yellowing, purpling..

Yellowing leaves purpling stems..

Strain of Mj? Aurora Indica

Hydroponic or soil? Bio-bizz light-mix organic compost

From seed or clone? clone

Age of plant in question? about 5 weeks since they were cut!

What stage (Veg/Flower; how many days into)? veg ~21 days

Container/Pot size? 9cm squares

Have they been transplanted, if so how long ago? about 3 weeks ago they were put into those pots after showing roots coming out the rockwool cubes

If soil, composition ratios (peat moss, perilite, vermiculite etc.)? it doesn't say on the light-mix bag but I assumed these should be much healthier looking.

Water runoff Ph? i'll test it later but i've been using ph'd water @ 6.4.

Nutrients added? none, shouldn't they be leeching the compost?

Ratios of nutrients (N% P% K%)? not using at the moment, but I have bio-bizz grow and bloom. grow is 8.0-2.0-6.0, bloom is 2.0-6.0-3.5

Feeding schedule? none, are they N hungry? sulphur too maybe please god no!! K and N I can handle...

When were they last fed/watered? 3 days ago, they got a good soak, sat in a puddle of ph'd water in a plastic tub for 10 mins or so before being put back in grow room.

How are you determining when to feed/water (weight, wilting, etc.)? both :)

TDS/EC/PPM? no idea sorry but I do know not to go mad or use the manufacturers reccomendations!

Tap/RO/Distilled water? brita type filtered water / tap water 50-50

Ph before and after adding nutrients? ~8.2 before ~6.4 after adjusting, I have soft water.

Is your Ph equipment properly calibrated? yes I did it the other day and there was only 0.1 difference

Light intensity/Age of bulb/Wattage? 125w red eco-light, this is it's first use.

Distance to the canopy? 2-3"

Temps at canopy? 27/28C

Temps at root zone or reservoir? 26/27C

Day/Night temps (Min.-Max.)? it doesn't get below 16c.

Current air flow (CFM)? not sure, there's 2x 4" pc fans blowing gently in there.

Is there air blowing directly onto plant? yes but it's gentle.

Using CO2? not at the moment.

Relative humidity?77

Growing technique (Scrog, Sog, Supercropping etc.)? these will be sog plants.

Has plant recently been pruned, clones taken, fimmed or pinched? yes, after these cuts rooted I found out I had over watered them, their main nodes died off so after a week or so I decided to take a stanly knife blade to them, carefully removing the dead buds.

Pests? just the plants themselves :biglaugh:

Chemicals used to irradicate? n/a

If so,When? n/a

I'm thinking N def mostly but looking for opinions before I do something to them I might regret.

Also what ec do you good people reccomend for plants this young? I can't test the ec but I found a rough guide that I can figure out how much ec is going in from the nutes.

anyway here they are :badday:

they have been gradually getting worse over the last few days, I thought it was time I got it sorted out.

Please help my babys!

Plant is hungry.Leaves are a uniform yellow or light green; leaves die & drop; growth is slow. Leaf margins are not curled-up noticeably. >> Nitrogen(N) deficiency. Three weeks sounds about right for it to have depleted whatever nitrogen was in the soil.

That's what I was thinking too but what's causing the stems to purple? too low temps at night?

I went through mynamestich's guide and a flow chart, might there be an iron def there too?

I have some murphys sequestrene plant tonic "contains iron chelate with magnesium and manganese" should I use some of that first or give them some grow first? I don't want to give them both at the same time, that'd nuke them surely...

21 days and no feeding.....:yoinks: looks like they are starving for a good dinner...

Start of many deficiencies to come if you don't feed it and make sure it is getting its micronutrients as well(copper, magnesium, iron, etc.) and all will be fine. I don't know what your nutes consist of but I use a chemical fert with all the stuff included.

Cheers guys, much appriciated! one last question in 2 parts LOL.. What ec do you think I should I be aiming for?

Also, would it be a good or bad idea to give them straight distilled water with a little nutes mixed in till they recover or a mix of distilled and tap?

Not sure of the question. I would start feeding that plant a half dose of whatever is recommended every third watering. Maybe go with a quarter dose first and then just a straight water. Then you can up to half strength if all looks well. Again, I just know what I do with my nutes. Understanding what the plant is saying to you goes along way in helping you dial in your grow. Let the soil dry out properly in between waterings and don't feed nutes to a dry plant/root system. On feeding days, it is good to saturate the soil initially with roughly half the water(plain) it would take to run out the bottom and then wait. I usually take this time to look over and sometimes, talk to, the plant in question. 5 minutes or so later(or the time it takes to burn a bowl and smoke a cig) add your nuted water until you get some runoff. It's what I do with mine anyways. I also use only distilled. Have never run into PH problems when using the distilled water I use now.

after 3 weeks of veg i give mine about 500 a 600 PPM ful feeding...but i never use distilled water ...ime when you add nutes 2 distilled water ph drops way 2 low when you add the nutes.....and i need lots of ph+ 2 raise the ph ......atleast thats my exp

if i use tap is much easyer and i only need 2 add just a little ph-...

just my expirience that i'm sharing

same here core, i like to use a mix of distilled and tap as my brita type water filter puts the ph down from 8.2 to 5.2! i'll post back in a few days.. see if they have perked up any :)

is that savage ph drop normal when using those filters?

You should be using 1 to 1 1/2 teaspoons 8-2-6 grow per gallon of water every time you water. Make sure to get good runoff from the bottom.

I gave them 12cc's of distilled water, waited a few hours before I made up 500ml (tap/distilled 50/50) of ec ~0.65 grow solution and added a tiny amount of murphys plant tonic and epsom salts, then pH'd it to 6.4, I then added 12cc's of this mix to each plant and there's still way more than enough feed there incase they need some more in a few days, it's bubbling away nicely and they will probably get another 12-24cc's tonight.

how do they look after the feeding ...looks more perky? leaves wont restore themselfs as you should know...new growth thats what you should be looking at and ofcaurse if the leaves are not worsening

I havn't noticed a difference yet.. I'm not too worried about these ones, they have been dodgy since the word go, i'll get some practice in on those ready for these :joint:

hi pimp, here is a good feeding I have come up with for the bio bizz nutes.
I was not happy with yield results only using bio-bizz so I added a bit of PK 13/14 later on in flowering and can highly recommend it. But otherwise only using bio bizz the best ratio is 1ml per literr of grow in vegg and 1ml of grow and 2 ml of bloom in flowering.
Feed this on every watering. It is very hard to burn plants with bio-bizz and i have already fed only just rooted clones at the full 1ml/liter strength without any problems.

He's not very original. Just stupid, and considering he doesn't even bother to change his writing style or wordings at all, I doubt anyone would be surprised with his climbing number of troll handles.

Thats too strong, did you know bio-bizz grow puts 1.3ec on 0.0 ec water when you add 1ml/1litre? mike from mandala seeds never feeds more than 0.8ec.. i have pk 13/14, i'd like to test out that pk 9/18, trust me it is easy to over feed with bio-bizz, you probaby dont realise the amount of salts building up in your pots, when was the last time you tested the ec and ph of the run off?

Have a read of this, (fertilizing wisely by mike from mandala seeds)

Is the light you are using a cfl? If not you may be burning your plants, since you say they are 2"-3" from the light.
