Yo

Just found this thread... will read it very soon but I'd like to share my biggest desapointment... Mr Nice from SSB... Had it in cuttings but still don't worth the hype arround it, just a strong indica. Then several bagseeds but I grow them knowing what they could give :)

I think that unless it is a high quality clone that comes from kick ass genetics, people should stick with new strains that were created in the last 2 years, and avoid beans from strains that were made more then that time unless you are prepared to buy 2 or more packs just to find the right bean, well one that at least germinates!

Personally i feel that any strain that is over 2 years the seed companies should drop the prices down 50% the original price, they had 2 years to make top dollar for their starins now its time to drop the price since the seeds germ rate and quality has dropped as well.

I'm pretty sure the seed companies produce fresh seeds every year. If a strain won a cannabis cup in 1997 it doesn't mean that seeds you buy from this strain are 10 years old.

Vod, well unless they used the exact same male and the exact same female to produce those beans then its false advertisement because the strain isnt the same no more.

And how do you imagine one female to produce all the seeds the world buys? How many kilos of seeds do you want a female to produce?

I don't think that the "immediate offsprings of plant A and plant B" is a good definition of strain anyway, but if you want to always use the same plants as parents, it's not very hard to perpetuate their clones for years, so...

I'm just curiouse what a concept in your head made you think what you think.

sour diesel..... 20 min high........ too bad it tasted pretty good.

Id agree, i scored a zip of diesel last year, and after the 3rd day the entire novelty wore off. Diesel is one of those strains you can only smoke 1-2 times a week until it gets boring and short lived.

Mabey its the skunk in it.

Okay well if a breeder is really looking into breeding thru vigarous selection process, he would make clones of his selected mother and father and make a wack of beans from the selected parent plants. 1 mother plant can produce 1000s of beans if openly polinated from the same male, I can make 20 clones of the same mother and leave them in the room with that one male thru out the flowering period and end up with over a million seeds.

I dont know if a breeder expects 150 plus dollars for 10 beans then maybe he should tke the effort in doing this exact process, then he should do test grows to distiguish phenos and get smoke reports, so when he does market the beans, he is marketing them for what they really are, and that he has enough so that in 6 years from now if I the buyer wants this strain he still hs the exact same beans that he originally marketed.

...well unless they used the exact same male and the exact same female to produce those beans...
Professional Seed breeders generaly tend to keep and maintain (Mama &) Papa plants for many, many years either via cloning and/or the freezing of the pollen of the seed-batch specific parent plants...

What traits are passed on by the male and female plants?

Boy this thread is getting pretty long...back to the subject at hand...

POK Hindu Kush x Big Bud, some years back, was my most disappointing strain.

Jack the Ripper from Subcool sucks ass...****en Subcool says its a kickass strain and is listed as one of his best strains...haha....the high was so mild i almost didnt feel it. I grew JTR next to Skunk #1, and Sk1 kicked ass compared to JTR.

Sensi Hashplant - Just because I only got 2 seeds to sprout out of a pack and both were males.

Reeferman's Potent Purple - I grew a couple of these out (culled from the best plants out of the 10 I vegged) and they both hermied on me. The smell and taste was not to my liking and the smoke was very mild.

Reeferman's Red Congo - These yielded great, but the smell, taste, and stone were nothing special - certainly not up to the price and the hype.

Reeferman's "William's Mango"

I popped 12 beans, all popped within 3 days

had 8 females out the lot, every single one of them Hermied , 6 hermied out within a month of 12/12. The two that showed hermie at about week 5 -6 finished off the cycle but the taste was absent, the high was mild & boring. The scent was nice (citrusy) during flowering but vanished when dryed and cured.

Weak Sauce at best

yeah...but why spend 50 Euros on JTR and try your luck finding a good pheno if you can get something like Skunk that kicks JTR's ass. And Skunk 1 is such a common strain...so i dont see whats so special about spending 50 bucks on some weak ass seeds...actually i never read good things about TGA strains.....

Bad Cannabis(and a lil good)..

Bad Cannabis(and a lil good)..

Well lets see..
BC bud depot:I have not so much knowledge about these guys.

Dutch Passion:Their WW sucked more than any sucked strain ever sucked..lol!(its over 5 years ago,I dont know how the strain they have today is).
I love their Brainstorm tho (Hempstar).

Nirvana:A few of my friends has grown Nirvana strains, and not one of them was descent(roughly said).Enormous difference on plant species.I have only tried NLxBB from Nirvana, and it was not so good.Extreme differences again.Weak.

Seedsman:
I have grown his Skunk#1 in my last harvest, and it seems there are plenty of resin, but I think the weed smells of onion.Im going to try to smoke it one off these days.

Sensi:
I tried their Hawaian Indica once, and that was a big disappointment.Lack of potens, and strange taste.Very "green"..

The next 2 grows,I plan on using Serious seeds White Russian, and Sensi seeds Shiva Skunk. These 2 strains are some of the best I have tried anywhere.Oh and Reefermans Love Potion (the Indica pheno).

Have a great weekend guys.
PS
The 2 pictures is off Hempstar and Rosetta stone from my last crop.2 great strains.

Sweettooth #3 will always stand out for me. There was a ton of hype when it 1st came out. Looked great, yielded great, tasted great.

But one of, if not the least potent strains I've ever grown.

I hate to say it, but the weakest germ rate I have had was with my pack of SD IBL. 6 germed and got 1 girl.
It could have been something that happened in transit. But I had older packs of Williams Wonder and Gonzo #1 that I sprouted after and had 100% germ rate and some great plants. I still haven't tested my SD Girl and I plan on making f2's with 3 males and the one girl, so if she isn't a keeper, then the kids will be.

My NL XBB from Nirvana gave me some strong weed, insane yields but flavorless smoke.

But what do you want for 20 bucks? I think I paid 15...

So how many SWT#3 plants did you grow out & were they S.O.L.'s ?

Thanx

Yeah, they were from SOL.

I grew out one pack, I think 15 seeds. This was probably 5-6 years, and many strains ago, so it's hard to remember.

I remember I had plenty of females to choose from and all the females were very similar. I ran it 3 or 4 times hoping for better results.

At the time, I was running C99, A11xGWS, and a good NL. So she had some pretty stiff competition.

I was so disappointed because it looked and smelled so good while flowering.
