mites

everything in bloom is fine, but goddamit.

saw little moving specks that were squishable. on the two white widow clones i was gifted. i pulled the two (haven't killed 'em yet just out of the closet), did a frantic search on the other four youngin's in veg, and didn't see any white specks on the others or moving parts. do you think there is a chance that the mites liked the widow better than the super ice and chrystal and stayed on the widow? (i know the seed place said these two strains are "disease and pest resistant" if thats worth anything.) i can spray the whole thing with neem if i have to...

i know you are out there reading this man, so i won't get beligerent, but fuk me... you better check your crop and make sure everything is cool. the specks were there from the beginning, i remember seeing them... i just didn't know it was anything to worry about. so take care your girls

fuk they are on the other plants in veg. time to learn about spider mites. :fsu:

ok i made some tobacco juice (thx goyakla), sprayed em down heavy with a super fine mist. i even took one little bastard to my coffee table, sprayed him, and watched like a vengeful roman god under the 100x scope while he drew his last breath. it was satisfying, watching him die... :sasmokin: lol hopefully they all kick it.

also, if you notice all the edits on my post its because i finally learned how to upload full size pics and i went back and removed the "-thumb" from the html. thats it. laters

Could also be thrips. My plants looked exactly the same but with no visible little creepy spiders. When I had spider mites last grow they seemed to be on the underside of the leaves alot. I also had spotting for a good amount of time and didn't see it as a problem till much later. I used Shultz Insect Spray (says kills on contact) Kicked ass on the spider mites and seemed to do the job on the thrips. also says its safe to use till harvest.

Yeah definitely could be thrips. I've got them too - they're not bothering my flowering plants much but my mother plants are taking a hit. I started treating with soapy water but I'll use pyrethrum or neem if it doesn't work.

I love your bud shots, they're looking so good.

rob457, blackone: thanks guys for the help (thanks blackone for the pic compliments!). i put one of the little dots under the microscope and was able to identify it as a spider mite (compared to pics on the web) for sure. at least its not a long, thrip looking thing...

i'm hoping the tobacco juice will do the trick, but just in case i'm going to the store monday for some neem oil. the two widow clones had em bad, but they are history now and my chrystal and super ice seem to just have a few on the underside, but no visible white specking yet. so hopefully no real damage has occurred.

glad i learned this lesson early on: inspect whatever comes into your garden!!!

i picked the little bastards off one by one, then gave em a second shower of tobacco juice, followed later by a fresh rinse.

and to get back to the fun stuff, here's some more bud pics (first two are Chrystal, the rest Super Ice i believe...):

SugabearII: thanks bro and welcome aboard! just in time, chop is comin' up. :rasta:

SteveGreen: glad to see you checked out my grow, and thanks for the compliments. i'm just getting the picture/closeup thing down, so i've been having fun taking the pics. glad to know i'm not the only one who thinks they are cool. lol

well, after all the reading i did on spider mites, i decided to scrap the veg room completely and start over. luckily my cloning tray is on a shelf four feet above the veggies, so the borg stayed off 'em as far as i can tell (knock on wood). i scrubbed with tobacco juice, lysol with bleach, and windex (plexi glass and mylar). now in veg: one chrystal, four super ice, one jack herrer (unsexed). have two more super ice in rooting tray still, but that's it. whew.

total losses amounted to the two widow clones they arrived on, two chrystal plants and two super ice plants all about two weeks rooted (LST'd, damn nice looking plants [dammit]). thrown away in a guerilla dumpster, never to feel the fattened night, or the sticky weight of flowers. never to realize that final bowl, helping people feel better. right now as i type this, they are breathing their dying breaths in a goddam trash can, not stretching out in bloom kicking ass and taking names, but rotting in a fuking dumpster, because i took in shit from someone else's garden without inspecting it. not to mention tainted my friend that i hooked up with clones, a fellow patient who had managed to get about twenty clones going off the two i gave him... he also took the third widow clone. now all of them are borg'ed up. he is going to spray and try to get rid of them, but fuk.

i know i'm probably screwed, but as long as there is a snowball's chance in hell i can eliminate the devils all together, by scrapping all plants that were in contact with them, i'm going to try. it will set me back two weeks, but fuk it two weeks is nothing if it spares me mites. if not oh well, it is what it is and it won't stop me from growing. but wish me luck nonetheless...

thanks for the attempt, steve! :muahaha:

well i smoked a fat bowl, and then took some bud pictures and hung out with the girls in bloom a bit so i feel much better. lol as soon as icmag will let me upload them, i'll share the pics. not bad. think i'm getting the photo thing down at least.

and on we grow! :canabis:

Khaleel,
Fuking great shots man. Your photo skills are coming along just as fast as your growing skills.

Those damn mites are a bugger, but I wish you would have tried to keep those WW girls. I was looking forward to them....selfish I know, but goddamnit :D lol

Mighty frosty in there, sure your Peruvian friend wasn't throwing his powder around? j/k...lol :D

I got another hint for ya, get that Diatomaceous Earth. It really rocks the house, and non toxic to boot....for all you organic fans out there, you K? I swear by it, the organic that is. Here is Nite Tigers thread about it, a good read...HERE

Beat those bastards, and keep beating them. Sometimes you just have to nuke them...in an environmentally friendly way...lol...:D

Keep up the great work, cant wait for the final harvest.

Stay safe bro, and fly free.....

hey,
it looks like you're getting pretty damn close to harvest ,good job and nice pics too.
sucks about the spidermites, in one of your pics your cat is around the plants and cats can carry a bunch of bugs if they go outside. For all the shit i hear about nirvana stains yours look like the bomb, i spent 250 on 20 beans last month and my girls don't look as good as yours, keep it up.
peace

hey mtlgrower, thanks for the compliments. got a little nug drying right now to check it out. almost ready. :joint:

yeah i thought about the cat. its possible, for sure. but since i remember seeing the white specks on the gifted clones when i put them in my veg room (wonder what those are? i thought, not bothering to take a pic and post it or just read a bit in the infirmary, or even just look under the leaf :nono: ), and since those clones were the heaviest affected by far, and since both my cats have been confined to my apartment for about three months now... i don't know. i suppose it would be best for me to just let everything go. ohmm..... lol

god i'm ready to light a bowl of this herb. hope all is well. :bandit:

haha don't worry, bearded-one. i can get more clones any time, though i will probably just do seeds from here on out. besides, i like watching 'em come along from the get-go. i will most certainly tackle the whitest of the widows at some point in the not-so-distant future. :canabis:

Mighty frosty in there, sure your Peruvian friend wasn't throwing his powder around? j/k...lol :D

YEAAAAAAY-OH. YEAAAA-AAAY-OHHH. Daylight's come, and, i can't go to sleep. :spank: :noway: :pimp3: hahaha

thanks for the tip. i haven't crossed over to organic just yet (decided to go cheapest/easiest for my first grow), but i'm sure my quasi-ideaological conscience will insist on it soon. i replied before i read the link lol, but i'll check it out. and i suppose i might be in denial if i think i won't ever have to deal with pests, but just like getting a real job, delaying the inevitable in this case doesn't just serve a purpose, it IS the purpose. haha but seriously if i can get rid of 'em for now by just tossing a few replaceable clones, then key cera cera. i'll read up on the Diatomaceous Earth (sounds like a killer name for a band btw).:smoker:

Keep up the great work, cant wait for the final harvest.

Roger that, my friend. on pure water right now. i got rid of the Karo Lite idea. just didn't feel right about it, and i noticed some chem burn after i a couple waterings, even though the PPM is down around 600. think molasses is worth doing these lasts couple weeks? i could use the extra weight, but i don't want to sacrifice quality... I'm pulling one in less than a week, seven in around two weeks... then three more a week after that, then the LST'd girls after that. i'll see about a good pic of her, but you should see the chrystal right now, in week six of bloom. she looks like trichome-packed dynamite. a lot of it. :sasmokin:

laters beard!
