AK47 dry sift

AK47 dry sift

hello dry sift fans

Over the weekend, I dry sifted a bit of AK47 trim.
I used about 2 big handfulls of frosty frozen trim. Placed it on the screen, shook it, gave it 3 passes with my hand with light pressure, and shook it again.
I should have photod the resulting kif, but failed to do so. It easily finger pressed into this chunk:

which was quite solid and hard to break.

But I managed to break it open to give you the cross-section view.

AK47 dry sift....stroooong stuff!

Would this screen work for a dry sift??

there's two problems with trying to use screen printing screen frames for dry sifting ...one is when the frame is placed on the collection glass or table often the mesh touches the surface of the table which prevents a free fall-through of resin ....and secondly the sides of the frame are too low so often bits of plant matter bounce out onto the collection area especially if you are dry sifting buds that have not been completely ground up

ideally ... the sides of the frame should beat least two inches in height and have a fitted lid for active seiving and the frame base should have sides to elevate the mesh off the ground and allow the resin to fall through..this will also prevent air movement between the mesh and collection plate and the strong possibility of having your gold dust resin blow away

Happy Dry Sifting!

very simple answer here. I turn the screen over. then the wood frame will elevate it above the glass, and you loose much less material in the edges of the frame. You just need to work with smaller batches so you don't contaminate the screenings below with fall over residue.

You bet it is! :rasta:

Here is some of mine, AK47 dry sift. The mesh used wasn't ideal so it's not that pure, lots of trichom stalks in it. It doesn't melt but it's sooo powerfull! Great smell too, just like the weed it came from.

sifting the AK

sifting the AK

Ol cookie has been in the sifting lab again. Here's the results. On this run, going for purity more than weight.

HEY...somebody made a mess of my nice clean piece of black glass!

and YEAH, I know I was having trouble forming the letter M...too much hash smoke :smoke:

a nice pile of trichs:

and the closeup...lookin pretty clean:

then it's into the the Ultimate Personal Hash Press to make a puck:

I used cellophane between the dimes and the trichs inside the press, so the imprints of the dimes stamped in nicely, but I don't think it's visible in this pic.

howzabout a nice cross-section shot of that puck:

keep it hashy, yall.

Hello all!
Ive got one question.I know that i should use"search"option but i dont really want to so can you just guys give me an answer to my quite stupid newbie question?
Which type of material should i use to make hash by "dry sieve". I Heard about stockings that my and probably yours moms use. Hmm and 2nd question what are microns?? is it unit of squares in the material on square centimeter(0.01 meter to those who werent conscious on math lessons)?? Visit polish forum and there is sticky thread with "hash" in main or something. My fellows used stockings and get some nice hash. What about you?? I'm curious about the screens you use here Americans ;P what are they made of? And how much Celcius degrees needs hash to became that what we want in the oven ;)

Thanks, purce

This is some STRONG stuff!
I should also mention that since I used cellophane between the dimes and the trichs, I used NO heat at all. The last thing I wanted was to melt plastic in there!
Since it was good n pure, it easily pressed together without heat, and is binding very nicely. it SNAPS when a piece is broken off.

P-w: I'm not really sure what micron the screen I use is. It's an artist's silkscreen that I got from an arts n crafts store. I've tried using stockings, as you have mentioned, and I've gotten mixed results. The openings get larger the more it is stretched, so it's hard to get a certain size mesh using stockings. i have made hash like that, but it had a good bit of vegative material in there as well. and again, no heat was used to make this hash. I hope that answers at least a small bit of your questions. Good luck, and happy sifting.

Have someone tried to make hash from dry-sieve in toaster?? i mean the same method like in the oven with rolling trichs in celophane then wet paper and put into oven but can i do the same in toaster instead of oven?? what is the temperature in toaster?? I made today some hash by pressing it in celophane between 2 sheets of paper by an hot iron. Effect was good but i am curious about that method with toaster... sry for my english! peace

Amazing shots everyone! :rasta:

I just dont understand why people press their trichs if its for personal use?

portability/storability is a lot of the reason why. Also, some folks (myself included) feel it produces a different type of smoke. More flavorful, expansive, etc. Check out pipedream's "Ultimate Personal Hash Press" thread. I've seen a few people there that seem to agree. Happy hashing!
