150w HPS Club and Resource Guide......

Bulénath or any other mini florax user, to remote the ballast obviously you had to splice the wires right? i see how it unscrews from the hood but will i need to add my own extra wire? i cant mess with mine atm because i have it running on my poor little overwatered sedlings.

also thanks for the tip i got a panasonic wisper fan comming soon. gonna do your scrubber.

and... the 150 is brighter than i expected. awsome sauce!!

Softy - welcome aboard

Bulénath hasn't been around for a while unfortunately :badday: he's going through some things last I pm'd with him and I'll leave it at that.

From what I remember yes you need to add some extra wire to make it all work. I'm not sure if it's soldered to the socket but if it's not I would try disconnecting there and then connecting a female plug to those wires (should now be connected on one end to the ballast) and then take an extension cord and cut the female end off and wire that end to the socket.

OR you can just splice in a section of extension cord.

Hey Guys & Gals,

A word of CAUTION here....

Unless you know exactly what you're doing, do not use solder on 120vac connections. Both the Uniform Building Code and the Underwriters Lab specs do not permit it. Both call out screw-type connections. Why? Because if the connection heats up for any reason (e.g. ambient temp build up, resistance, or arcing) the solder can easily melt and flow. If it should, you have the making of a true fire hazzard.

In my opinion, there are only 4 rules to growing your own.
1) Safety First
2)Tell No One
3)Tell No One
4)Tell No One

JMHO Good Luck and Regards, PD

thanks for the info guys, i decided to leave it in tact for my first grow anyways. i figure after i get some gear then i can get creative till then i'm gonna kep it simple stupid or K.I.S.S

Plants have stretched a little more! I'll raise em up in a few days when i know they wont stretch anymore. Here they are at day 16 of 12/12

My favorite plant

again...

close up of her tippy top

One more of her in the box

And my attempt at a bonsai mom!

She shares my old rubbermaid tub...now veg box with the plants to her front and right in this pic

The full size plants in veg got a very small dose of bushmasters today, they will get one more watering with it in a week and then go into the flower cab. The plant on the left was in the cab already and needed water a little before the rest in the flower cab. They will get water saturday or sunday. Im running Moonshineman soil mix, so i just feed with 6.5ph water. All the organic dry ferts are already mixed into the soil. I will however be adding a little purple max throughout the flowering phase, gravity 3 weeks before chop, and 2 plants are getting some bushmasters as a test.

RD -

Nicely Done, I can almost smell them from here.

That Bonsai looks like she'll serve you well as a doner for future grows.

Don't forget to post a "smoke report" after the harvest.

In a cab, could you separate the top part with the lights with a plexiglass panel that spans the whole cab, then cut a 4" hole in the panel and attach a scrubber to the hole?

No. LOL just kidding. If that's what works for you, give it a shot and let us know what kind of results you get. I don't see why it wouldn't work, though, why do you feel the need to do that w/a 150?

Cause I was thinking 150w hps, plus 80w of CFL or T5/T8 in 8 cu. ft cab would be too hot, and definitely way hotter than room temp

I could be wrong or over skeptical though, I was just told last night by SB that heat probably wouldn't be a problem.

If using just computer fans, a space sectioned off with plexiglass panel would probably be necessary though huh?

*even thinkin about indoor setups makes me feel stupid. This shit is hella complicated, that's for sure. I mean, the basics aren't but there's always 1,000 tiny details to throw you off

sometimes the only way to really iron out the bugs is to jump in and give it a shot. I wouldn't try the method you're considering though. I would have the top chamber fans on timer with the lights so they run at same time with maybe a .5 hour extra fans on after lights off.

Then bottom chamber a separate fan and carbon scrubber.

I think you're biggest issue will be with the closet in which your cabinet is going getting over heated.

Can you move the cabinet out into the room? otherwise you'll probably need to have the closet door open all the time or an exhaust with another fan pulling hot air out of the closet and cool air into it

Just a suggestion on the closet heat buildup issue, my closet is across from the exterior window. IF YOU HAVE SMELL IN CHECK, I don't mean kinda, I mean completely, you could pump the heat out of your open closet door and straight out the window with a box fan. Another thing I was thinking, because my closet has an air intake for our central A/C unit was to get another wall plate for the intake, seal all but enough for a dryer hose to run to a cab's exhaust, and run it out of your A/C ducting. This is dangerous for the same reason before though I think, the smell.

Wow, what a ramblin.....

HTH someone
