hermie seedstock will carry hermie genes to their seeds....the only difference is if a plant hermies naturally, environmentally, or over-ripens after its flower cycle and throws out some nanners. depending on which of the three caused the hermie will determine how likely it is to find a hermie in the plants you grow from the seed.

thanks rkrone, I believe my hermie is due to light leaks. I fixed the leaks after I noticed a seed developing. I never found the nanner(s). Now I'm just crossing me fingers that I get some weed that isn't chok full 'o nuts.

I also hermied a plant which had a rough life. It could have been a number of things, I moved it from outdoors to in, temperature change along with that, and a couple blackouts and I wouldnt be surprised if there were lightleaks. It produced about 10-20 seeds. The 3 plants ive gotten from the seeds so far have all been female and not hermied.

From my experience, and what I know of other grower's trials and errors, seeds from plants that do a partial self sex reversal tend to be heavily female. The problem is, those seeds are passed a very shallow gene pool with a strong non-desired trait. As a result, they often change themselves and are poor producers of female buds.

Creating a hermaphrodite is needed to produce feminized seeds. However, you want to start with a very stable known female without the trait, and force it to change. Then use the resulting pollen to cross with another stable female. This will enhance the gene pool and assure a much more stable resulting generation.

They are the industrial type hps with the ballast dead on top of the fixture. It would be as loud as an ac/dc concert since it isn't designed for stealth as my htg light is.The lumens,16000,is the same as what I recently bought from e-conolight,which raises my own question;IS there a difference in hps bulbs that are for industrial use and bulbs that are for horticultural use??Do they put out the same spectrums?
Oh,and on a side note:Grandpa always said that we get what we pay for.....
Peace

fungus gnats dont seem bad at first but they lay eggs in your soil and multiply. the larvae starts eating away at your root systems and can ruin expensive seeds and eventually even kill plants depending on the number you have in there. ive had problems with them and its best to kill 'em all before they get out of hand.

looking good 150w hps club! this thread has been one of my favorites since its first page back on overgrow.

yea even at 20 beans id rather spend more money on something that will last then have it crap out (or be noisy) and have to get another one anyways...

at one point i believe i read that the 150 watt hps ballast at 1000bulbs was of much better quality then those at econolight. any validity to this? anyone running 200 watt hps?

hardhat ... yes they are a bad thing . that link you found actually describes them and their actions quite well . good find ! high and lonesome also described the problem accurately.

at first i thought they were fruit flies because they are so similar, except that their flight pattern is noticeably different ... fruit flies tend to "float" around rather lethargically when disturbed, whereas these fungus gnats "dart" to and fro quite quickly.

anyways, they are in my grow, mainly in the veg cab, and they mean to harm my plants ... now it's personal !

I got them in my grow a while back. I hit them with neem oil, yellow pest strips and 1/2 inch of perlite on top of the soil in my pots so the larve cant get out as adults. If in hydro you can use mosquito dunks for your res at 1/4 to 1/2 strength. Also they like it hot and humid so try and let your plants run a bit dry till you get them under control.

They breed like crazy and you will have swarms in no time if you don't break out the big guns.

Good luck.
