I just don’t understand why people press their trichs if its for personal use?

Yup, nothing quite like pressed dry sift! :D

Of course, it’s always nice to have loose kief around, too...

Woo-Hoo! Got my new computer and love it. Here are some photos from what been happening around these parts the last few weeks...

...a bit over 6 oz before it was bagged for the shot below...

The pile in the middle is about half of the kiff from the big leaf, the jars in back are different fine trim runs. The full jar on the right is ~4 ozs. The slabs on the right were different tries at using heat with my new press. The rectangular pieces in the bottom right are 1 oz slabs. Clockwise from there is a PK nug, and a tin with some bubble and a couple hand rolled balls.

110 lpi seems to let through very few, if any, contaminants.

This one is a knock-off of the Cherniak picture on the left. Notice how the frame has bent from the pressure of the 6-ton jack. I think the original design used a 4-ton, but I'm pressing bigger slabs. Either reinforcing the channel steel or getting thicker steel is necessary. I bent the spring plate in a bone-headed, already smoked too much dry sift move :wallbash:

The pressed ounce bars. You can see just under my thumb a different imprint I tried.

...and a couple from different genetics. Interestingly, these are the same slabs on the floor in the press picture above; weird lighting I guess. I gave each batch a unique imprint so I could tell them apart easier. I've yet to run a lot of flarf from the garden and hope to imprint the strains on those.

Dear Butte, Could you explain the pressing method you use to end up with those lovely 1oz bars in the above pic please mate.

Hey, here's a little bit of "happy sand" I collected by cutting up my buds into this grinder-sized sifter tin before scooping it out & smoking it in whatever fashion. About a week's worth or so - a small amount, but still tasty and potent...:rasta:

Peace

Hey there all you dry sieve addicts and experts.... Ive found a uk supplier for mesh-which ive posted up , anyway im going to be making myself my own stashbox with 3 stage screened seperation hash making kit-I was gonna buy a GN one from EDIT but they all gone by the time i made me mind up, so bugger it ill make one-who knows if I do a good enough job maybe ill make more and sell em. Anyway i Have a question about the meshes to be used...
The bubble box sold by Bubbleman uses screens of 140,107,and 70 Microns, the 140 is ok, the supplier has it, but they dont have the 107 or 70, the nearest to the 107 is either 112 or 100, and the nearest ones to the 70 is either 74 or 63... My question really is will using one of the nearest possible be ok, and if so which of the choices would be better....
The supplier is
http://www.plastok.co.uk/meshes/wovenwire.htm, you can see what they do have... so guys what do you reckon.... 112 Vs 100 and 74 Vs 63
also if anybody has any suggestions for my stashbox id love to hear em.... im actually plannning a quite large one...maybe 40wX25dX20h CM maybe a bit smaller...

Lost interest in kief but these shots are making me more interested in dry sift again. Great job all. Wonderful presses too.

Hey Harry Gypsna,

Try making a setup like this, alot more easier and bigger.
77 µ and 43 µ Aluminum Silkscreens.

Sour Bubble dry sift

Sour Bubble dry sift

Greetings, dry-sift hash fans

It's been a while since I showed some hash here, so I figured I'd show some really nice hash I recently made from some Sour Bubble trim.

I'd say one of the best tips I can give for really pure dry-sift is to make sure the trim is still slightly flexible and slightly moist rather than 100% dry and brittle. The dry brittle trim leaves will break up, getting vegative matter into the hash. The flexible leaves will bend and twist while being sifted rather than crumble and break. If you then freeze that slightly flexible trim, brittle trichs fall right off with a light sifting.
I usually do a first run of A grade hash, then do other runs of lesser hash by sifting more intensly, rubbing harder, etc.
These pics are from some of the A grade stuff.

Here's a nice clean pile of delicious Sour Bubble trichs:

I like to use the "Ultimate Personal Has Press" (clay press)
but I know the dry-sift is REALLY pure when I can just pick up some trichs on the end of my finger and press them together by hand.
Beginning at the bottom edge of this pile, I just started pressing piles of trichs together:

A couple good firm presses later, and a ball of hash starts to form:

At the end, I get a nice rock-hard little ball of hash. I'd say that not as many trich heads are ruptured pressing by hand as would be pressing by press, but it's still a nice hard ball. Crazy marbled coloration.

Here we see this ball of hash being gaurded by a KING giving himself brain surgery, who just looooves hash!

I heart hash too.

The next day, I cut into it for a couple beauty cross-section shots.

close up action:

So there you have it. Mouth watering, hella-potent super tasty Sour Bubble dry-sift hash.

Next time around, I'll play with some pure sativa trichs!

Wonderful read of 12 pages....Love the DrySift pix.

What are you guys using for the larger harvests?

I wana invest in an automatic tumbler for perhaps a LB of trim or more....

Yummm...damn, my mouth is a waterin'! I can't wait to make my first batch of real dry sift (my grinder/sifter doesn't count). I love a good dash of sugar on my bowl of weedies!
