heat, and the addition of a much more effictive reflector. Both mods are easy to do even for the first timer and detailed instructions can be found right here on IC Mag.

Aloha everyone!
Stevr59, thats a FAT harvest, enjoy the fruit of your labor and smoke one for me!

PipeDreamBeliever,
Congrats of the recovery and getting out of the hospital.
I hear ya on making friends through the internet and through PM's.
There is always a superficial aspect to it, becuase a computer has no emotions in iteself. However, I too have enjoyed friendhsips made through the 150HPS club!

Suga- I just recieved the package in the mail, you did a great job packing them!
Again, thank you for the gift! We shall see how they like the tropical climates!

(Exacly what PipeDreamBeliever was talking about! Friends made through the 150HPS club that have grown close enough to safely share our adresses, and potential females packaged in an envelope!)

My babies are doing great, and on day 28 (yesterday) I started LST on all three.
Took many pictures too, but this college things is very demading, so i find myself with limited time, like at the moment... Gota pack them books and hit the bus.

New memebers- welcome to the club! Enjoy your stay!

Sorry I dont have time to read through all the new posts, for college has me reading like 100 pages a night about things I dont care for!

But pictures and stories will follow through shortly, and I just wanted to stop by and give everyonea big Aloha.

Good luck PipeDreamBeliever! (by the way its me Wazen, aka Sianeminty)

Aloha all!

hey Bulénath glad they made it to you ok. please let me know how they turn out for you. I just put 5 into wet paper towel yesterday :)

User-name - sorry to hear about your forced early choppin' - still looks pretty good - whadda you guess the yield to be like? Looks like you're already into flower in the other cabinet so that's cool - be careful to avoid mites - maybe some predator bugs are in order.

whatup suga! :D

yea they're still surprisingly tasty. can't wait to see what a cure does for em. smoking this stuff is better than smoking most stuff i can buy. most of these wanksters want $60/eighth for the good stuff. if only they knew........

i've got about an oz left or so, maybe 1.5. plenty to hold me over until the good stuff is done :D

the other cab got a wipe down and safer spray about a week ago. i'm gonna take em out and wipe the leaves down again and give maybe one more spray. i think some ladybugs are definitely in order here.......why haven't i done that already?

username - i noticed i had mites lastnight...i use 50% isopropyl alcohol, water, and a few drops of dishwashing detergent to get rid of my mites. im not to sure if its bad for the plant or not but it did work... also after the alcohol spray i drenched the leaves and bud about 3 times with distilled water to get rid of anything that may have stuck to the plant. hope this helps

SUMMARY #1: Rubber Maid disaster

SUMMARY #1: Rubber Maid disaster

Aloha everyone!

Over the years, I have spent nearly $600 in mistakes,
ranging from buying a Vortex 172cfm fan and can9000 for a 150hps grow,
building a special attic with hand crafted super thick insulation,
DIY muffler, and a lot of wasted bullshit and money.....

If you look a few pages back you will notice my first successful grow.

Now I will go into detail about my recent Veg Box mistake that was fucking costly,

Then the new veg box which seemed to work out (lets pray they dont all go hermie on me). Seems to work out means that it works better than the first, but it wasnt totally light proof, probably good enough though as its in a closet, clothes hanging are hidding most light, etc..

After that, some pictures following 22 days of veg, 8 days of flower, 3 phenos on three plants, modifications to the 150hps perpetual, future ideas, and so on...

Here we go...

The quietest and most efficient COMPUTER fan I have researched, found at CompUSA.

Setting the fan up...

Hood Orientation, using a four way converter for the CFL's, and pvc as light traps.

180 degrees of 2" pvc on the back to help capture light leaks. However, after $10 in glue and a hell of a lot of caulk, ducktape, it would never stay on the plastic Rubber Miad.

Fan set up is placed over PVC thats glued on the hood for a PASSIVE INTAKE.
Gettin the picture?

A small peak under the hood, and the mistakes made.
After countless OverGrow disscussions, the best Idea seemed to use that special expensive spray paint that sticks to plastic... whats it called..?...Krylon? Anyway the stuff would break away and chip off, because I was too stoned to realize that plastic is flexible! DOH!

Well after using three cans pluss a can a primer, the thing wasnt lightproof.
All that time and money wasted. But some supplies went into the new cabinet, which worked much better....

Let me introduce you to the U3 - 15" Wall Cabinet from Mills pride.
Its roughly 24 inches high.
Panasonic Whisper Fan is the quietest most efficient fan there is, imo.
It was suggested to hook it up "Directly" for efficiency, so I removed it from its cage and adjusted the 4" hole into a Large rectangular vent, using a damn file and arm power over countless hours!!

Heres a top view of the retangular vent I made, as the bare Panasonic guts have a 5"x 3-1/2" vent. And I was stupid enough to throw away the removed parts! Little did I know it wouldent be light proof because I took the fan from its special little "Box". Shit. But the shoe box coveringthe vent works alright, and the air vents out the back. Besides, with the actual "Box" or casing that held the Panasonic Fan guts, the timer and powerstrip would barely fit...Oh yeah the fan is rated at 70 CFM. Thats like 15+ air exchanges per minute!

I took about 5 Inches of foam and compressed the hell out of it, ductaped it together, and pryed it under the fan. The force of the foam trying to re-expand presses the panasonic whsiper fan against the vent PERFECTLY, without the need for Caulk or duck tape!

The passive intake was salvaged 2" PVC pipes. A second and risky atempt at making sure the weight of these PVC beasts can hold with super glue and caulk. Luckily, they held like cememt!
But they stuck out a little too much, So I had to raise the cabinet about 4" to accompany the PVC light traps.
For this I used two lengths of a nice, thick sized wood. 90 degree "L" brackets hold the two piece stands together, and the entire stand is drilled inplace from the inside of the cabinet.
But it looked out of place, so I built some nice melamine trimming to attach over the bare, ugly wood. I need stealth. Still yet, there is a faint glow under the cabinet, but nothing can be done, and its less significant than 150HPS!

for the lighting, I used 19 Watt, 6500K, CFL's. Though only three is enough for this small space! The fourth will not exist, for my clones will be there eventually! And the mother in the middle!!

TOTAL COST: OVER $200!!!! ouch. But she is silent as a whisper! and the internodes are kept so healthy and tight, its amazing! Eventually 2-3 week old plants will be within 1/6 of an inch from the bulb, without getting burned.
