The sad thing is, you're right. There were entirely different plants, in different parts of the states that smelled like skunk.beancounter said:There were/are different versions, plants, strains for sure, but they still had one thing in common, they actualy smelled/tasted like a skunk...

strainwhore said:Because you and I smoked different plants that were probably not cured correctly, that came in nice - tight - 110 degree - bricks in a truck, our opinions of RKS will differ.
THATS WHAT I SAID! Dig out the old seed stash guys!smokeymacpot said:we all like the same thing, so lets help each other out and maybe make some good friends out of it.
Listen man, a lot of people call any kind of weed, skunk. It came to me in the early 80's and 90's mexi-brick-weed style. It smelled pretty damn skunky, whatever the weed. I don't know how you scored your stash. Maybe in the 80's you had ties to columbian cartel who grew you good skunky sativas. I dont know. I dont care. What I call skunk is different than what you call skunk...Time2Unite said:no rks came this way though strainwhore, thats what i was trying to tell you earlier in the thread.....or am i wrong here? i never seen any mexi brick style rks in my life....anyone else? your the first person i've ever heard compare mexi style brick weed to rks.
To this point I agree. Sam does have a responsibility, albeit not a great responsibility to the general populace to either release or let someone else work on and release the Skunky Skunk.smokeymacpot said:well i think he should grow what he suspects to be RKS, get them seeded and send out samples or sell them and see what feedback he gets. if its good then the strain should be repopulated.
but he said he doesnt want to do it because he doesnt need the sales. the sales arent important, what is important is that people are able to get a type of weed that they like. if i had rare seeds and a breeder wanted to repopulate a strain then i would gladly help.
we all like the same thing, so lets help each other out and maybe make some good friends out of it.

At least you remember them smelling like skunk, I remember them smelling like skunk, but you and I don't have the same sense of smell.
You're idea of RKS could in fact be VERY different than my version of RKS.
Because you and I smoked different plants that were probably not cured correctly, that came in nice - tight - 110 degree - bricks in a truck, our opinions of RKS will differ.

Different plants. Different highs. Different people. Different time. Holy Grails are hard to find.
BudZad7 said:Hi All ! I can only guess the age of a few of you all, because you mention past strains with knowledge of them...45 yr olds and up...lol
Most that do know of the past strains that are still around in the area of NoCal, and southern Oregon know what I mean...now I'm talkin about 50--
65 years old we know about the REAL SKUNK you could not travel with it ..
People got busted left and right because of the skunk smell there were names
like Ed bud, Tiller Killer, and good 'ol road kill skunk, then breeders bred that smell out and made them fruity smelling and the rest is history......Peace!
strainwhore said:But even in my garden now I have a few strains that I would describe as RKS. A tester from Memy Selfandi, Mental Floss, Golden Skush, a bagseed plant that isn't a big yielder but is potent and I CAN ONLY DESCRIBE AS SKUNK. In fact that is my "Skunk". I market it as such to those select few that enjoy that type of smoke.
But how do I know if it is the RKS you want? And seriously, the dog yogurt thing was funny. Damn.
Peace
smokeymacpot said:i saw the comment about people buying skunk seeds expecting a real skunky weed.
yes thats correct i bought some super skunk hoping it would be really strong and really nice smelling, is that not the case??
Dude, I got dogs. Of COURSE I know what a real dead skunk smells like. Pungent and Acrid all at the same time. I'm saying, my "Skunk" bagseed smells like that. I cant stand trimming it. And the Mental Floss is very much the same nastyness, so is Memy's Test strain. The GS is a little sweeter. You got me there.Time2Unite said:do you live in an area where there are live skunks? you ever smelled one thats been hit by a car or sprayed something? thats what the rks smells like. basically that strong too....i love driving past a place where a skunk just got hit because thats the only way i get to smell rks.
beancounter said:About 10-15 yrs ago yes, you would find some real skunky weed, but the current SS has just gone the way of SK1, altho my SS was slightly more potent, and greasier tasting, the same sweet 'skunkness' was in there.
I wouldn't grow it again, but the weed was about 4-5th best outa the 20 seed strains i was growing at the time. It's jus not keeper material.
I would go with Master Kush or Hindu Kush, Godbud.. I hear there's some real stinky NYCD phenos but they're not super easy to find.
