WTFS up with s.hity rappers these days making s. loads of money?

Rappers aint makin s.h.i.t. these days. You can rent bling for an event or video. The only ones with loot are the ones that got in and got out before ITunes. Jay-z and Eminem come to mind. And thats about it. You can bet most others are broke and just frontin. The smart rappers invested their money. But, smart rapper is an oxymoron, except for the the former 2. 400,000 will get you a Bently, a little bit of bling, and a 3 bedroom house thats not quite in the ghetto. And thats about it. The record industry as we have known it, is close to folding. And its hanging on by a string. When was the last time you saw a new rapper with a Bently, in a video spittin Cristal at the camera? Most of them are driving Caprices on dubs now. And chillin in front of the club.

......I just don't listen to rap.....I prefer to listen to people singing with their music...

....besides I can't even understand most of what they are rappin' about........if that's supposed to be English then I must have been sleeping in my English lessons at an English school.....

NEWS FLASH its entertainment. most people who dog rap or hip hop 9 times out of 10 dont understand the game period.

Sure that soulja boy is pretty lame, but A. hes 16 years old its not made for you, and B. make a song at your house, put it on myspace, its takes off record label offers you a deal, and says they will put you on tv, and give you more money then your parents ever made together.

You think these kids are gonna say no cause i dont wanna "sell out". Think about it. Dont take it to heart take it like a movie. You wanna get mad at a person that talks about selling drugs but really never done it, in my book that deserves a pat on the back.

And nokuy im a have to agree with you on the jigga tip. That american gangster is the 1st cd in awhile that i can listen to from beginning to end. Not to mention a buisness guru also.

Sorry im a little tipsy and just got home from a real underground hip-hop show, and it was bangin.

1994 big l-all black

Yo once again its the big l, that kid who got much props
For killin corrupt cops, with mother****in buck shots
So dont step to this, cause I got a live crew
You might be kinda big but they make coffins yo size too
I was taught wise, Im known to extort guys
This aint cali, its harlem nigga we do walkbys
No one can match me, tax me or wax me
If you want me to write you some raps g just ask me
Cause on the shelf is where your lp cold stood
Because it was no good, that shit aint even go wood
Im not the type to take sluts out, I just **** they guts out
Get my nuts out, then break the **** out
Me being a virgin, thats idiotic
Cause if big l got the aids every cutie in the city got it
Once a nigga tried to stick me for six gs
And I put more holes in his ass than swiss cheese

Chorus: big l (repeat 2x)

(ducks better scat when the gat goes click-clack)
Or ima have your family dressed in all black

[big l]
I steal lives like a stone thief, so leave me alone chief
Or catch a buck shot to your domepiece
I must warn, I got it goin on, word is bond
Ducks be gettin thrown off platforms like p.m. dawn
Im catchin bodies like a villains supposed to
And I squeeze triggers, not just on niggaz but hoes too
So dont try to test me, cause I cant stand test's
**** around, Ill introduce you to your ancestors
Step to this and get left with a face full of tears, pal
But man youve been rappin for years now
And aint made a hit yet, you flop in a split sec
In the showers the only time you get your dick wet
I roll with scary crews, I come out of wars barely bruised
Im puttin mother****ers on the daily news
I was a gangsta from the git-go
Leavin fags in bodybags with tags on they big toe

Chorus 2x

[big l]
Yo ever since I was young, I ripped mics and I killed beats
And Im known to milk freaks and hit em on silk sheets
No dame can give me a bad name, I got mad fame
Im quick to put a slug in a fag brain
I be placin snitches inside lakes and ditches
And if I catch aids, then ima start rapin bitches
Im all about makin papes kid
I killed my mother with a shovel just like norman bates did
My old man in the past, stuck me up without a mask
Then his ass cold dashed with my cash fast
Fifty gs is what the creep stole; so the next day
Knocked on his door and shot his granny through the peephole
Thats the type of shit Im on, word is bond
Got it goin on, from the break of dawns to the early morn
You know my style Im wild, comin straight out of harlem pal
Its big l, the mother****in problem child

Chorus 2x

[big l]
This goes out to all yall bitch-ass niggaz
So if your momma aint ready for a funeral, dont **** with me
Cause I know a good way to get your family together
And I aint talkin bout a reunion mother****er
Yo, Im bout to sign out, but before I go
I gotta say peace to the nfl crew, you know who you are
And all yall niggaz talkin that gun shit
And wont bust a rhyme, stop fakin the funk!
Word, Im bout to get up out of here
Im out b, yo peace man
I gotta get this money
So all yall niggaz on my hitlist get your suits ready
Hahahaha!

CheifnBud2: TV sucks except for comedy central, cartoon network and occasionally discovery and history channel, IMO.

Way too much good hip hop out there... not on TV... like the best movies.

Gypsy Nirvana: If you're interested good singers, good english, good music.

Haiku De'Tat - Coup De Theatre*
Mikah Nine - American Nightmares (went on tour with Wailers)
Moka Only - Lime Green

NOKUY: White rappers way better than eminem - EL-P, Cage, Eyedea (served eminem @ HBO Blaze battle), RA Rugged Man, Grouch

There's still good rap, like someone else said you just gotta dig for it. One of the only mainstream rappers I like anymore is ghostface, but even his new cd is only OK.

Tame one, cannibal ox/company flow, el-p, mr lif, mfdoom, c-rayz walz, murs, ra the ruggedman, so many others.

i heard that soulja boy nonsense for the first time the other day. i immediately took off my headphones, dismounted my tractor, began stabbing myself in the ear.

music is suppose to be enternatinment though. do you want rappers to sing about politics and science and technology?
well there is a lot of different rap out there these days, lots of sub-genres that rap about all sorts of shit. theres even nerd rap.
but i can think of a few rap artist that are political and entertaining. public enemy, dead prez, immportal technique, etc. etc.

One word people.....COUNTRY!

I'm just kidding, I despise country as much as I do mainstream rap.

The name of the game is simple, go big, sell out. If you want to find an artist worth his/her salt, do some digging. Good artists are out there. You just have to search.

Rappers do not make money by records sells anymore. Most of there money is made by do shows and "marketing".What is happening in this thread is what make a garbage rapper a tool for marketing.

We talk about them, then we go to find more on the artist, their popularity increases...............so, if you do not want these idiots to make any money do not speak if them!!!!!!

After this post this should be the end of talk on wack "artist"

Check out cage's older stuff (movie for the blind, the weathermen mixtape). When eminem came onto the scene he copied cage's style and then went huge. Cage is like eminem, except on a whole lot more acid. :joint:

i heard of cage but never heard him.
...i dont know how to hear underground stuff cuz my comp is soooooo old school and dial up.

i never even heard of soulja boy that you guys mention

what i really wanna hear is some roots reggae/rap....only thing close i know of is damien marley.....is there some good stuff that is similar? (gotta be ruff and raw tho)

i hardly ever listen to the radio, and when I do- it's not rap unless there is absolutely NOTHING on. Just for kicks though, I pulled up most of the songs mentioned in this thread.. OMG wtf happened to rap? Esp that repetitive souljah boy song. completely talentless. I guess i'll give it another 10 years and maybe something good will come along again.

a little offtopic, but I've been thinking about where music is heading lately. Everybody borrows and "improves" (haha) on other people's work, and that seems to be sort of the evolution of music. But one of these days, if it hasn't already happened, people are gonna realize that genres have peaked out. And then it won't be about who has the latest hip song, or the next breakout group.. it'll be more about the listener and what they want to hear (instead of what the record labels deem popular). And I think people will start to make their own music more, and it will be more of a localized experience instead of having international music acts. People jammin on their porch, or flowin over a beatbox. That's just my 2 cents though, I'm pretty high.
