Former member/lurker on OG and Ive been over at GP for a little while but this 12/12 from seed convinced me I needed to join ICMAG(That and the good Dr's perpetual SOG!) JIt looks like there is a TON of info on this site and lots of good DIY's
Just started(like an hr ago germing) 3 nirvana blue mystic fem, 2 CH9 Jack fem and a widow fem.
Here is my ? Would it still be ok to take clones from a 12/12 from seed plant (assuming there is enough material to clone) before it shows any pre flowers? Essentially I will be throwing the clones in flower as soon as they root so its not like I'm trying to re-vert them back to veg or anything. Typically, like most I take my clones during veg.

I have a Satori by Mandala, I love the scent of this woman! Anyhow, I had harvested all but a lil scrubby leaf and left the pot in the corner. I looked at it a week later and it was sprouting. I have 6 of her chillens in veg.
The 1st time out I ran the Satori 12/12. It also likes a bit of veg Some strains go screaming others end up runts. f/e I have some Lifesaver that won't lift past 12" 12/12 from seed, but the Romulan go from seed to 30"+.
Now I run seeds 12/12 from dirt to pre-flower. Then veg some a bit take some cuttings. Then in 2 weeks flip em.
But The Romulan is a 12/12 champ. And mighty tasty 2.
Assuming the material is there to clone, it will be no different. The plant is still in veg, just as "normal". Being under 12/12 just means that as soon as it is mature, it will start flowering. It doesn't change the plant in any way, and does not need to be treated differently.

I'm curious why you start from 12/12, then go to a veg cycle? That defeats the whole purpose of 12/12 from seed. If you're vegging, just use a veg photoperiod.
Preflowers won't appear before the plant is mature, 12/12 or no.

I have a very small veg/flower space and for some of the strains I run I like them to get bigger than 12".
12/12 will get to sex faster. So I'm not wasting space vegging males.
Also all my flower space is for fems cept the tiny seed pots that ride the 12/12 till preflower. I want the most space used for flowering females. I hope that's clear? bidk-i'm high!
It's quite possible I complicate things in order to have something to do.
Having done many, many runs from both 12/12, and regular veg, I can assure you it does not mature any faster. The plant is sexually mature when it is sexually mature. Light cycle doesn't effect maturity, it merely effects what happens once maturity is reached.
The only benefit of running 12/12 from seed is that there is no 'lost' flowering time. The plant begins flowering as soon as it is able, instead of waiting for you to flip the lights.
I've been known to do that more than a few times

Thanks for the welcome! That is basically what I was thinking, or worried about was the amount/size of cloneable material. I'm one of the people that think the flowering doesnt start until a pre flower is show...its just like if you were growing from seed, outdoors somewhere where you actually got 12 hrs of daylight (or close).

Putting a plant into flower and then back to veg is very stressful. This is evident if you have seen a reveg after harvest. Some strains will simply go dormant if not allowed to fully flower. They will stall sometimes for months before the new 5 finger leaf growth restarts. A very vulnerable period when they can easily get over-watered and suffer from ammonia toxicity.
Some will take it just fine, others not so well.

i was looking for something and ended up finding this very interesting thread. due to stupidity and lazyness i'm out of reefer (first time in 16 years) but i have 46 seedlings at almost 3 weeks old. after reading some of this thread and growdocs i'm seriously considering throwing most of them into flower as i need reefer soonest! i typically veg for 2 months and most of my genetics are 60ish days to finish. my friends can't even score mexican right now and i'm in phoenix, hopefully someone will score soon. dear lord, it's me again...
i'm thinking i'll put 10 or so into my veg closet and grow them out/ tie them down to get a bunch of clones ready for when this crop is cut. even if i only get 18 fems out of 36 plants and if i can get an average of 5 grams per plant i'll be fairly happy. it won't be much but i can stretch that little bit for a couple months.
i transplanted these on sunday. they are in 1 gallon bags.
i have some serious thinking to do and no reefer to do it with.

You should first check on the size of your grow pots. 3 gal is pretty big for a 12/12 from seed.
If it were me, I would think about 1-2 gal bags. A 2gal bag is going to be at least 15.25-17.75cm wide. (16-25 bags per 80x80)

i put my 3 week old babes into flower today. i've never done this before but i have a friend in cali who says he always flowers at 3 weeks and i need reefer soonest!
this pic is at 2.5 weeks right after repotting into 1 gall bags. damn i love me some grow bags. these are apollo 13, apollo 13/cindy 88 cross (it's a great cross, one of my favs) and sensi star. i put 10 plants into my veg closet leaving 36 for flowering. i'm hoping for 18 fems or more. fingers crossed. i used these genetics because they are all ready for my tastes (80 % cloudy trichs with some still clear) in 60 days or less.
600 watt light, can be either MH or HPS (love my electronic ballasts). Fox farm light warrior for seedlings and then transplanted into fox farm ocean forest with added perlite.
i also have so many crosses that i haven't been able to try yet so i'm going to try the 12/12 from seed thing. i just dropped 30 skunk #1 (not the freebies, these are the great ones that were for sale in 1996) and northern lights cross. i'm going to throw them into flower a few days after i pot them. i don't really care about yeild on the 12/12 ones, i just want to try them. i've had some crosses since 1996 and still haven't had the room to grow them cuz of all the other great genetics i have.

Shagrath: if i had a MH buld, i'd use it for the first 3 weeks of 12/12 to compensate for the stretch that the seedlings will go through growing up in 12/12. The HPS would make em lanky as hell. i run my 250 hps with 2x 42W cool CFL's to help compensate, but if i had a MH buld, i'd run it first 3 weeks of flower, then swap in the hps. just my 2c
