hey everyone

been a while since i could catch up over here.

yeah the pvc is 1" in the floor, and 2 inch coming thru the mom wall, and between the mom and flower room.

temps have never been an issue in this cab.

the elbows do block light plenty good between the mom and flower area.

this cab has run non-stop since it was built, and performing excellent

my current crop is at about 20 days flower, and is more TFB's and some super silver haze:

Hi, Yukon
The more I look at your box, the more I see how much thought you put into it. Excellent Job man! I know it was hard to sleep having such awesome ideas on your mind (at least I would). Absolutely a model stealth box. TOTALLY had the same-type stealth box vision and you've definately raised the bar. DAMN I LOVE THIS BOX!

Some easy questions if you don't mind,
Smell is an issue for me. I noticed you had two carbon-filters in one of the pics, were both of those necessary? If I could use just one, (with a slightly modified hood of course), do you think mounting it to the flower room ceiling and cycling through cooltubes have any cons?

Also, how did the Skunkyball strain yield for you? I may have missed it but I don't remember seeing anything in detail. How was grow in all? And the taste? How was the high?

Do you prefer the soil method?

What's your best strain so far. As far as quality and what the hell, quantity?

Thanks.

thanks for the props guys!

Ill def. keep this run updated w/ pics since i have SSH goin', and i havvent before.

as for the questions:

I only have 1 carbon scrubber for the cab it exhausts out the back of the utility room:

you may have been refering to this pic which might sorta look like (2) scrubbers, one part is the core the other part is the outside.

your thoughts on mounting it inside the flower room will work, but if you can it's better to exhaust into the scrubber...if you place it in front of your hood it can tend to pull tiny particles of carbon that fall on your lens or grow.

skunkyballs did good...yield was about average, the high was great....very narcotic.

i intended to do hydro w/ this cab, and i built the res and got all the pumps and gear and nutes...i didnt give it much of a chance, and after about a week, i put the plants into soil. i still might give hydro a go 1 day, but for now i like the simplicity of soil.

highest yielding strain so far has been a toss up between either blockhead, cherry chunk, and TFB....ive had sim. high yielding phenos of each of those.

favorite overall has been blockhead

hope that helps

Yea, I was trying to keep everything in the box but I see what you mean with the carbon residue. I'll pass on the charcoal flavored buds...

Referring to the top pic..... I see now that may be a muffler sandwiched in between the filter and exhaust joint?

Awesome thread... I have a closet that's 85" long x 22" deep x 60" high and I've been looking around for a good stealthy design to mimic. I'm really liking this one, I will probably build the cabinet a little easier. You really look like you knew what you were doing... I've never tried to build anything like this, but I have put together my fare share of Ikea products so I think I'm good.

I have a question about lighting. I have a 400watt MH ballest, will it run a cab of this size too hot?
Also, I haven't seen this question brought up but could someone use a 300w MH bulb in a ballest made for a 400w bulb?

I have two 250w HPS lights but they are huge. I have pictures of them in my gallery.

Yeah dude, I was thinking it was a muffler too. I am so building one of these! Shame, it's too late in the night for a Home Depot run.

looks very good. how do you like the end product of soil buds compared to the dwc buds? did you notice a yield difference?

Yukon,

Don't know if you missed this or you simply chose not to answer (which is fine. it's your thread) but, on the chance that it just slipped by, I'll ask again.

I notice you use a squirrel cage in your cab and an inline in your closet. Any particular reason? In terms of quiet and product life span, how do they compare? If you bought a fan now for a new NGB or C13 style cab, which way would you go?

I'm especially interested in answers that deal with stealth/low noise levels.

Thanks.

i never completed a hydro run...when i had hydro going, i got sick of the monitoring and maintenance, so i transplanted them to soil.

i do still wanna do a hydro run, but i dont see it anytime soon.

ive had hydro buds of course, and to me organic soil tastes better

hey man sorry i didnt answer that, i thought i did and i try to answer everyones q's

i used the squirrel cage in my cab because i already had it on hand. I dont have a single problem w/ it, and it does its job.

now if i was to do it again i'd get a vortex like i have for my closet.

i'd get the vortex or other inline for the one simple reason that you can use them w/ a speed controller, and you cant w/ a sq. cage.

in my closet i use a 6'' vortex....for a cab i'd go w/ a 4"

hope that helps

Thanks, that helps a lot. For stealth reasons the inline was the wrong choice for me and now I know the squirrell cage isn't either. Saves me $100, too.

hey "ray2kay"...thanks for the props!

I have considered making a sim. version, altho not so heavy-duty (basicly changing some of the panel materials)...something that could sell, work, and ship for less than what this cab could ship/build for.

I wouldn't ever sell one to someone directly.

I have a hydro shop that wants me to build cabs that they'll let me sell on consignment, and maybe turn into a mass purchase, but I'd have to get the price wayyyyy down on my end.

this one cost me a bit over $600 in materials, and Thats not even counting the cost for my time, and my time is VERY VALUABLE.

it's obviously paid for itself many times over :headbange

I have a cpl nice nightstands that i can make into 150watt cabs (sim to mtnjohns) and they are already built i just have to do the mods....and those only cost me $10 -$20 bucks from the thrift stores.

I wish i could just make some and sell 'em, there is prolly a bigger market than i know....maybe i'll work on something.

def. thanks for the intrest!

Inspiring cabinet dude, seriously. I'm actually going to be building something very similar and trying to run a perpetual scrog under dual 250w HPS with blue and UV-B LED lights. Your thread has been so helpful with forming ideas on how to build this thing. So I guess all I wanted to say was thank you. I'll definitely be following your grows and hopefully I'll have something to contribute soon also!

Thanks again for the inspiration man! :rasta:
