yeah, im talking about the MG organic soil not the MG organic potting soil. its in the big green bags instead of the small white ones.

stretch- there's nowhere to get ffof around here anymore so 50 lb bags (with all organic ingredients listed and no time-release ferts) are $4. im not sure what it translates to in gallons. :chin:

It's $10.50 a bag for FFOF out here, and I get 10% discount so after tax I just call it $10/bag.

$10! Wish I were you....
I can't even locate a bag of this stuff in all of Canada!

Hope you like the soil, everyone seems to rave about the stuff :)

home depot has a jiffy seed start mix but is probably just as good for the whole growth. IT contains peat moss and vermiculite with added lime for ph balance. I also added about a third perlite which i think they have there walmart has it as well. Wallmart has quite a variety of growing goodies.

damn, $10 a bag for ffof?!?!?! lucky!

walmart probably has the MG organic soil as well. last year, i actually bought a bunch of safer brand organic fungicides and miticides at walmart. they were about half the price they go for in the hydro shop. yesterday i saw miracle grow organic choice also has there own bone meal and blood meal! :)

well boys i transplanted my seeding in MG-Organic potting soil mixed with 30 % perlite and a week later their starting to turn light green with purple stems from what i can tell this stuff like all MG products sucks. All it is sticks and twigs and bark. I guess i should have added bone and blood meal and some lime. At lest FF would have gave me 3 weeks before they show any signs of a nute deficiencies. It dont even hold water well i water heavy last nite with a lil Flora Nova added and this mourning all the 6 oz dixie cups was bone dry. My compost i made 2 years ago is better than this crap. looking inside the bag all i see is sticks and bark with very little soil if this is what i wanted i could have gone out in the woods and scraped the ground and got the same dam thing for free. but i am stuck with it so any guys have any idea on how to inprove it all i got is perlite ,bone, blood meal and lime a lil used Fox Farm soil and some old compost i made 2 years back. Not sure how much of each to mix up so i can transplanted then out of the dixie cups but i need to do some thing fast or i am going to lose the hole crop. I may move 2 into my SWC but i dont know which are female as of yet. The way my luck runs they would end up males.

thats interesting. did you get the garden soil or the potting soil? mine didnt have sticks and bark in it.

in my opinion, mg organic choice needs to be heavily amended. its cheaper and easier for me to just buy it and add what it needs. i always add blood meal and bone meal to whatever soil im using.

my last grow I switched from the mg organics to the premier pro mix ultimate for containers and had great results. At the local nursery the pro mix was only 9.95 for 1.5 cf.

Wow, surprised no one has mentioned to get some Black Kow and their Mushroom Compost (the two varities are a general shroom compost, white bag, and a Black Velvet compost, yellow bag). That stuff is great for organics. I believe that Lowes carries the Chicken Manure as well. All of these are already composted and have a great loamy texture. The MG Organic needs to be heavily ammended for drainage and for simple NPK values. Some Espoma organic solutions and some vermaculite/perlite should do the trick. Also, Espoma has the Dried Blood additive which is much better than simple Blood Meal (think NY strip to sirloin). It is a decent starter soil (MG Organic) but will not last you in the long run. Also, some HD carry a product called Soil Doctor that is good in moderation. I highly recommend you try and get some Black Kow products cause they work great and are organic to boot.

Happy Toking :bandit:

I just finished up a soil batch yesterday and used the MG Organic as a part and I think it will work just fine being ammended with 2 higher quality soils (FFOC and HP) as well as further individual ammendments (silica, bone meal, sand, etc...) I don't have anything planted in it yet so I'll have to wait to see actual results.

local hydro sells 4 different Promixs'; $45 each for 3c.f. :yoinks:

mushroom compost works great too but for some reason it's not very reliably found around here. With soo many other soils, mixs and options that are available here it's hard to justify shipping a bag of it.

I use the mg organic choice potting mix with some mg perlite in it and so far my seedlings are doing good (been in there for 3 weeks), I recently bought some mg organic choice bone/blood meal but I haven't used it yet, I'll post back once I do.

the MG organic in my opinion needs to be amended for drainage HEAVILY. It does not drain well. at all. Not sure how organic it is. It has time release fertilizer in it.

I was about to say the same thing.I add a shit load of perlite to it otherwise it takes forever for the soil to eventually dry out.Actually I've been experimenting with this soil as of late.FoxFarm is gettin' way too expensive to keep useing on a regular basis(not to mention it's been causing me problems in flower). Actually I'm playing with a mix righ now:
1/2 MG organic choice(container gardening)
4-5 cups of chunky foxfarm perlite
I use just the MG for veg
For flowering I'm useing:
MG organic choice
Foxfarm perlite
Worm castings
At the bottom of the pots I'm putting some F.F.O.F. for the flowering nutes, and then just water with plain water.
So far I have to say this mix is working out pretty well, plants stay nice and green and don't look sickly or like they are lacking, although I'm considering adding some micros and Mag..I'll tell you how the final product comes out in about 2 monthes.
