Hey Noob, aren't you Hal?
Either way I wanted to give this thread a bump. It was this thread that actually got me to join ICMAG.
I have been an outdoor grower for many years and was looking for a way to spread out my harvest times so I didn't have the logistical nightmare I do now with everything being ready for harvest at once. I started reading through ICMAG to find strains with good bag appeal, strong potency and that would be done earlier that my own custom strain that is ready by September 14 @ 44 degrees N latitude. I was very curious of the autoflowing strains but leery of their ruderalis genetics and the potency issues that come with them. This thread has opened a whole new world of possibilities for me for my outdoor grows as well as indoor for shits and grins.
I have always grown from seed and have found their vigor to be leaps and bounds over clones I have used in the past. Also, starting from seeds you can blast them with light from the get-go. My seedlings are 18" from a 400w MH 24 hours a day from day one. The blue from the MH and the intensity of having the light so close really keeps the plants short and stout. I think this is where a lot of people make the mistake of babying their seedlings too much; unlike clones, seedlings can be blasted with light right away and the first week or two of light make all the difference in the end.
I do want to do a hybrid of this method indoors because I think you have something going here. While my method won't be a true 12/12 grow, it will use the benefit of seed vigor and eliminate the need for having to keep mother plants; those are two big plusses IMO! My hybrid method would require a small separate room where the plants would be started from seeds about a month before you would harvest the flower room. I would start them under intense light from a MH 24/0 until the last seed poked its head, then reduce the light one hour per day until 12/12. After one month you would have stout plants with seed vigor that are sexed and ready for the flower room or to be planted outside after the summer solstice. The best of both worlds in my book!
Anyway, thank you for the awesome thread! I have gleaned a lot of knowledge I can incorporate into my own methods. I am sorry for all the A-holes you had come on this thread and bash your method without even trying it. Where is all the love?...lol
Keep it green, Noob!
