Great news on the kiddo. Best to your family, Ozz.
As Willy would say, " turn off the lights, the party's over".

Thanks brother! Itā€™s been a long time coming, over three years of trying and a few false starts so we are extremely excited as we are only a few weeks away now.

Due to that I went ahead and chopped the hybrids, cleaned out the tent and got all the autopots, valves and lines cleaned up as well.

Transplanting them tomorrow šŸ¤˜šŸ¤˜šŸ¤˜

That's really touching to read @OZZ_ :gaga: so happy for you and the mum! Is a boy or a girl ?
Get ready for the most beautiful experience in life :huggy:

Thanks for starting a dedicated thread with your endeavours with Zamaldelica Breeders Pack, your previous run and selection with Panama Breeders Pack was epic! :hotbounce

I hope you find the type of parental plants you are looking for!

Thanks Dubi! It is a boy!! šŸ’ŖšŸ»:giggle:

We are both very excited although Mrs Ozz is ready for it to be over as sheā€™s very uncomfortable but thereā€™s only a short time left so everything is going great.

I hope to top my Panama hunt this go around as I think Iā€™ve improved my skills since then but we shall see! I have not had much practice with Sativas in the autopots but so far my 4x2 tent is doing well and the Malawi in there is loving it, now just passing 4th week of flower. Iā€™ll update in the Malawi thread accordingly when lights come on.

Zamaldelica clones have not all fully rooted, it was too cold and I delayed putting down a heat mat, so I went ahead and transplanted the original seed plants into the autopot system knowing Iā€™ll simply have to deal with much more stretch. To be safe I think I will give them only a very short veg time of 1-2 weeks then flip them even if they end up smaller ā€¦ that will be fine as I am simply trying to get a look at their phenotypic expressions on this run.

The Zamal A 75% plant is looking mean Iā€™m expecting big stretch on her just from looking at herā€¦.. although she is the only one that is a clone. The 5 other elite females are all original seed plants.

Will update when they have all recovered from transplant and have taken hold in the new medium.

I am starting them all off at a low 250 ppfd and 1.3 EC ā€¦. Will slowly ramp them up from there

Congrats on the upcoming BB!
I'd like to try zam out sometime. I will be watching.

Hey man! Been a long time! Hope all is well and thanks for the warm wishes!!

I should have some updated pics in a week or so, thereā€™s nothing to look at right nowā€¦. Since I decided to run the seed plants instead of clones I hacked them all the way back down to stubsā€¦. So now thereā€™s nothing to do but let them veg and recover.

In a week they should be ready to rock. šŸ¤˜šŸ¤˜šŸ¤˜

Zamaldelicas are still settling in after transplant, looking a little stressed but they are starting to perk up. I find it usually takes about 2 weeks from transplanting until they really dig into the medium and start taking off. I did go ahead and flip the res on yesterday though to get them developing roots that are adapted to the continuous bottom feed. Another week and we should be ready for initial pruning and LST

As a user of AutoPots, I understand well what you mean about the take off....
Congratulations, friend

Thank you! šŸ™šŸ™šŸ™

Did a first round of LST yesterday and after peeking in on them this morning before I headed off to work I was astonished at how fast some of them have rebounded.

Not only that but they seem to be picking up steam rapidly so Iā€™m going to go ahead and flip them tomorrow night making Wednesday the first day of flower.

Afterall this is a pheno hunt so I do not want them outgrowing the space, and these are seed plants (except for the Zamal A 75% plant which is a clone), so Iā€™m sure a fair amount of stretch will be seen.

Will get updated pics on Wednesday morning!

I like this setup a lot!!

Thanks Randy! Iā€™ve spent the last few years getting things dialed in and Iā€™m really liking the system.

Today is officially day 1 of 11/13.

I couldnā€™t wait any longer or risk them out growing the space. My panamas got absolutely huge in the same setup so I decided I donā€™t want to chance it.

GAME ON

Iā€™ll get updated pics sometime next week. Mrs OZZ is being induced tomorrow so we will be busy busy with the newborn!!!

Updates to come šŸ¤˜šŸ¤˜šŸ¤˜šŸ™šŸ™šŸ™

First round of training on Zamaldelicas is complete. Thereā€™s still a few branches that need chopped off to even out the tent in a proper fashion but Iā€™m going to let them recover for 3-4 more days then do another round of pruning. Being only 5 days into 11/13 thereā€™s plenty of time and Iā€™m exhausted as we just returned from the hospital with our new baby boy ā€¦.. so thatā€™s all thatā€™s getting done today! šŸ¤£šŸ¤£

Btw Iā€™m happy to report after a very trying four days in the hospital everyone is happy and healthy šŸ¤˜šŸ¤˜šŸ¤˜

Zamal A 75% ā€¦ā€¦ reallyā€¦. REALLY liking what Iā€™m seeing in this plant.

All the elite plants are looking great and getting settled into the autopots and they are fairly uniform ā€¦. but thereā€™s a few that differ from the others slightly. Namely Zamaldelica elite #1 for her extra vigor and taller more open structure and Zamaldelica #3 for her more nute sensitive nature and sheā€™s slightly more NLD than the others. #3 is the one that showed slight nitrogen toxicity early on as a seedling.

Zamaldelica elite #1

Update time

Day 7 - 11/13 on Zamaldelicas

Already throwing pistils?? I was expecting big stretch on these gals ā€¦. Itā€™s still early so maybe they will pick up in the next few weeks but so far stretch isnā€™t anything much at all **knock on wood**.

The primary purpose of this grow is to select a nice mother or two for further testing so itā€™s not the end of the world if they remain small to medium sized.

The Zamal A 75% (back left corner) is showing darker green coloration than the others along with the tiniest bit of leaf clawing on her largest fans whereas the others all look like they want more feed, so trying to run her on the same res as the others likely wonā€™t result in the best outcome for her. Since she is my ā€œfavoriteā€ so far in veg and Iā€™m developing a crush on her I think Iā€™m going to move her to the front left tray and shut her feed line off, then manually bottom water her tray by hand so I can reduce the nitrogen in her nutrient solution.

I absolutely LOVE my current nutrient line but itā€™s clear that with the more delicate tropical Sativas Iā€™ll need to make some adjustments to reduce nitrogen. Either that or simply be more rigid in what I run together, and make sure I only run plants from the same lines together at a time ā€¦. Which is fine by me. For example in this scenario I shouldnā€™t have put a Zamal A 75% in here with the eliteā€™s but instead ran just ran the elite line plants together.

Here you can see a cropped photo of the Zamal A 75% leaves and the slight clawing telling me to ā€œback off buddyā€

Hereā€™s a full shot of her, the Zamal A 75%, Iā€™ll give them all a week or two to get more stretch on them and get filled out more then pull them out for individual photo shoots

looking promising...

congratulations on your new son! Ozz Jr? lol
4 days yikes...

can you describe the difference between the zamal 75% and the zamaldelica?

Thanks brother!! Yeah we are definitely getting a crash course in child raising being our first but we are settling in.

As far as the Zamal A 75% vs the elite lineā€¦. Keep in mind I only popped just this one bean from the Zamal A 75% line. Also, itā€™s earlyā€¦.. Iā€™m sure more differences will come in time but so far she has a more open structure with longer internodes than *most* of the elite plants. She has a more aggressive serration pattern to her leaves (a buddy of mine commented that she looks mean lol), and she definitely has a lesser feed requirement than the elites.

Stem rub scents differ slightly as well with the elites being more pronounced fruity-mango-sweet carrot upfront center and the Zamal A has more of a chocolate - nut thing going on but then with the fruity-mango-sweet carrot thing still being present but weaker and in the background. Iā€™ll have to run all the Zamal A plants after this at some point soonā€¦. I really like what Iā€™m seeing in this plant and am very curious if itā€™s just a one off pheno or if the others will follow suit.

Itā€™s early though so no determinations can be made just yetā€¦.. on anything really.
