I bet there is a bear doing that somewhere today because of the heat. He looks about 350-450 pounds.
It was so hot today the chickens hid under the hay bales that are on top of concrete blocks. They go under there half the day usually in the summer but today they didn't want to come out at all, even when I walked close by.

Yea that's a Big Boy. We see bears around near here getting into the spas and pools.

They are not as big as that Big Boy

Edit: On second thought he is really pretty usual just bigger than that little pool

yeah, I figured he looks to be about 400 #s.

my 1st yr up here ('88) I was shown a picture of a black bear being held up by the neck with a front end loader, the hunter in the pic was very small in comparison. The bear weighed 768 #s and would have been a Boone & Crocket record except for the fact that the hunter panicked and shot several wild rounds @ the huge assed bear, one bullet creased the skull disqualifying it from being an entry; the lucky hunters name? I'll never forget, Charlie Brown.

You know you live in the country if......

:D You turn on the radio and hear this:

Arkansas Traveler (Banjo and fiddle)

Hey farmer! You been livin’ here all your life?
Not yet.

Hey farmer! Where does this road go?
Been livin’ here all my life, it ain’t gone nowhere yet.

Hey farmer! How do you get to Little Rock?
Listen stranger, you can’t get there from here.

Hey farmer! Thought you said that mud-hole weren’t very deep?
Only comes up to here on me ducks.

Hey farmer! When you gonna fix that leakin’ roof?
Ah stranger, when it’s a rainin’ it’s too wet to fix it and when it’s dry it’s just as good as any mans house.

Hey farmer! You’re not too far from a fool are you?
Just a barbed-wire fence between us.

Hey farmer! You don’t know very much do you?
No, but I ain’t lost.

 country humor at its best!:tiphat:

You know you live in the country if......

You are more way more concerned about a tree falling on your house, than you are about a burglar breaking in while you are gone...

Nice one Sr!

In all seriousness, Ive just wanted to put it out there for a while, even though we joke about this "stuff" that makes us "country" folk, (and sometimes so just to keep from cryin'), I just want to put it out there how important I think it is that these things dont get lost, and that we need to be making a point to be teaching and learning from each other all the time. IMO the world would be a lot better place if we could all keep more of it (friends, family, food,) closer to home.
The only thing cooler than learning some old back home trick from an old timer is teaching it back to someone new. This thread is good times. Thanks everyone!

hahah, happened when I was too young. Dog was a Neapolitan Mastiff we'd rescued from years of being a fighting dog, wouldn't punch the fucker in the face if you gave me a mil.

He used to bring home foxes, coyotes, and bores for fun. Was kind of his thing, but we built a large fence after that incident. ;) lol. Buried the calf with the rest of 'em and very surprisingly never got hit up about it (the wonders of Nor Cal). Best dog we ever had though, ended up breaking a leg due to some drunk asshole on a quad, had to put him down after that. RIP

May even have a photo of the old fucker somewhere....
