12/12 From Seed: A Different Way To Grow

looking forward to see it atm

What do you think about a week of veg ?
I find that giving the seedlings 4-6 days veg time doesn't really slow things down at all and most of the hazy varieties show sex as early as just over two weeks after breaking the soil.

Well, I tried this method after reading this thread, and found it very interesting. Grew out 4 bagseed plants in 2 liter soda bottles after 1 week veg under CFL's.

The nugz were smaller (as was the yield), but denser. And the small footprint would allow for many more plants in a tight setup. I noticed that they got a bit top-heavy, so I "found" a bunch of those red plastic cases (the kind you see behind most 7-11's) that hold 8 bottles each, and that did the trick. Plus you can stack them up to even out the canopy.

Overall, they did fine, and I liked the shortened growing time. There was no root bind, and all you need to do is water more often (due to small container size). The plastic soda bottles and the cases to hold them were free, so it lends itself well to ghetto growing.

So from what you are all saying it is not clear... Is it a good thing or something just fun to experiment with?

It's a great thing as long as you have the right genetics(sativa/sativa dom) for it.

12/12 good knowledge

12/12 good knowledge

i came across this thread in the fall of last year, i was hooked , such a new concept to me that i followed every lead speecees, atm,no mercy, hal, anyone and anything about 12/12 i read studied and ran it thru the old head. so pretty soon i had a good understanding of the idea as a whole. thank goodness as my grow from winter 08/09 turned out a disaster at christmas when 4 of 5 turned out male. solution:
start 10 nirvana k2 in 10 cups
promix seedling/wrm dirt/perlite
transplanted 9 plants to 18gal plastic tub
floro t12s 10 days then 400hps
today 4 females
1 52" tall looks like a pine tree
2-43" going to be 1 bud
3-36
4-31

At first I thought that too, but once you got it all going well even Indicas work pretty well

Its a fun method , but also very good
Check this grow , 12/12 from the start :

I started a new 12/12 grow with about 100 seeds

I have selected and removed the males and less developed females "The survival of the fittest" .
Very efficient to start with lots of seeds ,this prevents lighting empty spaces .

Atmos....can you describe how you created your bed...and what you are using for medium...and stuff?

Hi atm

I 've never tried 12/12 from seed with pure indicas but I have to say I worked quite few times with indica dominant genetics and they didn't respond as well , not bad actually..but these same strains grew better with a bit of veg , yielded noticeably more and within almost same timeframe . With sat dominant or at least 50-50 sat / ind varieties I get better results . From my experience the best results come from sat dominant varieties that have at least a 9-10wk 'actual' flowering cycle . Did you try any 100% indis yourself?

I completely agree that its very efficient to start with many seeds as you can do some heavy selection which in turn ensures that you are growing only the biggest , fastest most vigorous plants and you get more consistent results pretty much like growing clones where all plants are good in terms of vigor yield , uniformity etc . Last time I started with 80 seeds (some where different strains) , got around 45 females (by day ~ 15-22), culled 20 or so and kept the 25 best of them. Got around a gram/watt within 70-75 days or so.

Your new grow looks good , looking forward to the results . Any details would be appreciated

good luck and keep up the good work

My bed is a layer of about 10 -12 cm of hydrodensa wich is a new grow medium . It has a lot more weight than other hydro mediums and can not contain as much water as rockwool or seramis . But it is better in sucking up and spreading water than the classical light weight 'clay' balls

I have never done 100% Indicas with this method . I do know guys that grow Indica dom. strains this way . They do very well .

good real F1 hybrides are a good choice for this method by the way, they are more stable
