I bought a couple of those 150s amazon had on sale, thanks irie. I've already got an 8 bulb cool cfl and and a remote ballasted 150 for my cab. and that's fine. But $32 for 2 150s delivered was just too good. I noticed Wally's carries a nice 59" cab for $50 now. Maybe I'll get that, paint it white inside, rig up another fan, and go perpetual. Maybe I'm just an idiot. Nice light though.

your not an idiot... you can always go full on perpetual with two 150s in flower cab and one plus cfls in veg cab you'd be pumping out the buds nicely

the real question is do you have time and space?

Hey everyone thats watching my grow,I have a small problem.I am going on vacation in February so if I want a harvest(which I do greatly)I am going to have to start the 12/12 photoperiod today or tomarrow.I dont think I will be yielding too much product though.I wish I would of known about this trip but my mom has set it up and I dont want to get her upset and who know's this may be the last time I get to go on vacation.

Here is some pics of the oldest plant. There seems to be a nute def.One blade on a set of leaves is kinda twisting, from what ive seen in the infirmary its too much light or nute def(not sure which one).It is in FFOF with maybe 40% perlite.I havent watered it in 3 days but that doesnt seem to be the issue.other than that this is the best plant Ive grown indoors.

Here are the others. This one is a mutant as you can see and badly burnt :badday: May evan hermie

This one is still got the yellow tips? They are not getting anymore yellow so I have no idea what it is.Thanks for all the links and info everyone your all GREAT.

igrowdadank - flip 'em away - this will cause the plant to naturaly grow quickly - and out of a funk they might be in - IMO holding plants in veg is much harder than flowering them out and allowing the plants natural instinctual drive to reproduce take over. this is the whole theory behind sog - where a tiny - just rooted clone is flowered and it takes off reaching up to 3' and turns into a bud stick.

so flower 'em out and quit worrying.

just checked amazon for some timers and noticed the 150HPS is now $50 instead of $17. so its not as great a deal as before. still has free shipping though.

on a side note should i use separate timers for my two 150hps or one timer with two outlets? im thinking two timers set about 10-15 minutes apart, does that sound ok?

bagseed clone under 200w of cfls soon to be 300w of HPS :rasta:

Irie - nice looking bud

I'd recommend running a power strip off the timer and powering your two 150's (and any CFL's or floros you may add back in) off of the power strip.

Also on the subject of timers I must as usual make a recommendation for the digital heavy duty intermatics as opposed to a heavy duty mechanical type one as the digital will keep much more accurate 12/12 cyles than the mechanical ones - you'll find over several weeks the on time will drift to be up to 10 minutes later than what you set. Now a slightly varrying schedule won't mess up your plants as long as the 12/12 remains - but it can mess up your schedule if say you check them day before work and now you have to wait another ten minutes for the light to come on...

edit: and if you ever have short power outages the mechanical ones will be totally screwed up - the digitals have a battery powered clock and will keep accurate time even if power goes out - the mechanicals rely on keeping track of the 60hz cycles for time and therefore no power = no movement of the clock.

Anghellic, why you upping to 250? I was thinking of getting that instead but was thinking 2 150s side-by-side for scrogging and keeping them close to the canopy. Man, 250s are nice though, I had my eye on a digi.

nice plants all :kewlpics:

thanks sugabear_II ill look into some digital timers, and yes we do have power outages alot during this season due to all the wind and rain so ill be sure to get digital.

what do you think about those outdoor stake timers with a couple outlets on them? i even saw a power strip with a timer(manual) built in for $4.15 half the outlets on a timer the other half isnt.

im using emergency blankets too and they do the job for a buck 35. just lined my hood and now its alot brighter on my lower branches. i had best results when i glued it to some poster board and made it very tight so the creases were hard to see. i did notice that one side is more reflective than the other so check before applying it.

i think the main differences between e-blankets and regular MYLAR is e-blankets are folded and have tons of creases that dont come out and is really thin. mylar is usually in rolls and come in different mil thickness. the thicker the stronger. might be ordering some on ebay mylar since my cab is 4 1/2 feet tall and the roll is the same length. never seen any mylar at my homedepot so yours might have better stuff than mine. i think all mylar is the same basically besides the thickness and dimensions its just shiny stuff.

found this power strip digital timer TIMER LINK and wanted some opinions from others on whether its good or not.

i used emergancy blankets.

i used emergancy blankets.

it works fine.. not loosing color as an aluminium foil would.
you realy have to glue it good to the box...
now i use a wardrobe ruther than a big box and i will just paint in white...

here how it looked:

any one saw the amazon deal again?
it was soooo sweet...

Plenty of folks have used the emergency blankets with great results. Plus, its a whole lot cheaper than mylar on rolls. And, even aluminium foil will work though not as well. When you hear growers say "don't use aluminium foil, it will create hot spots" it really doesn't apply with a 150 or CFL grow. Any so called "hot spots" won't be strong enough to create a problem. The trick with any reflective material is to keep it as flat as possible, so that the light is evenly distributed.

While I've used various materials over the years, and still have mylar in my box, my favorite remains highly reflective flat white paint. It cheap, easy to apply, lasts forever, easy to clean, doesn't introduce any loose material into the box, and doesn't create a hidded space where mold spores, pollen, or bacteria can hide or grow. In fact, there are paint products out there that are more reflective than some of the above products, and almost as reflective as mylar. I've used it on a couple of boxs I built for friends with great results. In fact, the next time I rework my set-up, the mylar is coming out and paint is going in.

thanks for the info guys! i think im gonna stick with the blankets for either this cycle or just for veg, then probably gonna go with flat titanium white paint.

Peace!

The timer looks pretty good - and should be strong enough to switch your lamps. (15 amp - 1875 max watts)

On the mylar versus e-blanket - having tried both the mylar is just a much thicker material - unlike the e-blanket which you can see through the mylar you can't.

I've also used some stuff called astrofoil in my cab - it's like mylar and bubbly wrap combined.

My local hardware had it on a big roll by the 4' wide by the linear foot -

it had more structure and I even made walls out of it like here on the fan
