not either of those, but miracle grow started making a certified organic soil mix, and is 1/4 the price of ocean forest.

If you wan to go organic at HD you will have to buy MG Organic soil or make your own mix with the different composts they have. They have a bunch so it is definiltey do-able.

I use Sta-Green Nursery Mix which is not organic. Its completely organic other than the little green fertilizer balls in it....and its cheap too which is nice.

i think i'll this stuff a try. maybe mix in 40% worm castings, 30% vermiculite, and some dolomite. i'm going to use liquid karma, ff big bloom, and ff tiger bloom.

How much money for How much soil ? It's 1/4 of the price, is it also 1/4 of the size?

16 quarts for those small bags? Around 4.8 gals... whereas OF is around 10 gals... if you order online can get it as low as 12.50 a bag.

Just something to consider.

I need to check this out... it would also be one less trip to the hydro store carrying out OF...

the MG organic in my opinion needs to be amended for drainage HEAVILY. It does not drain well. at all. Not sure how organic it is. It has time release fertilizer in it.

I been using the Garden Soil and I have mixed opinions on it. Just make sure to add tons of Perlite, it gets heavy on the roots and really fuxored up 8 of my VBS plants. I was able to save 1 but its in sad shape. I am finally able to try Fox Farm soils and will make a decision on which to use.

Just make sure you add alot of Perlite and your other goodies.

Hello all,

My HD carries a brand called Kellogg's Patio Plus...100% organic.

I am using it at the moment...Seems to be doing great now.

I first started to grow with the Kelloggs but had newbie issues. Went back to the Kelloggs fromt eh ffof and I am thinking I am seeing a difference...the Kelloggs lasts about a week longer and seems (this grow) to produce a richer darker green in the young plants.

But a few plants grown in the stuff is not a screaming endorsment I know.

It was about half the price of the FFOF at around 5 bux a bag.

Good luck

PS: Its a chicken shit soil so it is a bit hot.

holy hell
I have used MG organic soil many times and I like it
but don't mistake it for the MG organic potting soil.. not as good

but NOTHIN beats home-turned compost mixed with sand, perlite, and store bought composted manure imo.. that shit is rich and the plants love it
