problems with coco

hey guys, my girls are turnin lime green almost yellow on the top new growth. Cant seem to figure wats goin on. Here are the specs
Week 3 in veg
Canna A and B at 1.8 ec ph 6.1
Watering every 3 days.
room temp 78-80
rh is at 50

I thought that i was using to high of ec and had been watering with plain ph tap water the last 2 watering and it didnte seem to help but getting worst. Anyinfo would be greatly apreciated guys! also if you ned more info just tell me. Thanks Again.

you need to water every day ideally till some 10% run off.

the other question that comes to mind, did you flush your coco, before planting? did you soak the coco totally with pure phed water to start with?

if not, then you might need to flush the coco now.

GM:
1)I will start watering daily now, with this big pot will i have a chance of it getting overwaterd by watering it daily?
2) I did not flush the coco with plain ph water in the start. I thought that canna coco didnt need the flush and comes prebuffered? Also do you think that 1.8 ec the correct strength?

ahh cool you have canna coco? yes it's preflushed and buffered.

ec 1.8 would be high for most of my strains so early on, but if that's how you start, they normally adapt to it. but i think you'll find with regular watering those light colored bits will stop spreading. you could reduce the ec a bit too. you are still vegging right? for veg phase you are a bit high even for a heavy feeder. try 1.6 next watering and be sure to water until a bunch comes out the bottom. specially if you have not been watering till run off before.

thanks for the help man, ill try 1.6 for the next few waterings. Im plannin to veg these for a few more weeks, Do you think i can stick with canna a and b for veg? i had read that canna nutes were flower nutes. Also do you have any idea why i am getting those light colors?

guessing that the ec's a bit high and what with the drying out (which makes it go up further) its locking out nutes-some of the lower leaves on one of the pics looks a bit burnt too

and no-if the medium can drain freely then its virtually impossible to overwater

the A+B canna coco are totally cool for vegging too. i use it for mothers with nothing else except ph minus to keep it at 5.8 so yes you can use it. those light spots are from an imbalance occurring in your medium because it's not made to be watered like earth every 3 days or when the pot is light. coco needs watering every day, this insures that the conditions inside the coco are correct for the best root growth etc. as soon as one lets coco go dry there is salt build up, which causes problems.

what i would like to point out though, coco makes the plants grow like hydroponic plants. they can stretch from 2 to 4 times the hight they are at when you start 12/12. so it's best not to veg longer then 2 weeks in coco, not unless you are talking about a tree grow, even then one needn't go overboard with the veg phase. have a look at mojo's thread to see how much the plants continue to grow and stretch after you switch to 12/12.

Take some of that canna coco(out of the bag) and put it in a cup with RO water,
shake it around and let it sit for a few hours.

Test it with the PH/PPM pen

this is the only way to be sure you are not getting ripped from canna

I let my coco get pretty light before i feed it and so does everyone else I know. The method of watering till runoff is played, your just waterlogging the coco. Try watering a lot less and run an air stone in your nutrient.

Less than every 3 days? Thread author said he was watering every 3 days....

Yea, you can water every 6 hours and still use less water. Dont apply till its dry. As a matter of fact the less water you give them the more often you have to water them. From what ive read so far your idea of a good watering schedule is flooding the piss out of a plant every day and depriving the roots of oxygen.

watering them every 6 hours will bring more o2 to the roots than will watering every 3 days... thescientist I don't understand what you're saying, because my plants on drippers grow much faster being watered 5x a day than do my plants that are hand watered once a day.

might depend on the size of your pot

My current grow with 17litre pots i feed 4 times daily when i used 9 litre pots 6 feeds a day.

Larger pots like in my last grow 1 plant per light in 55litres of coco i tried to feeding 3 times aday but got alot of waste in 2nd, 3rd feeds and pots where too wet come lights off, so reduced to two larger waterings. 1 big feed 1hour after lights come on and second feed half of first feed amount 4 hours before lights off. At the end of the grow roots where in good condition and so was the coco.

like i have said before, there are many ways to skin a cat, same with getting a plant through to harvest. even in coco there are different approaches that work. although making it just work is not what we are talking about, we are trying to achieve the potential of the strains we are growing and that is a different story.

so just because your plants look healthy and green through their life, does not guarantee you that they are achieving their potential. cannabis is a weed after all and if conditions are not ideal, it will still make the best of things.

to really make the most of your coco, you need to water at least once a day,(of course pot size plays a part too.) even better if you have a drip setup and run it 4 times a day. coco is a hydroponic medium, if only you treat it that way. sure you can use it like you would earth, but then why bother with coco in the first place.
