12/12 From Seed: A Different Way To Grow

I want to try the 12/12 method out but im unsure of the best way to start them off. I want to run a sog using 3 gallon pots so if i cracked the seeds in a wet tissue should i put them then straight into the 3 gallon? I want to use a 600 so would that be on 12/12 before the seeds even break through the surface?

Glad to see others trying out the 12/12 method. Depends on the soil you are using but I do as breeders recommend and just place the seed directly into the soil. I myself use pure coco, place my seeds in the middle and within 5 days all have popped up. It's the only way I have achieved 100% germination rates. Haven't been doing 12/12 method to long but I now have popped 52 seeds total doing direct soil and I have 100% with all 52 seeds all being from varies breeders. I don't cover them with a dome. My tents temps run 75-80 with 50-60% humidity during germination. You can give them 18/6 the first couple of days if you wish(I do) and yes the lights should be on from the start.

If you do drop the seeds into direct soil you have to make sure to mist the top of each seed everyday with a spray bottle. Depending on your soil because some medium stays wet longer than others you may not have to mist the pots for 2 or 3 days. If you don't you will not have 100% germination rates because it's very important to keep check on how wet/dry the top of the medium is. When I say mist I mean atleast 6-8 inches away from the soil with as fine of a mist as the bottle can get. I mist each pot when needed with about 100 ml of water mixed 2/3 RO water with 1/3 tap water. If you use straight RO water you will need to add Calmag to your water. If you need any other tips or have other questions don't hesitate to ask. I will try to help as much as possible. Hope this helps anyone.

I will be using coco too, how many days do you have the lights on 18/6 for? Until the first true leaves appear? What light do you have on them in that picture?

I leave mines on for 2 weeks, 1 week being after they all popped out of the soil. MH is running in the photo. I use MH for the first 3-4 weeks of growth then switch to my HPS. I also have LEDs running on each side of my main light setup with a 4 foot T-5 next to each LED length wise.

Example of my setup incase my wording was confusing.

At the top of my tents [T-5] [LED] [MH/HPS] [LED] [T-5]

Your setup all back to back like that is how I'm going to do mine, only I'm going to use fems so I don't lose any. Sog 12/12 from seed has to be the most productive way of doing it I think.

I want to try this style of 12/12 from seed for my next grow. I have a space here with 2x 600mh/hps. I have a bunch of fem beans for the run. I will do this in beds full of soil, the beds are 4'x3'. If I follow ur guidance of a 2 weeks of pre veg, how plants coan i fit in such beds? I'm thinking 35.

They do turn out very nicely in the end I must say. Glad too see others doing this method. Good thing about fems is that you never lose any(unless it's a dud)I would have to agree. Some seeds however aren't available in fem form yet. Plus a lot of Sativas never finish at the same time so I can replant another faster 12/12 so it will finish around the same time if not faster. Indicas work great for this or fast flowering Sativas like C99. The Oldtimer Hazes/Green Hazes take anywhere between 16-24 weeks so that's tons of time to replant. I will/can have grown 3 Indicas within that time but worth the time and effort. Just depends on the individual and what strains you are looking to smoke.

I have never ran big beds of soil for multiple plants for 12/12. That's hard to judge as some may not grow as large as others due to one taking over more root space then the others. I am not a fan of running a big bed such as that because you can't really replant other seeds to keep the 12/12 going without having to stop. Maybe someone that has experience with big beds of medium can step in and clarify better on the advantages and disadvantages on so.

No worries I like to experience

One bed will be full of s1 seeds that come from the same mama, the other will be a multicrop jungle. I need two quads per plant to reach my goals. I might give them 10/15 days of veg to help.

Normal size for 20 days at 12/12?

Normal size for 20 days at 12/12?

Hi to all,

Amnesia Haze with 20 days at 12/12.
400w HPS
Coconut (ec 1.2 - ph 5.8)

Normal size?
I think they are too small to take 20 days.

I'm afraid that soon want to bloom, and have very dwarf plants.

Anyone can comment? The size is too small for 20 days?

Maybe it's good idea to put 24/0 or 6.18 for two to three weeks and then back to 12-12?

Ya... That's too small for 21 days.
It won't bloom until there are alternating nodes and pre flowers everywhere.
Give it more nitrogen and watch it take off.
How far is the light?
You should add more coco to the pot to support & bury the stem.

The light is about 50cm and the temperature is 29th in points. I can not place more closely, because then I have excess heat (+ 30 °).

I think it's a problem, but I can not put more light until it colder.
The pots I want to change them when the stems are stronger now 3 liter pots, pans after 7 liters.

Nitrogen is acceptable, EC 1.2 growth with fertilizer (canna).

I think the lack of light has been a problem for development, because of the temperature., I put 1000w, but then would die of heat.

I'm going to change the cycle to 18/6 right now, I can not grow bonsai.

Something is wrong with your environment I'd say. Maybe that particular strain does not like 12/12 but more likely it is your environment which is off and that is causing slow growth.

Measure your temps at root level and during lights off. If you can hold your hand above your canopy for 30 seconds without feeling discomfort then it is not too hot.

I would say he has healthy plants doesnt need more nitrogen. Also ive grown plants 2ft tall in a solo cup with coco. Your problem IMHO is a lack of light. Light intensity has a direct correlation to speed of growth, if your light is too far you will get slow elongated growth. Considering all other factors given i would say get your temps in check and lower that damn light:biggrin:

Also try backing off the ec a bit, maybe .8 and see how they do, cant force food on them in low light situations they cant use it you get build-up.

At 3weeks 12/12 my seeds have been topped/cloned and will be sexed within a week.
I'm feeding them 1.5 as soon as they get taken out of the cups they sprout in.
Plenty of n & k, kinda light on p.
Usually at least 4ft from 600 without stretching.
Sealed with co2 tho
