Joined the 150 watt club today!

I can finally join the 150 watt club! UPS delivered my 150 watt Floralux Mini, and set it up over my Paradise Seeds White Berry seedlings. This is my first grow, and I'm using DWC. You can check out Gy Grow Diary Here

Welcome Aboard Mole. Looks like they are off to a nice healthy start!

Guess I'll have to pull up a chair and hang around a while. New growers and crops about ready for harvest. Can't think of almost anything else I'd rather spend time with.

ReeferDan - My cabinet kind of pushes the envelope with respect to size. My growing footprint is 20"x32" or 4.4 feet. Its a little big to be ideal with a 150, but works fine for me. I sometimes supplement my light with a CFL, but not often. And like others have mentioned, there is no way I could out-smoke what its able to grow.

mall wart has 40 w cfl for around $8,there 2750 lumens
I can get a 150 hps security light in a local store for $50 with about 20,000,lumans
which would work better?

To match the lumen output of the HPS you'd need at least 7 of the CFL's which means you'd be using more power to run lights that aren't as intence, and have less of the red spectrum. Just my 2 cents though.

so i got a nice setup waiting for me to start up but i'm stumped on what to do for a fan. i've got the elf carbon scrubber 4" x 10" but i need a fan before i get started. i've asked around on many sites for a quiet inline fan or squirrel cage blower.

does anyone have any experience comparing the noise levels of squirrel cage blowers vs. inline fans? my main goal is for it to be quiet.

i've been lookin at the sunleaves windtunnel inline fan, it's supposed to be quiet. anyone use it before??

please recommend me a quiet fan!! haha, i wanna get this started!!

thx for the help guys, i can't wait to show my set up!

never heard from anyone so i decided to just go ahead and get the vortex and speed control with the elf carbon filter. anyway, got my 150 today and threw it in my homebox xs!

More pictures in the gallery, my new cabinet is working out great. My only problems are with the place I have my cabinet, very high humidity. I'm trying to figure out a way to run a dehumidifier and AC alternating, I made a thread about it here if anyone wants to try and help out.

I'm really loving the 150w HPS, I have no doubt it'll be able to supply the demand of my gf and I. Any questions feel free to pop in my current grow thread, and as always, wonderful shots in the 150w club. :joint:

150w hps arrived for my micro spot today :woohoo: already have the front wall and door built for my cab, now i can run the wiring and such out the back and finish that wall. only thing i have to complain about is how loud the ballast is....WAAAY louder then my 600w ballast :yoinks: whudufuxup? makes no sense but oh well, i got a home to finish for my LOC x G13, jack herer x white rhino, and MOD menage seedlings

hey...i asked about this light before and never really got a response. i looked at the info closer and it says it uses the same ballast as their flood light that is usually shown here. would it basically be the same thing? this one is only 20 dollars for a 150 hps.

redboi- im sure you could rig it up, i men a 150w is a 150w whether its sunleaves or econolight, if thats the one you like go for it and let us know, the emphasis seems to be on the $50 150w hps as it comes with a reflector that can be used and there are many, many people using them with great success. but that can always be swayed....maybe that light you posted will be the new standard for a low budget 150w hps??

Yes. That light will work fine, and if you're even remotely mechanically inclined, it's easy to turn into a remote balast. That's the same light I got, and it's worked well so far.

Sorry to have to correct some electrical advice but BLACK is HOT and WHITE is NEUTRAL!! Not the other way around!!! The electrical code determines wire colour, not manufacturers. If the colours of your ex. cord don't match, the HOT (black) connect is the larger prong on the left (when looking at a receptacle), NEUTRAL (white) is the smaller prong on the right and the ground is the round prong on the bottom . Ground wire should be attached to the metal case of the light somehow. Grounding is very important or you could get shocked or start a fire. If there is no ground and only a two prong polarized cord is used, the above info (prong sizes) still applies. I would recommend using a 3 prong grounded extension cord and connecting the ground to some part of the metal case or metal frame with a screw. Make sure to scrape away any paint and connect to bare metal. The longer the length, the thicker your cord should be. I would use at least a 14 ga if not a 12. The lower the gauge number, the thicker the wire.

I felt this needed to be corrected. The wider blade on the left of a polarized receptacle is NEUTRAL (white). The small blade is HOT (black). Also, for people wiring their own light sockets, the wider blade (NEUTRAL/white) should be wired to the outer (threaded) part of the light socket for safety reasons.
